Keep in mind the alternative of the infernal tools. They can make some methods substantially more AFK where the crystal tools would make it less AFK, but better exp.

I do want to do an episode on Infernal Tools too, I know they have a lot of potential in certain areas over Crystal Tools. I would probably go more into a comparison between them in that one.

Crystal Harpoon - one thing you overlooked is that it increases your chance of catching a fish and therefore provides substantially more XP/HR while 2 tick Harpoon fishing. Also the crystal pick, does not increase your chance to mine an ore but rather speeds up your skilling timer slightly. So uisng it for tick minipulation methods is a waste of shards. Lastly for tick minipulation methods like woodcutting it's important to recognize the value of an infernal axe as it makes the process somewhat less intensive than using a crystal axe as it burns the logs. Amazing video, some tick minipulation details I feel were overlooked, but as you said you'll fill in anything you missed 😊

Tick Manipulation is definitely an area that I need more knowledge in. Besides cooking/prayer training I really haven't dabbled in it at all, so thank you for bringing this to the table, I'm sure it'll help some people out looking for info on it! I'm probably going to have an episode on Infernal Tools at some point too.

Song of the Elves won't be completed on my account until it (and Dragon Slayer 2, as well as eventually Desert Treasure 2) is one of the last quests I need to complete. I am not spending a whole day for one quest anytime soon. Thank you for the video, regardless!

Personally, I'd highly advise against the Crystal Axe if you're afking redwoods, because the Infernal Axe is so much better for it. It doesn't help you chop logs any faster, but because it sometimes deletes logs when you cut them, it allows you to afk much, much longer. In addition, because you can recharge Infernal tools with either another Smouldering stone *or* the original dragon tool, it's dirt cheap to upkeep the Infernal Axe compared to the Crystal. It's also better imo at something like 2t teaks, because it reduces your click intensity by "dropping" some of the logs for you. The Infernal Axe is such an underutilized tool.

I did another episode on Infernal Tools and compared them a little more to Crystal. I agree that the Infernal Axe is much better for 2t, it makes a lot of sense there. Compared to AFking Redwoods though, I would still pick the Crystal Axe. It is technically less afk, but Redwoods are already generously afk with any axe imo. You also end up getting ~10k xp/hr more with Crystal, which I value more than the benefits of the Infernal Axe. Of course the choice will vary from what each individual player values more.

Imbued heart/eternal slayer gem would be good for this series. I completely forgot they existed until trailblazer dumped 6 on everyone lolololol...never used either in the main game, but it’d be cool to know if they are worth it (particularly the gem). Keep the good advice rollin my dude 👍

Why do you only compare them to dragon items? In some cases it would make sense to compare them to infernal tools. I would guess that most people willing to invest millions into upgrading their tools would also consider infernal options. For instance, infernal harpoon helps quite a lot at tempoross too

Crystal axe at this point is primarily status/cosmetic based. Stick with dragon pick. Best bang for buck...

Here's a stupid question. What happens when the charges run out? I can't find this answer anywhere. The wiki just says "...will act like a dragon axe." That's kind of vague. It already acts like a dragon axe as you can cut with it. Does it mean the cutting speed reverts back to that of a dragon axe's speed?

To my understanding, yes. Without charges in it, any Crystal Tool will simply function and have the same bonuses of the Dragon variant.

How does crystal pickaxe interact with the Varrock armor? Does it consume two charges when you get double ore or still only one charge? thanks

To be honest I don't have the answer to that. I would assume it does not take an additional charge off of a Crystal Pick tho. Sounds like a question for Mod Ash over one Twitter

Should you buy it? No, not really! You'll spend more time fussing about with buying, selling, dicking around with charges than the time/xp you'll gain by using it. I really don't get the point of such marginal skilling upgrades existing when jagex is completely fine with releasing chaotic-equivalent combat gear.

Man, you sound like an idiot. The increase of experience gained from dragon to crystal in insane. It only takes 5 seconds to buy the crystal and you should already have the shards gathered, like common its only 120 shards XD
