🚨📢 Update: *Full Course is Under Construction* --> pracnet.net/networking 👉👉 Enroll now for *discounted early access* to the course and a chance to help shape its content. 📺▶ Module 1 Playlist - Networking Fundamentals: ru-vid.com/group/PLIFyRwBY_4bRLmKfP1KnZA6rZbRHtxmXi 💭💬 Join us on Discord: pracnet.net/discord _--- Original Comment below: ---_ *Full Course Status: Wait and See.* Hopefully you've come to realize that I put _a lot_ of effort into the content I create. I'm not a course creator that will simply turn on the screen recording and ramble, then call that teaching. I meticulously plan _every_ module and lesson to _maximize the learning and value_ for the student. To that end, it takes me a while to put together courses. If I'm going to dedicate the time, resources, and energy to putting this full course together, I need to know that there is enough interest in the full course. I'm rating that by how wide a reach this series achieves. *If you are interested in seeing the full course developed, then the best way to bring that to fruition is to spread the word about this content* . By itself it already conveys _a lot_ of value. So sharing even just the 7 lessons (13 videos) in this series will surely help whoever you share it with. Plus ... many online communities would greatly benefit from these videos. Think of all the Internet points you could acquire if you shared this series (karma, likes, follows, etc.) 😉 Use this link to share the full series: ru-vid.com/group/PLIFyRwBY_4bRLmKfP1KnZA6rZbRHtxmXi Also, if you share it on Twitter or LinkedIn, please tag me =): twitter.com/ed_pracnet/ www.linkedin.com/in/eharmoush/

The way you present the hitherto complex topics in such a lucid and comprehensible manner is mind boggling !! I mean in last 24 hours itself, just by binge watching your videos, my knowledge on networking fundamentals and the OSI model has shot up by multiple notches. It's incredible !! Not a single tutor in my career's last 10 years had explained the concepts in such an eloquent manner (that too free). Please accept my GRAND SALUTE and continue to do the awesome work !! 😇

What does OSI mean? You’re a GREAT instructor! Truly. If there’s one thing you could improve upon is making sure you ALWAYS introduce an acronym only after you have spoken it’s full form, and the gradually shift in your speech to the use of the acronym alone, thus teaching the acronym as you’re teaching your subject.
@PracticalNetworking
@PracticalNetworking 2 года назад
That's a fair point. I make more of an effort to introduce the words that make up the acronyms when they are more relevant (you'll see this in Lesson 6 if you continue the series). In the case of OSI... the name is somewhat arbitrary. Open Systems Interconnect -- it's simply the name of the group which was trying to establish the standard. The letters don't actually mean anything.

This is the BEST explanation of the OSI model I have ever seen. So many people don't explain why it is practical to use it as a model for networking, so it's just rote memorization of weird facts that don't' have any context. Especially when you get to the upper layers. You're a very good teacher and actually made this comprehensible, and INTERESTING, and not just a bunch of facts.

Amazing videos and very easy to understand! So just to test my learning and my understanding I will explain in a very easy way to see if I understood the 1-2-3 layers of the OSI model. Please correct me if I'm wrong. 1)Physical Layer: Basically is the layer that we want to send data and to be able to send the data we need ethernet cables, Wi-Fi, repeaters etc. The physical parts 2)Data Link Layer: This layer will try to send the data from PC1 to PC2. But to be able to send the data we need to have some routers in the "network line" between PC1-PC2 and the data from PC1 will hop to the first router with the mac address then hop to next router with the mac address and then to another hop for example and then hop to PC2. 3) Network Layer: To successfully receive PC2 the data we need the IP address. So the Layer 2 and 3 works together and we have the MAC addresses from layer 2 and IP addresses from Layer 3 and with that the IP address between the last hope will receive the PC2 the data from PC1.

I’ve taken networking three times and passed with flying colors each time however, I don’t use it every day so things start to get fuzzy. First of all Sir, you are doing a great job and you have a great way of explaining things, my question is if we are communicating outside of the network where L3 technology comes like a router, what happens in level 2 and what switches do there?
