Albon seems to be in the same position of Lando, the team wants them but the team isn't providing the best car. Albon does have the experience of a top team unlike Lando and being chewed up then thrown away when he doesn't work anymore so I would say he is less likely to make a big jump. Williams has investment now, they are getting new staff and the team principle change is working well so the only thing holding them back now is facilities but they should be able to get past Haas, Alfa and Alpha Tauri if they stick on their current course.

@@Kaimax61 Hulk has 6 points more than Tsunoda so I don’t know what you’re talking about. The problem I have with their race day ratings is that it’s heavily skewed towards the cars at the front. I really like the objectivity of the pro-rated scores across the season. It does eliminate the emotional connection and recency bias, even when you feel it should be different. The biggest example of this for me is RUS ranking, which for me emotionally should have been 6th or 7th. Good job with this.
@jamespoole3531
@jamespoole3531 Год назад
But these rankings have put Perez comfortably in the top 10 when he’s been one of the worst drivers this year. 1st and 2nd places are what he SHOULD be getting-anything else is underperforming, let alone what he’s doing in qualifying.
@cgf72
@cgf72 Год назад
@@jamespoole3531 hi there. No debate, we pretty much all agree with you, but ... context is everything. This specific scoring metric: - Is NOT based on looking back over the 12 races and assessing the overall performance with every race in the rearview mirror. - Is based on the scores which were given by Matt & Tommy after each race this season. So let's use Perez as an example, the first couple of races Perez underperformed, he likely scored well based on a significant recovery drive. If they had a silver ball and knew it was going to be one mess up after the other, he might have received a worse score per race. This approach is different for sure, but it's interesting because it removes the subjectivity of "Perez can't be in the top 10, because he's driving the best car on the grid and failed to make Q3 5 races in a row". It's each moment in time added together and divided by number of races.

What I like about this list is that even though it's unbiased, it shows what everyone (at least most) F1 think, and that's the fact that Max, Alonso, and Hamilton are just better drivers than everyone else. He was ahead in the standings because Leclerc got an engine issue in the first race (while being P2) which resulted in a 10 place grid penalty in the second race. He lost something like 22 to 30 points in these two races to no fault of his own.

Magnussen should be beating Hulkenberg and I think he will be once the car develops. That said, in the races magnussen has been besting Hulkenberg (not looking too much at placement but more laptimes) so actually luck or lack thereof seems to be a factor in the results. Kmag also opted for running with Hulkenbergs setup seeing hos onelap speed but that turned out to be a poor choice as speed just bleeds out as the tires fade away in the race. Magnussen will bounce back no doubt.

Alonso has been great this season but a lot of his crazy high grades came when we were totally shocked that the AM was the 2nd fastest car. Had Lewis started the season the same way I'm not sure he'd have been receiving 10s like Alonso did simply because we expect stuff like that from him and Mercedes. But now we're more used to where each team is. Not saying the bias would've been that much, I'd still have Alonso in the top 3 with the top 3 all being comfortably ahead of anyone else. Also this is just my opinion.

Nice video guys, thank you for the upload I know that this ranking is an average of all races, so I'll just restrict my opinion to the qualitative ranking. I agree with most of the ranking, I just have the following remarks: 1) Carlos Sainz: It seems to me that this ranking is way too harsh for him, not least because it has been a year in which he has followed Leclerc well, being superior in some races and qualies. Even after the last DNF he is only 7 points behind Leclerc. I would put him below Leclerc but with a similar ranking to Russell (for instance the gap between Hamilton and Russell this year has been quite bigger than the one between Leclerc and Sainz) 2) Valteri Bottas: Given that he's driving a tractor with no pace and no reliability, not to mention terrible starts and bad pit stops, probably the worst car on the grid (alongside Haas), I think he is invisible but solid, scoring points in two races and placing P11 twice and P12 three times. Some h2h results against highly rated/hyped drivers in this ranking. Quali - Bottas 8-4 Zhou ; Bottas 6-6 Albon ; Bottas 7-5 Tsunoda Race - Bottas 8-4 Zhou ; Bottas 6-6 Albon ; Bottas 6-6 Tsunoda I would place him next to Hulkenberg, just below the Alpines. 3) Alex Albon: I'm going to be a little unpopular here. I think Williams this year is "only" the 4th worst car on the grid, with good potential for certain circuits, and remember that the benchmark here is Logan Sargeant, a rookie driver with 1 year of experience in F2. Don't get me wrong, Albon is a good driver and he is having a very good season proving that he deserves another chance in a competitive car, but I think you are putting some steroids on him. I would put him above Tsunoda, but more equivalent with Piastri (who I think should be ranked a little higher) 4) Daniel Riccardo: I think he should not be in this ranking yet, with only one interesting sprint race and a P13 and P16 ending.
