Regardless of whether you love or hate the Hapsburgs, one thing is indisputable: their family's influence on the affairs of the world on both hemispheres is one of the most profound and unsurpassed in history.

Otto von Habsburg's life and work for European unity demonstrates that, despite some politicians' attempts to remove the legacy of this great family, he was, nevertheless, a true European king and will be remembered long after those pretenders are forgotten.

Rest in Peace, Otto von Habsburg-Lorraine (Lothringen). His death at 98 and the recent beatification of his father, the Emperor & King Karl of Austria-Hungary, should remind us of the great legacy of the Habsburgs in Europe. Austria would not have existed without them. The city of Vienna (Wien) would not have been the marvelous cultural center it was under them (and under the republic has lost). Also, it should remind us of the tragic loss of unity in Central Europe after WW I without them.

If Otto would had become emperor he would had crushed the record of longest reiging monarch. He would had reigned for over 89 years. Current record is 72. Michael of Romania also would have broken that record as he would had reigned for 77 years plus the just under 3 years of his first reign.

He was a great man who was a unifying figure. I like him he stood up for the Jews and was very anti Nazism. I’m Jewish myself so I admire this man. His father wanted peace to end that dreadful war in 1916. It was the German emperor who was bad.

Otto von Habsburg is just a soldier's boy, Otto's father signed with Karl Von Osterreich and was used as an impersonator for Karl Von Osterreich. The truth is known but it is not publicly said because now Austria is ruled by the chosen people of the people.
