This is the quote that set all of this in motion "Just had an awesome idea for our Twitter, I'll work on it when I get home from class." Thank you for covering this event we at OSURGC enjoyed the reaction from the community.
It's extremely ironic that it's Ohio State University. The amount of memes from the Osu! Community about getting confused for Ohio State University could fill a college thesis 12 times over. Anytime anyone from the game is trying to look for a tournament match they'll instead find the football team for Ohio State University
@Pulzanicus pulzanic it's complicated. I've played all 3. I started with Geometry Dash and it's my most played game. I grind on on Beat Saber to remain in the 4 digit rank. I got OSU because my friend convinced me to. I suck at it and hardly play though.
@@Fearless13468"started" as the first video game you have played ever or the first rhythm game? Don't get me wrong, I love geometry dash but geometry dash is not a rhythm game.
i hope you guys realize that the osu community is much larger and much more twitter based than Beat Saber is. ... this was a whole community vs community thing and OSU winning isnt exactly impressive as its had way more time to build up a community over the vr exclusive 2018 box destruction game.
This wasn't osu! vs beatsaber It was osu! vs every other rhythm game since everyone was getting salty at osu! reaching the grand finals and beating their favourite games
But BeatSaber making it that far is still amazing, i love it and i didnt even expect it to reach 2nd place. Are we really just going to act like it didn't do well? Osu is SIGNIFICANTLY more popular than BeatSaber in terms of player count, only thing BeatSaber has on it is views on some videos on RU-vid. it SHOULD NOT have even gotten close in the first place, let alone a bracket reset of all things. BeatSaber got more of a win out of this than Osu lmao everybody knew Osu was gonna win..
I just want to give some context. The only reason BTMC called Moist Critikal was because the beat saber community was trying to get Call Me Carson and they needed a contingency plan because they couldn't counter that otherwise on short notice.
I absolutely love the fact of peppy not posting or using website to promote the fight, because it is a community based game AND ONLY WE CAN DECIDE OUR FATE. I am absolutely proud of this community! We did it bois. GGs to Beat Saber community as well it was an amazing battle!
As much as i love beat saber, i cant help but be amazed by how much dedication both of these communities have, and regardless of the outcome of the poll, Both of these games are loved by so many, that's what matters. it's not often events like this happen to such an extreme degree.
Yeah I agree, I got a ping from the o!std side. I honestly find beatsaber and their community equally impressive compared to osu!, and have seen quite a number of cool feats pulled off. The extent to which this "war" occurred honestly was a bit further than I would have thought, but the dedication the folks in at least the o!std community have is certainly a lot, seeing as WhiteCat has almost 400 uploaded scores on his most played, not even counting probable offline practice (tho honestly I think Australian hypixel players doing melody's harp are more insane). I think the thing that makes the osu! community enjoy and defend their game so much as opposed to grinds like Hypixel SB is that there seems to be less of a required 'meta', and less of a constant push for more grinding, until you start hunting specific scores. And its here that I'll mention that I'm glad that the SSB (Sky Brokers) carry management/staff team got me into o!std, it is honestly an enjoyable game, and if I'd had a working twitter account, I would have voted. ("o!std" means "osu! - standard". should explain as I didn't find that obvious when I started.) Side note, hello from a random RNG carried hyperinon who you likely never knew, and probably will never remember, I'm kinda surprised to see you here, given you seemed to have started with Hypixel content. Hope ironman is going well, and goodbye.
As a member of the Belgian beatsaber community i can tell you that we were as stressed as the Osu! community although we lost this battle, the war will never stop
I don't think people realize the fact that while the beat saber community as a whole may be larger, the competitive scene is a lot smaller than osu, which is where most of the dedicated players are. Either way, I love both of these games and both communities put up a good fight.
@@warpath1854 I think part of the main reason for that is because the ranking system isn't official and most of the harder maps in the game aren't official
@@whenisdinner2137 and in a bad economy country like Brasil, were we need at least 3 whole minimum wages, we get that 1 per month, with signed work card, to get hands on a quest2 who now is the most economic to play beat saber, yeah, like me i loved OSU! I played since 2015, but now i mostly play beat saber, sorry if you don't understand my poor translation
Im fairly sure the osu community is way bigger than the Beat saber community, with a daily player count between 1k and 2k on average it barely compares to osu's 10k~20k. Pretty insane how close this was when taking this into account.
Well, beat saber is more popular after all. Especially for non rhythm gamer it’s way more interesting to watch beat saber than osu. I feel like logically beat saber would win in a popularity contest. It really came down the the strength of the osu community
@@MrTerrorM Better to participate because you don't need to buy a super high-end PC to play osu. Even with integrated graphics, you could still get 120+ fps on average in game
I love how both communities collectively put way too much effort into something this ridiculous to create memes and inside jokes and other shenanagins. I loved observing from the beat saber side and it was an amazing and hilarious experience. GGs
This literally shows that OSU! is such a loved game by many and the whole community will come together to beat the other competitors. Can we have all start a W train in the comments for OSU! ?
You know that Osu literally has significantly more players...right? Did anyone actually expect Osu to lose this rhythm game tourney lmao? BeatSaber still did amazing, a bracket reset wasn't even supposed to happen. It was supposed to be an absolute slaughter, but it wasn't.
@@DaLooseGoose11 Yes, BeatSaber really did great. Tho a lot of osu! players simply didn`t vote. Like myself. Again, it wasn`t only beatsaber against osu!. All other rhytm games were voting for beatsaber as well.
this is the first time I've seen a short like this (the one btmc made) that I actually cared to vote or do anything else because I knew that I had to if I wanted osu to win because every vote counted and if my favorite game was in question I wasn't gonna not vote
as a member of the beat saber community I'm so sad. we probably would've won too if the moderators of the BSMG server pinged, as its a server with 230,000 members
Fun fact, no one in the bsmg server had the ability to ping. Well, the owner did, but they’ve been awol for ages, and its only the admins keeping things in check. The admins do not have the ability to ping, so they were just being absolutely berated for something they couldn’t even do lol. I will admit, I did pester them a bit too, but I didn’t know this was the situation at the time.
I myself am a Beat-saber player but I must give respect and credit where due, the osu community is strong, they have a fighting spirit... tho I must look down upon turning to the dark arts, all is fair in war.
the thing with osu vs beatsaber is u have to actually be fit to play beatsaber, my friend plays osu and hes massive, all my beatsaber friends are fit, says alot ab osu vs beatsaber
4:58 im a beat saber player, and tbh, im not surprised camelia was for beat saber, i still remember being there on his first stream of playing beat saber and became infatuated with the game, and vr as a whole
personally think beatsaber is just a better game overall, maybe i havent seen the cool side of osu yet but to me i'd rather take swinging and dancing to just clicking
I play both osu! and Beat Saber. Both games are great. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter which you prefer. We are all rhythm gamers, all with different levels of skill.
It made no sense for beat saber to win anyways due to needing a vr headset to actually play This was literally osu! vs self-hating osu! + rest of the rhythm game community + the 5 people that play beat saber
meanwhile, me, having absolutely no clue about all these shits that were happening, seeing the pull in the recommendation, picking osu! cuz i play osu and not beatsaber:
To be fair, osu in the first place is one of the long runnin rhythm games and one of the longest lasting communities, also beat saber requires vr headset and osu dont so at the end, the cost of playing osu is so much lower
Even if osu won technically, the fact that it was always within like 1% difference shows how great and popular both rythm games are. Both games could have won here!
Basically OSU is the one game who carries all the Rythm games since it got released.... but I like to think of it more as a family then rivals ... Since I enjoy many Rythm games and Osu is just the simplest to access and to modify. I am a HUUUGE Fan of Beat Saber too and I play Muse Dash, Audiosurf, Hatsune Miku Project Diva and so on.... that's why I don't understand why people even fight about that .... were they afraid that Osu would die after losing ?
The fact that beat saber was able to beat osu in the first place was huge for our community but I’m happy with how this tournament turned out (beat saber is the better game skillfully🤓)
for me, on the surface and for less coordinated people, beatsaber is more fun. However the hardest (completable) osu map requires a great deal more skill than the hardest (completable) beat saber maps.
The bummer part where arcade cabinet games are never going to win because they're not accessible to everyone like mobile and pc rhythm games. Chunithm and SDVX are great rhythm games, but it's only possible to play these games if you live near a round 1.
Literally insane how it went from a calm and fun poll to see what people enjoy the most when it comes to rhythm games to *GYZE THIS IS LITERALLY IT OUR PRIDE AND HONOR IS AT STAKE WINNER TAKES ALL WE MUST PERSEVERE AND TAKE VICTORY CHARGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!*
I don’t even like osu standard, but this community’s great. In fact, I prefer beatsaber, lol. Of course, my favorite rhythm game is osu mania, so I have a bias towards osu.
