I'm hearing about regulations for using certain batteries in a living space where you need to have outside venting and sealed from allowing possible gasses created by some chemistries of lithium batteries into a living space. These batteries need a classification as needing venting and the batteries that don't need venting!
@@HOBOTECH you are saying that these solar generators never have thermal run away? You have seen the EVs go up in flames and the gasses development is rapid. This couldn't happen with a solar generator?
@@HOBOTECH as I mentioned that I've heard that state government were making regulations on the use of certain lithium batteries being used in RVs. Some guys made a video on an had other regulations that might get passed. Just a heads up for possible unhappy faces.
Last year at this time, I picked up an OUPES 2400 for $1k...now $700. I take it off road and it has been thrown up and on its back a couple of times. Still works great. What works well for me is there are two 230W AC chargers (sort of clunky at first glance). The stock inverter that feeds the truck bed outlet only supports up to 400W. I use only one of the chargers and keep the power station topped off most of the time. It can also be used while charging. Company has good products and they seldom go on sale.
I've been using a Mega 2 for about 3 months now. It is my main UPS on a server rack in my basement. It has been working really well. One issue I have is wifi access. Not sure why, but it was hard to setup. Then it worked - until it stopped working. Not sure why it is so fickle. Anyway, the wifi is nice but I did not use it often. It's a nice to have but not a deal breaker.
Just out of curiosity, have you checked out those relatively new Yoshino solid state power generators? Would be curious to see them run through a (Bang! Bang!) double-fisted Hobotech lab test 😬
Yo HOBOTECH been watching u for awhile.. love your reviews! Especially on electric coolers. My problem is I live in Hawaii an I can't find any one to ship them over 😓 and also solar generators..
My dad is trying to use the mega 5 as a backup for his oxygen condenser. He is looking at the Mega 5 with the extra battery. The condenser uses 588 amp. Do you think this would be a good option?
I have not yet seen anyone use the Mega 2/3 to charge their Tesla. Other power stations require to to use a neutral to ground bonding plug, or Ecoflow Pro 3 has the ability to bypass this in the app. Any chance we can use the TT-30 outlet on here to charge a Tesla?

Could you make a video on how to build a solar powered home refrigerator (or freezer) with battery backup so I never have to worry about losing my food in an extended outage? I have a compact fridge that uses 405 kWh per year. My house gets a lot of direct sunlight (practically all day). What would you recommend to off-grid just my fridge? I watch a lot of your videos. Probably most of them. I'm just really struggling with the 12/24/48v thing. Not sure which way to go with that and how to pair battery voltage with inverters. I understand that I want the smallest inverter for the job so there is less loss. If you link to the parts I need I will buy through them. Thanks for all your videos. I've learned a lot!
You simply buy a power station with UPS that's large enough to run the fridge for several days. When the power goes out, the power station takes over. Done.
