After a long wait, Expressive E's Osmose has finally arrived at Mannys! We threw Sab, our resident keys maestro, in the deep end to see what she could with it. The Osmose represents the current peak of expressive keybed technology (MPE), giving you a familiar playing experience but as Sab found out, one you still need to practice on to master, whether you're an experienced pianist or not.
The keybed isn't the only star of the show though, the EaganMatrix sound engine designed Hakan Audio sounds incredible, and covers an insanely broad sound palate. EaganMatrix was designed specifically for multi-gestural controllers, making it the perfect match for Osmose.
All of us have been having a great time playing with the Osmose, if this the future, or even one future of synthesizers, then we are here for it!

I have my Osmose for almost half a year. I have to say the pitch bend with the keys is difficult and often doesn't sound good. But the keyboard can be played very expressively and the pressure portamento is also very good. I would definitely buy the Osmose again, but it's not a game-changer for me.

I felt the same way until I discovered the hidden key wiggle sensitivity settings. In order to find them just push the sensitivity tab and use a knob to see the rest of sensitivity options. Here you find advanced ways to control which pressed notes the key wiggle will affect. The options are, Nonr, All, last note, botton note and highest note. For me highest note is my go to for most songs. By knowing which note is flat when it occurs I'd crucial in speedily correcting the error. There are also other sensitivity options that are great. You can program how easy or not the key pitch bend is. By setting the stabilization to taste , life is real good! The Osmose arrives in my opinion too easy to use the key wiggle pitch bend. I can understand why they chose to do it, but it would of been better if they program the factory presets with more examples of key wiggle types. The good news all the options to get the key wiggle pitchbend the way you might enjoy it, are just waiting for you to experiment with the sensitivity settings.:)

This will destroy the Seaboard if you like playing keys. You can get pad and percussive sounds from how you use the keys, whether you hit hard or touch softly. Shame these are so expensive here.
