- And now we learn that Jonathan Pitre aka 'Butterfly Boy' has passed away. :-( As rough as things were for the Sens on the ice, there some real-life tragedies that affected them off it & away from the game even more.
KdJ2's Twin I'm a flyers fan, but why did they deserve to go to the cup? I think the Penguins 100 percent outplayed the sens in that series it was honestly a miracle that the sens got to that game 7 in my opinion lol
Dalton Bew we deserved to win by a MILE in terms of HOCKEY. I am saying the sens deserved it way more because they havent won a cup yet after so long. And the sad stories of the players on their team.
Dalton Bew You must have watched the highlights because the Senators were playing out of their minds all series. Had Penguins backed right up to the wall. But the better team won, regardless of who out played who.
Right but what is the point? These things we already know. 5 minutes of season low lights. It tells us nothing. The SEns had a bad year, we know. 5 minutes? I'm sorry but Scott Morrison talks in his videos like he is revealing a grand story but there is just stuff average hockey fans already know. How about a story on why PK Subban was really traded. Or how about a story on why country music sucks so bad? Seriously, this said nothing.
Not everyone knows all Sens fans know but anyone else who might be just be learning just today my dad who's a nucks fan asked what went wrong this year and I said these things this video does a good job explaining. I am tired of hearing the 1 goal away comment as a fan though.
It was but I think they also should have put some of the blame on the players wives. How hard is it to just get along and not cause a major distraction? All they had to do was attend a few team functions and be nice too each other. Instead they were fighting to the point where restraining orders and trades had to happen.
I really do feel bad for the Senators, I don’t know what’s going on with them and my boys after the 2017 playoffs. Or how the hell did Colorado become a playoff team? Why is Chicago and Montreal somehow losing some games? It doesn’t make sense. Edit: are you still loyal to your team that has bad seasons. I still am, I’ll never give up on my Oilers, I know it’s gonna be a while for my team to win a Stanley Cup.
Montreal is ass, just like Edmonton. Price and McDavid can't hold up that much trash on their shoulders. Colorado had a healthy Johnson and Varlamov this year, while MacKinnon found his skates. Chicago traded away Panarin.
Edmonton Boy - Rumors are saying Senators, they are diving for Dahlin. The AVS got stronger when Duchene left with his drama. MacKinnon and Rantanen came into there game. I wonder too about the Senator's.
Both Edmonton and Ottawa have lots of talent. I hope both make the playoffs next year and I think they both will. I think teams started to understand the systems of how both teams were playing. Last year McDavid caught a lot of people by surprise and the Sens 1-3-1 was hard to get by.
I personally think he picked it up bc of the uncertainity of being moved over the summer.I still believe he will stay with the sens but its a shame that he even feels he has to grab that puck.
Stupid argument. Let's say he listens, packs it in and goes. Then what? Who foots the bill? Who is going to dump money in to a team that has fans who don't show up? Lose Melnyk, lose the team.
Owners shouldn't be trying to run sports franchises like grocery stores. A sports franchise is like a really expensive train set for super-rich people. If you can't afford to treat it as something you mostly pay for for you own entertainment --- time to step aside.
As a Canucks fan, I could feel the upset you guys feel toward your home team. Yes, we are still struggling from bouncing back, but we can see the better day will be coming soon. Don't lose faith to your team, support them and so the owner that you guys will back the team up. A (or a few) season happens, just don't let it drag you down. Hang it there guys!
Fans spent 4 to 6 grand on 4 billboards to tell him to get out. Would have been nice had those fans spent that money to get to the rink and support our boys. Melnyk may be temperamental but he did come in 2003 to save the team and keep it in Ottawa. He didn't have too and since then he's been repaid with vile hatred from a vocal part of our fanbase. Ottawa isn't a great hockey town, the majority of our populace is Habs or Leafs fans. We are a minority within our own city. With the Phoenix Pay fiasco, general bad economy, poor arena location, and in general being a government city it's not great for a budget team like the Sens. That being said we love our team. Born and raised on the team, I hate seeing a sea of blue or habs at home games it pains me but that is what the situation is. The fans are passionate but real life gets in the way hopefully this new Flats deal will pave the way for a Sens resurgence. Perhaps Melnyk will feel inclined to sink more money into the team should the Flats do well both Arena and development. One can hope that we last that long. Must say though the drama of this year and the last has been incredible I hope we get less of that next year and can just focus on hockey.
Yeah but last I heard the team Duchene was traded to isn't doing so well (67 pts) even with the addition of his skills. The team he left is doing quite well (93 pts) considering where they started when Duchene left. Almost an overnight turnaround once Duchene left. Doesn't matter if one player has 1000 points per game if the team can't win. I know it sounds ridiculous but I'm convinced Duchene curses whatever team he's on or maybe he just doesn't play well with others. Time will tell but for some reason I think karma has it out for him.
Lebby 1074 me Also as a pens fan it's crazy how they played Ottawa and they were one shot away to abandoning ship and getting rid of everyone. Hoffman, Turris, phaneuf, karlsson, brassard, methot are all gone
You have to draft well and develop your players. It is still the best way. The Sens have tried the quick fix wheel and deal. THe Habs have finally clued into this. Personally I think they need an experienced GM.
As a leafs fan who saw what happen in 2015 and 2016 our teams may be rivals I’m going to tell senators fans a rebuild is worth it and you’ll find your way soon. If send get pick #1 or 2 I personally think you guys will be back to becoming contenders. Maybe not next year but definite 2021-2022 seems realistic and possible. Also watching a bad thing is better then watching a good team in some ways you guys will get there don’t worry . If the sens can get more money then it is possible that maybe by 2022 you guys could get players like laine, gadreau, subban, letang etc .
What's really sad is just the other day, I had completely forgotten about Ottawa. I was thinking about the NHL playoff bracket. And then I thought about who in the eastern conference didn't make the playoffs. I could think of everyone but Ottawa. And Ottawa had been just one shot away from winning the conference. I had to look up the standings to remember them.
at 3:01 thats exatly it their 2017 playoff run was a perfect storm and nothing more than that the warning signs were there like getting taken to the woodshed on shots against and scoring chances every night and to be honest I think had Boston been healthy in that first round series I think they would have beaten the sens more than likely
I think he took puck simply because he doesn't know it could be last game but I don't think he was thinking I'm done here more like not sure what's going to happen I'll take this just in case
Sens lost that overtime game vs the Pens because Boucher cracked and played his line 4 first. The moment line 4 went on, the Pens sent out Crosby. Sitting at home, I was repeating "don't you put line 4 out there, Boucher..." Did no good. GG.
what a fall from grace... If we can sign ek duch and stone and with slightly better goaltending I see no reason can't be back in playoffs next year... plus a potential top 3 pick + guys like Chabot/ wolanin/ logan / white / formenton/ batherson. there is some good young talent in the system.
The Sens a good team they are missing confidence. Alot of the drama got to them and they just didn't play the same. Now, if the Sens can have a few good defensemen next season they'll be back in
- It's still baffling to see how a team that came achingly close to playing for the Stanley Cup last June fell so far so fast; it's like their slow start just snowballed into one disaster after another. Both on the ice & off. Even their celebratory outdoor game was overshadowed by controversy & uncertainty. What should've been a carry-over from their successful playoff run last season completely fell apart at the seams. If they even think of trading Karlsson - it's a distinct possibility here, let's not kid ourselves - then Ottawa's rebuild will be a lot more tedious than initially thought. If they're actually considering a trade, they have to get as best a huge return for Karlsson as possible.
I think he picked up the luck to give a speech to the team about the season and that it can’t happen again. I don’t think it means he is leaving. Not a sens fan btw
Senators need a whole new everything. New arena, new owner/management, new players. Just blow everything up and start from the ground up instead of patching up roster spots.
Karlsson leaving + (insert team) getting Dahlin instead of us + Duchene staying so-so + possibilities of Hoffman, Stone, and Ryan leaving + Melnyk demoting the team itself = more years of misery, like this one.
To many people jumping the gun, including ownership, the sens haven't missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons since 1995, it was a bad season, a lot of ish went wrong, the team had to face a lot of personal adversity, it's just been bad, next season is a new season, they'll go into the season with a top 5 pick as well, let's see next season.
They have to trade Karlsson and start the rebuild. I doubt Karlsson will want to stay for that 4-7 year process anyway. Might as well get a first round draft pick and a prospect or two while you can.
Well if he has a history of having a really good season followed by a bad one I have high hopes for the senators next year, especially with the new goalie pick and who knows what else in the coming year, maybe duchene during training camp will build good bonds with the guys and maybe they will just click like the turris stone karlson combo I remember only with duchene instead
It’s so sad. What happened to the sens as pens it’s painful see they fell apart after they where not espeted go far in 2017 playoffs one goal from cup final after they have. Add confidence they trade for Matthew duche to help with Their Center, Depp than they fall apart drama with Hoffman’s girlfriend at Eric’s wife they lose brassard than Hoffman in offseason than their captain than lose mark stone their heart and souls after Hoffman and Eric Ryan digzel they lose as a well and Matt they have lost so much and fell apart
well i do feel bad for you sens you give us pens fans a scare last year I was hoping we could repeat that magic but seems unlikely for another few years. #letsgopens
i mean my hometown ohl team (erie otters) won the ohl championship and lost 4-3 in the memorial cup final last season and finished 4th to last this season
congratulations San Jose. You won. I am from Ottawa. I have been an Ottawa Sens fan for 20 years. Four days ago I found out about the trade because I was on vacation in Harare, Zimbabwe. Today I bought a ticket to San Jose. I plan to buy a condo one street from the rink. I called Erik. I asked him if lunch Thursday at noon would work. He didn't reply. I understand. Time is ticking. You never know what happens next. Yesterday I held a grilled cheese party. It was mandatory that everyone who attended dressed up like Erik. We took a group selfie. I sent it to Erik. No reply. Erik I wish you the best of luck. Ill see you in San Jose!!!!!!!! Tell Melissa cookies and milk on me. You will receive the email shortly. Rest up!!! Big year ahead. Go Sharks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew right when Vegas picked methot Ottawa was screwed they had tried almost every combination of d men with Karlason but him and methot just had that unbreakable bond
PRYVTgomerPYLE - Leafs are a winning market now! What player doesn't wanna help bring The Cup back to the most historical franchise in NHL history. U realize whats gonna happen when they win The Cup! There will be riots sweeping the nation! Its gonna be insane! Its been half a Century since The Leafs won Lords Stanley Cup. The Leafs just need one more piece. And that's one good star defencemen. Like a Karlsson or a Doughty.
They need a defensive defenceman, which Karlsson is not. He also captained a rival team that drafted him... Keep dreaming, it is never going to happen! Doughty likely wont go either. The kings would have to be willing to let him go... Which I doubt. He has a 7mil a year contract for another year after this one... The Leafs do not need to be trading away prospects for a guy who has high mileage already and a high dollar contract. I know about the Leafs bud, I grew up in Toronto. LUL ;-P BTW Karlsson wont go to Tampa either. When they traded for McDonough that nixed any possibility of Karlsson going there. Plus they still have to resign Sustr this offseason... The cap space just doesn't work. I bet he goes to Dallas. With Lehtonen, Roussel and Hamhuis's contracts expiring... They will have a good 10 mil to spend on Erik. Plus, Methot (his old line mate) is already there... Warm weather, booming economy and low media profile for ice hockey... It is all plus's there. #JusSayin
now that we know Calgary is receiving revenue sharing, Ottawa must be in the same boat. Meaning the NHL Governors (not Bettman) will not tolerate this situation if there is a feasible option like Houston.
Im a Sens fan they are talking about that the Sens suck give it up its true thats what this video is saying how come they never made one on these for the leafs when they sucked for the last 30 years until this year
The Leafs were still selling out The Air Canada Center up until about 6 years ago. Then they waited 3 years the bitching never stopped. Fans started getting worse threw team products on the ice and left during the games. Finally they decided something needed to be done for their precious money to keep coming in. Then thank god Brendan Shanahan showed up, wiped the place clean. The sens club is losing money fast. Plus Eugene Melnyk is crazy/opinionated from what i can tell. I don't think the players are the problem. The sens have a great club, seems like they are under more pressure than most teams.
It's almost as if Matt Duchene is SEVERELY overrated. Yes, I know that he isn't the only reason the Sens were bad this year, but I really think that he wasn't worth the price that they paid. Also, Melnyk is a horrible owner.
The problem is the coach, with his constant line juggling, and goaltending. I like Anderson, but it looks like he's feeling his age and is too afraid to admit it
Even though I do not care for the Sens (life long Leafs fan) and I cannot say that I like Karlsson either, I still feel for this team. I know, WE the Leafs fans know, exactly what this feels like. I just hope this doesn't last a decade for them, like it did us. BTW I would NEVER, EVER wish what happened to Erik this year, to anyone happen to anyone on this planet! You can see the frustration and depression on his face. I can only imagine how hard this is for him... To lose a child and have to make a decision whether or not to leave an organization that he helped reach the great heights, to being bottom feeders, would be overwhelming. If you ask me, it is time for Erik to leave... I do not care where he ends up, he needs a change of scenery. He needs to make himself happy again. It has been a long hard road for him. If you are a Sens fan and are salty about this comment, think about this for a moment. Even the beloved "Alfie" left to go pursue a championship elsewhere. Mats did the same on Toronto, Ray did it in Boston. It is a part of the game...
i dont care how much times they lose or win OTTAWA WILL ALWAYS BE MY TEAM AND WERE GONNA MAKE THE 2018-2019 SEASON REALLY COUNT! WHOS WITH ME??? edit: dont mind my username and picture i just like anaheim to :P
I know looks bad but look what got from it, two chances first round Sturtle, and by 2020-2021 season Ottawa Senators might make the playoffs next season, who knows. Stop looking at the negatives and look at the positives instead. And Ottawa Senators needs faith. Remember Peter Pan and Wendy where a fairy got shot by the arrow 🏹 and lived because everyone starts believing, that is what Ottawa Senators needs right now from the fans and then maybe they will wake up and win the Stanley Cup, let's try and see what happens
