Thirty-four-year-old Anders (Anders Danielsen Lie) is a fortunate, but deeply troubled man battling drug addiction. As part of his rehabilitation program, he is allowed to go into the city for a job interview, but instead uses the opportunity as a way to drift around and revisit old friends. The day grows increasingly difficult as he struggles to overcome personal demons and past ghosts for the chance at love and a new life.

I watched Oslo August 31st and didn't feel anything because isolation and depression like that is so common for me. I mean this as a complement because the film is so accurate in depicting depression and scenarios around it - like comparing your life with others' lives, feelings of shame, impulsive behaviour, how uncomfortable scenarios enable drug use, how suicide always feels like the natural answer to solving any bad situation, and on and on. Brilliant cinema that the world needs more of.

Thanks for the review. I haven't watched this movie yet. I was actually planning to watch it but was a bit hesitant thinking that it would make me depressed as I can relate to the character. Like people with suicidal tendencies were advised not to watch the show 13 Reasons Why. So my question is - Should I watch it? Will it trigger my depression? Is this movie inspiring?

@@adams.george it's been 4 years already and I don't know you watched this movie or not but I suggest if you feel depress don't watch it. I feel depressed for a long time and last scene made me feel bad so much

I don't think I've ever been metaphorically punched harder in the gut than when I got to the last 5 minutes. I've felt every single thing Anders feels, and have been told every single thing everyone tells him. I've never seen depression so accurately and personally displayed in film before, truly a masterpiece.

I was a real life version of him 9 years ago. This movie helped me to turn my life around, because I didn't want the same end IRL as in the movie. 9 years later I feel great. There were many years of pain and struggle to get back into a normal life... But it was worth it more than I ever could Imagine.

This movie was interpreted very well by the main character who spent time in drug rehab facilities to learn about problems that individuals face while trying to get clean. One of the few movies that I will always remember.

This movie hit me so hard because I remember how I felt just like the main character. The difference was that I didn't commit suicide.

Do you think he committed suicide in the last scene? I was wondering if he just shoot up or is it an intentional overdose since he bought a gram of heroin when the dealer was asking him if he would like a quarter. And sorry that you have been through similar situation. I really liked the film though I couldn’t relate to it much.

Finally found it myself😅 "Kommer til å bli bedre. Alt til å ordne seg. Gjør ikke det." It means "Things will get better. Everything will be alright. It's not true."
