I love this move. I'm not even that advanced and I've pulled it off in both my judo randori and bjj rolls. People never see the sweep coming, then they're already on their back.
One question: I keep reading implications that this might be a combination of o uchi gari and harai tsuri komi ashi. I would argue it is not a combination, but just a setup for harai tsuri komi ashi - since the instructor clearly never intends to throw an o uchi gari in the first place. In my mind, it would just be a combination, if you really intended to throw the o uchi gari and then changed because of Uke's reaction.
harai tsurikomi ashi is an advancing foot sweep (your sweep is going forward from your body) with Uke retreating from you. De ashi barai is a sidways sweep with uke usually advancing towards you.
@@Boost00130 it is the opposite De means advancing so you take 1 foot that is in front Harai tsurikomi ashi is while moving forwards while lifting and pulling and taking both legs
