Oscar, was put back, put back and put back, by his team today. Bad call after bad call. They had some good calls though, and Oscar was leading this years Silverstone grand prix for the first time.
McLaren I swear don't want Oscar being in contention to the second half they can use him to support Oscar. It was clear to everyone pitting same time was a better option. Respect for Oscar being cool though
Unfortunately, Lando being Zak Brown's golden boy will eventually force Oscar to a new team... and there's openings at Redbull, Mercedes, and Ferrari soon
Smart of Carlos to keep waiting before signing any contract. Crazy things will happen by the end of the season. If Checo keeps going, he will lose his seat. Would love to see Carlos there (RB) or at Mercedes.
I'm an Aussie and obvious oscar fan but it's too early for him to leave, sure he's a very promising driver but no team worth moving to would take him In my opinion, so it's best he stays where he is for atleast another two years in the strong car and make a name for himself
@ItachiUchiha-nj9wx I agree and as an Australian I go into every race weekend thinking fuck yeah another week let's get hyped but usually finish up feeling hard done by either a Lando favouritism in the form of a driver swap or Lando getting the upgrades first and having the better car, a bad strategy call or just oscar not having the pace. On the note of upgrades it feels EVERYTIME McLaren will have good upgrades before the other teams which really work for lando and then the next week oscar will get them but every other team also brings upgrades so oscar doesn't get the benefit really and lando just gets a free statistic over him Geez what a rant 😂
McLaren have the dumbest strategy department. Need to poach Hannah Schmitz from Red Bull. At the moment they have some clueless indian dude handling strategy.
It is time for McLaren to give Piastri a chance to be priority # 1 EVEN FOR ONE RACE to see his potential. Lando is good but for him to keep on crying after every race for his mistakes will no make McLaren a champion team. Give Piastri a chance.
He pushed because at that point he had the pace to overtake Norris, which if he'd pulled off right before the pit stop would have been epic, but even with them being separated by a few tenths, he would have been better off double stacking.
0:58 "We need to review whether we had any more information we could have used to make a better call." Yes you did. In fact, one of the guys who provided that information is walking into the interview at that exact moment. Max and Carlos had just pitted for inters and were lighting up the timing screens during their outlap. Max was a full 5 seconds faster than Piastri in the middle sector alone (40.561 to Piastri's 45.560). McLaren must (or at least should) have seen that before Lando and Oscar were approaching pit entry. And as it was still raining that would only increase on the next lap. Really only a blind person could not see that double stacking was the way to go, so whoever is responsible for making those calls at McLaren should be sacked. Hang on, I take that back. As a Max fan, I'd say: good work, McLaren... keep it up!
If Oscar want to win races in Mclaren as "a second driver", he needs some changes and grows his desire to win. TRY TO BECOME ROSBERG WHEN HE RACE HAMILTON, OR VERSTAPEN WHEN HE RACE RICCIARDO. Thats the only solution. OR HE WANT END UP LIKE BARRICHELLO, WEBBER, AND BOTTAS.
Here's what a lot miss, Oscar is very similar to Alan Jones, he has that same measured speech, he has the same absolute mongrel hardness about him, he has the skill levels of a WDC! He even vaguely looks a little like Alan Jones.
What did race teach us now, oscar>>>>>>>lando, he's more mature, handles the car well and is a good strategist, I think if the team rlly saw his potential they would put him over lando, he would win more.....
Will Buxton's deliberate attempt to not mention Hamilton is obvious he has never respected Hamilton and his bigotry is evident over the years. "Max and the Mercedes" really?
@@nuztuz903 I don't agree it has nothing to do with only this video he has always found reasons not to factor in Hamilton in his predictions unless it was obvious. I complained many times over the years about this. He's smug and arrogant even Barretto sometimes calls it as it is.
Oscar has a loser attitude. I want him to do well as a fellow Aussie, but he never calls out the team's blunders! It's like he's just there to have fun and participation is all that counts.
I get the impression that it’s calculated and he’s biding his time, and that this won’t be the case for much longer. It’s only his second season and McLaren’s only been truly competitive for 12 months at most, so it makes sense to hang back, learn what he can while the pressure is all on Lando and make the most of a great car. But I think the increasingly bad strategy calls and blunders from McLaren will start to wear thin by the end of this year, especially if Oscar doesn’t get a win. The fact that his manager is Mark Webber as well, who’s been through this before and, with hindsight, knows where he should’ve called things out earlier to avoid becoming the no. 2. Personally, even as a Brit and Lando fan, Lando has a loser attitude, Oscar seems to be above it all and far more mature. I love Lando and think he’s really maturing and improving as a driver, but when things don’t go his way he only seems to make things worse, whereas Oscar just gets on with it.
@@dst9997he has already become the default number 2 and the longer this goes on the harder it will become to change. He needs to stand his ground in the next race and I'm sure webber will tell him that. He needs to also raise his performance because it's 9-3 in qualy and 10-2 in race so that needs to change also.
