So, Chris really was just doing his job. He didn't even make the joke. If he had freestyled the whole thing, he wouldn't have joked about Jada at all. Idk how one can say Chris deserved that slap.

Will Smith wanted to tell the world that he was no longer the Fresh Prince persona. And he wanted to demonstrate loyalty to his wife, even if he has resentment for what she did.

Jada already said in an interview that she didn't care what people thought of her bald head, so I guess that was just a lie because she was obviously so annoyed that will felt the need to slap chris. It paints the picture that there are no consequences to those who want to threaten, assault, and solve verbal or social matters with violence and disrespect. Being the bigger man concluded with choosing to not go on a flying rage and wanting to charge off of the stage to hit him back , and showing restraint by not saying anything to truly drag him and his family further at that moment. There's a difference between being the bigger person vs letting someone get away with tyranny. As an adult or a person with class, there's a number of proper ways to go about situations like that without necessarily sinking to the offender's level or tarnishing your own reputation. Will Smith didn't apologize directly to Chris Rock publicly or show any true remorse for his actions. By Chris letting him get away with this he makes it impossible to respect the way that he handled the situation.
@@spongebob8445 it's Will Smith... Do you really think pressing charges would have done anything? No. And Chris probably already knows that. If he lets it slide it's less than 5% of his day... If he tries pressing charges it's countless wasted dollars, and hours on something he's not going to be able to achieve anyway. And that would make them both look equally ridiculous for it. Escalation only succeeds in making you look just as childish as the person that you're dealing with. Says a lot about your mental state.
