Is that the kinda thing that would be useful? Or are you thinking more advanced content guides? Like guides to P2P raids or something? 🤔
On runelite, the simplest way to skip all of this is to install the “DPS Calculator” plugin. It shows you DPS, Max Hit, and Chance to Hit. It takes into account all factors to include, equipped gear, potions, prayers, and NPC being attacked. it’s made knowing when to repot or use certain prayers easy.
Oh wow that’s great! There’s so many plugins I learn about new ones all the time! That’s very useful! I’ll add it to my update list for the video! A lot of that middle bit was inaccurate and seemed like you were just making it up. The community has known exactly how combat works under the hood for years. It's on the wiki. Please do adequate research before tailoring a video to beginners. You then do post the correct formula for how to calculate defense roll, yet do it wrong just seconds later.... This is how accuracy works: Attack roll = (attack + 9) * (attack bonus + 64) Defence roll = (defence + 9) * (defense bonus + 64) You now have a number for the attacker and defender, roll them, if the attack is higher then they have landed a hit. This is both simpler than what you said, and more importantly actually how it works.
Hello dwakeling1 thanks for your comment. I’m not sure you’re getting the point of the video, as I’m just trying to give people a way to understand the factors affecting how combat works. So your explanation of how rolls work is good and I definitely could have used a simple explanation like that to focus on how combat rolls work, so I can take that on board definitely 👍 I also point all my videos at the OSRS wiki and mention if you want the exact formulas to go to the site. The point of my video is to try to get people to understand the basic components that affect the melee combat stats which I think it largely does. Showing the roll calculation is useful on one hand but, it’s the modifiers that are important, so yeah I’ll accept that I mixed level and equipment stats which aren’t equal, but if you want an estimate of your accuracy I think it’s a decent approach 🤷🏻♂️ and keeps it very simple for newer or less bothered players, level + equipment bonus + attack style bonus = rough accuracy estimate. Ultimately I would argue that yeah you won’t get the exact number the game uses but mathematically as a score it doesn’t really matter and it’s easy to work out on the fly in your head, which the actual calculation isn’t, most people will need to use a calculator. Some people will 100% want the exact calculation which is fine, but I dunno I think a lot of people hate any form of maths and as simple as the actual calculation is, some people won’t like it. Especially when there’s all the other concepts to understand, max mum hit and DPS being more important imo. 👍👍👍 I appreciate the comment though and I’ll look to improve my guides going forwards!
