I thanks big help... I've been doing this for 2yrs now and i had interstate because I was over the road my first or... Been running local the last yr and my new company said I had to go to the DMV and I've been stressing the hell out thinking I was going to lose my Ls until I seen the paperwork and tired l typed in the DMV terminology of what the issue was... Now I'm at easy knowing all I gotta do is just change it so I can deliver locally easily... Funny thing is I've been pulled into scales for full inspections at least 5x this past yr and this was never in issue... Just lucky I guess
Well honestly you don't have to change from interstate to intrastate unless you want to. You can just get a common carrier number for that state. The number is relatively inexpensive for the state.
Well let me say it like this. Interstate gives you the authority to pick something up in one state and deliver it in another. Intrastate gives you the authority to pick up in a state and deliver in the same state. Honestly I have not heard of many people being dinged for not have intrastate authority. But I was stopped in Illinois doing a local run and they checked to see if I had intrastate authority. Luckily I had it because I use to run local for construction. Not exactly sure what the fine is if you don't have intrastate for a certain state and you get popped doing a local run. Honestly I would just get interstate and take my chances......lbvs but I did the video so people can't say they didn't know it was a difference.
Legally you need a trip permit for Nevada. So technically you could do so but I assuming you mean without a trip permit right? Since it's so close if you didn't cross any scales (if that is possible) one could assume that you could sneak over there and back but I would advise against it unless the load paid extremely well?
I'm not sure but I imagine if you had interstate authority it would be more of a headache and time loss than anything else. Around my way they have specific police that look for it but they usually busy harassing the construction drivers....lol
If I stey Intra-state do I need an Ifta sticker & am I exempt from drug testing probably I will go no further than 50 miles radius of home base delivering loads of Anthracite ????
Lol knawl bruh dot is a safety number usually associated with interstate movements but not necessarily. Intrastate is covered by individual state issued numbers usually referred to as common carrier numbers. You are correct on the mc # covering interstate. The dot # does not have any operating authority doe.
Both? Well intrastate only applies if you pick up and deliver in the same state but it is seldom enforced. But I would at least do it in the state I live in because I think they would be the least understanding if you get caught and I speak from experience.... Lbvs
