I love looking through my older tiles and came across one with the pattern OTM by CZT Cari Camarra (it’s the grid pattern) and wanted to share it in a video. I’ve also been looking at various ways that others have drawn the pattern Henna Drum by CZT Jane MacKugler. The photo from my scrapbook shows the names of the artists that inspired my tile. I couldn’t find a step out for OTM, so I created my own. It’s not a difficult pattern, but there’s a trick to starting each triangle the same way.
Pattern used in this video:
OTM by CZT Cari Camarra
Henna Drum by CZT Jane MacKugler
Supplies Used in the video:
Zendala, 3.5" Zentangle tile, a sketchbook, or any paper
Black Micron 01 pen or PN (or your choice of pens and colors)
Graphite pencil
Blending stump
Optional: Colored pens or pencils

I LOVE this tile....and the shading is perfect! I can't wait to draw this tomorrow! I am wondering how you store your tiles? Thanks for sharing, always makes me so happy to see a new one from you! Hugs! Oh, by the way, we are wintering in Arizona so can't complain about the weather but we head back to Canada soon....LOL....back to complaining!!!!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it and hope you enjoy drawing it. As for my tiles, I used to keep them in albums that have 3.5" pockets, but now I just toss them into a box because I have so many! LOL! I have photo corners that can be used to put them into regular srapbook pages also.

@@notperfectzen Thanks for your response, the album idea is a good one but knowing me they would eventually end up in a box too!!!!

Can you tell me how the paper clip keeps tortilla sharp. If I use the sand paper I’m not happy with the edge. Thank you.
@notperfectzen
@notperfectzen 3 месяца назад
The paper clip helps push the point out because I tend to push too hard on mine and flatten them. Since these are only rolled paper, it’s not easy to actually sharpen them. I also have blending stumps that can be sharpened. I’ll try to remember to show what I mean in a future video. Thanks for asking. 🥰❤️

I also try rubbing my pencil on a clean kneaded eraser. But they do get too old. I go through them like water. lol@@notperfectzen

@@Lorie_Fossa_Artist_CZTI bought a nice set of tortillions and blending stumps in a case from Amazon a year or two ago. It came with a tool that’s a stack of sandpaper pages stabled to a back/handle. I’ve sometimes rubbed my tortillions on that to “clean” them. It’s pretty rough and really destroys the surface though, so you need a light touch. I imagine it works better with the blending stumps, that are more solid. I’ve had success with the paper clip method as well, but I’ll need to try your blended eraser trick. Pretty sure my blended eraser came in that same kit. :) It was a pretty good deal at $8-10 for the whole collection, and I haven’t even gone through half of them yet!

Hi Dawn, yes, I use that sandpaper stick too, I like the paperclip idea, that's genius on Bararas behalf! I find the kneaded eraser useful if I need a very smooth blender, that's the only reason I suggested it as another option in addition to Barbara's idea. There are various qualities of blending sticks as well, all very cheap but I find certain ones do not hold up as well as others, so the quality of the rolled paper does hold some weight too. 💓@@DawnDavidson It's so great when we can all share ideas.

@@Lorie_Fossa_Artist_CZT @DawnDavidson I also bought the large package of tortillions and blending stumps and still have many left. I've never tried cleaning my tortillion on the kneaded eraser. I'll have to try it. As for the paperclip idea, I learned it from other CZTs and it's so helpful. Thank you for sharing your ideas here too. Happy tangling!!
