I’m a very very big otter messer collector I love them knives anything made in sologen Germany is of the highest quality and that’s why I’m always trying to get the collection to grow!!!! Thanks for showing that piece it’s a very nice knife…… stay well out there😊
Good to see the UK guys doing a traveling knife. The Otter Classic is one I'll have to consider adding to the collection. Thanks for the detailed look, Slippy.
Thanks John, I'll definitely be taking a look at other otter knives, seems like a brand I've overlooked. Definitely need to get myself some otter knives 🫡
Otter makes a variaty of great traditional knives, made by hand in Solingen. They can get really pricey, but this one is quite affordable. Thank you for the review Matt.
It’s a simple, classy and usable looking knife. Great review. Loving this idea of passing a knife around to get multiple reviews on the same knife. I know Martin said it had been done in the past, but it’s great he’s rekindled the idea.
Got a Mercator from Ray Mears shop and was blown away by the quality. I'm on a buy a half dozen knives and no other I've never got around to buying quest, have two of them, next a Case then a wood scaled Otter, this would fit the bill very nicely!
Slippy I own a boker solingen bog oak barlow it's fantastic fit and finish Germans knows how to make great tools for years I do prefer natural scales on my knives your knife is a beautiful example of german craft 👍🦊🐾🇮🇹🍻
The wood on that is sweet! Big fan on wood scales and handles! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and review with us bruv! Cheers, Kimmers and Jerbs 👍🏼🇬🇧🔥🔪🔥🇨🇦👍🏼
I love it and I would definitely get one if it came in Carbon steel. I have the Black Cat Mecerator and an Otter Messer Anchor knife, both in Carbon steel. I don't really trust German Rostfrei blades. They are not always clear on what Solegen high quality stainless steel actually is. Anyway, I believe wooden handles look better with a blade with patina. The wood takes a lovely dark colour after being used a lot due to the natural oils on our hands. I have a Hen & Rooster Stockman and I don't know what steel it is. It's a great knife nonetheless. I would also be careful with quality control from German Soligen knives. I have had issues with Boker knives which are expensive. That being said I love Germany and have been there many times.
Great knife and great that you’re doing a traveling knife in the UK! A bit coincidentally, the Knipex 16 20 50 going around here likely has Otter-Messer as the OEM. BTW, has your prize arrived yet, or do we think customs got it?
