"turned into"? Some of us ALREADY count him #1 on the list of "greatest players" - but in my case I count "greatest" separately from "best players', and the lists have a lot of differences (Kobe is much higher on the "great" list, Wilt is much higher on the "best" list, for 2 well-known examples).
@@nostradamous4226 Maybe so, but he sure spent a lot of time on the court schooling others. Second best Hoosier ball player ever - and he's the ONLY one that can argue with Larry for #1.
8 years in a row, he managed to AVERAGE a triple double or barely miss it. Russ, you STILL got some catching up to do! At least Russ respects the best!
Lots of different rules that made it harder to get triple doubles too. Big O talked about to before how he couldn’t pass out to shooters, he had to spoon feed teammates at the basket for layups
Still the greatest all-around player I've ever seen. Could do whatever he wanted on the court. A great coach once said of him; "You knew where he was gonna go. You knew what he was gonna do. But you couldn't stop him. That's greatness."
I was a bit shocked about him being the SECOND award winner - then I get reminded of the lawsuit, and all the other stuff he did for the players and for the league as a whole. Thought he was deserving before that reminder, was ONLY questioning the order - my how quickly we forget....
I had the privilege to see Oscar lay basketball in high school, Indiana All Star game, University of Cincinnati and finally in the pros. I have had the honor to shake his hand. Oscar, for me has been one of the greatest players ever. He is also an outstanding man and a man who deserves to be idolized. He excels in all. Mr Robertson I want you to know that I have admired you since first learning about you in 1954.
It is always funny how people believe guys in Oscars error were less athletic...if you put guys that grind and had the mentality of Oscar...Oscar would be Lance Stephenson build with a mind equal if not greater than LeBron and the will of a Kobe to refuse to relent. We don't properly contextualize greatness...if what he was doing was easy so many more would have been able to do it. The biggest disservice to guys like Oscar and Wilt was the crooked way the Celtics and Lakers were able to dominate the game in hoarding all the talent in those days.
alex martinez word?!? Oh my goodness I totally forgot that is where he got his only other championship in an inexplicable transaction to get to a team that already had Jerry West and Elgin Baylor in his best chance to get to a championship year after year rather than getting beat in the East... I'll have to look into that... clearly The greatest player ever going to The Lakers with the man they call Mr. Clutch and the Logo in no way supports my point the league was dominated by two franchises that always found a way to get top talent no matter what
