Watch the video of Jane Vennik, Research Fellow in Primary Care at the University of Southampton, demonstrating the nasal balloon autoinflation technique using Otovent.
In a clinical trial published in July 2015, Jane, Dr Ian Williamson, and colleagues found that nasal balloon autoinflation is a feasible, safe and effective treatment for Glue Ear that should be used more often.

Absolutely brilliant little device. Spent two years suffering from this condition. Experiencing occasional dizzy spells and the feeling my head was going to explode from the pressure buildup in my ear. After several wasted trips to ENT specialist, and having MIR scan done on my ears, non of these "specialist" could tell me I had this Gluear condition.. After using the Otovent three times in each nostril I have found the pressure in my affected ear has returned to normal. Thanks for creating this device. 👌👍

😢Today my first day using this tool , I did all that in both ways for both ears but non opened, the air stays in the balloon and I feel nothing just pressure of the air trying to escape from my nose 👃 why?

@@passingby3060 read the instructions, try again. When you inflate the balloon from your nostril, you must keep the opposite nostril closed and perform repeated swallowing action until the balloon is deflated. This allows your blocked tube to expand slightly and allow blocking mucous to be drawn down. Trust me it does work, you may not get instant results but use it once in the morning & evening does remove blockage. 👍

@@passingby3060 no problem. Around a week after the mucous had drained from my eustachian tube, I was forced to cough as I felt something was stuck in my tonsil. Examining my throat a small black stone was seen emerging from my eustachian tube that had been blocked. I occasionally have to use the Otovent to equalise the pressure in my ear but it is no way near the problem I had before. 👍🏾

@@Tony-Tequalla glad to here it worked for you and there is hope. Both my ears hurt occasionally and feel full sometimes, in the last 2 years I visited 5 doctors all said there is nothing in them no infection in outer or middle or inner ears ... by myself I decided to take antibiotics, I used apple cider vinegar , olive oil and garlic, bought natural ear drops, antibiotics ear drops and put alcohol, took pain killer you name it all were temporary solutions to ease the pain but after I stop the pain comes back... last week I explained the situation to Chatgpt AI and google bard AI, perplexity AI and bing AI all agreed on Eustachian tube dysfunction I searched RU-vid for a solution and came across a video on about ear popping and though otovent might help after reading many reviews on amazon and RU-vid all about the same problem as mine ... and because no matter how many times I do valsalva maneuver my ears don't open I realised that I must have glue ears.... I can hear clearly but the pain in my ears keeps coming every 3 or 4 days... I hope this help me 🤞🙏

My daughter used one occasionally for years to combat ear infections and to keep from needing new tubes. It worked like a charm.

Hi. I've seen two methods: This one, inflating the ballon, but it sounds a little "extreme" for me. The first time the balloon is used it is very strong, I couldn't even inflate it using my mouth!. But I've seen the other method, not mentioned in the manual, (for adults) where you inflate the balloon, pinch the neck, block one nostril, release the air in the other one using the balloon, and then swallow some water while doing it. What's the difference between both? I have a very strong blockage, I don't feel any better after doing the last method, but I'm scared to do the other one.

I tried the first method, and it was effective, stronger, and worked. Then I tried the second method and it worked too, so both are good, but inflating the balloon using the nose is stronger than the other one.

@@sukhrajsingh2587 I am still having the problem. I have a pain and headache episode every week because of it, and the otovent hasn't popped it yet, but I'm using it once a day. What helps a little and gives me little control is: I put some drops of rubbing alcohol Isopropyl. It works alone sometimes, but if not, I follow it with 3 drops of Canesten ear drops after the alcohol is dried. Olive oil infused with garlic helps also, and it's not smelly as you might imagine. I do massage (search for eustachian tube dysfunction massage on RU-vid). It helps, especially with easing the headache, and it helps in the external drainage in the ear channels. Do push with your fingers or knuckles on the area around your ear and do some chewing. Move your jawbone against your fingers and try to move your fingers while doing it towards your throat to move what might be blocking the tubes inside, as this condition is called glue ears. Massaging helps too. What I used to do before (and it solved it 100% but temporarily) was using Ciprobay HC ear drops. It cures it 100% while using it, but when you stop, the condition comes back. What I suggest, along with consulting a doctor, is to try these ear drops for a full course of 7 days, and afterwards use it once or twice a week when you start feeling the pain crawling slowly. You shouldn't use these ear drops all the time, but one pharmacist told me it's fine to use them when necessary after you are done with the main course. I will buy them again because it's the only solution that totally hides or solves the issue. I sleep better when I use them. Now my sleeping is horrible. Exercise and make your blood circulation moving on a regular basis. Valsalva technique helps a little. Do it occasionally during the day. NOTE: In case you found a better permanent solution, please tell me 🙏

I do something similar without the balloon (Hold your nose and blow) after years of issues. It really only worked after I did some stretching and "prep" exercises I found from another person online. I could feel my tubes open and a crackling popping as the air equalized but they would close back up. After continuing with the exercises I effectively stretched the muscles around my neck and head, and my tubes enough that they open more easily now. One of the most important things I have found as well is staying hydrated as it all can kind of gunk up and stick it closed. The last exercise that involves taking several sips of water while holding your nose really helps with this and is the quickest way for me to resolve the issue now.
