This Sainz win is such a feel good F1 moment. I felt the same when Gasly won in Monza.

I don't understand how Tommy could only give Oscar a 7 then give Pierre an 8

I’m absolutely shook at some of the ratings. Sometimes you take into account qually, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes you give a 5 for someone who didn’t even finish 1 lap but someone who did 61/62 gets a 1. I know it means nothing but Tommy was all over the place today. Usually I agree with the ratings. Madness. 😂😂😂

Piastri's race was one of those where he did extremely well, but did it so quietly that no one noticed. Including Tommy. Quali, he put up a good first lap; P7 at the time. Yes, the second lap was mediocre, but Stroll meant he didn't get a third lap. And in-race he did everything he could to gain positions without ruining the strategy that gained him 9 positions. I don't think one mediocre lap and being unable to pass Gasly at Singapore without ruining his tires deserves a drop from 10 to 7. And Carlos, tbh, race of the year. It's one thing for a Red Bull to break free and take off. It's another to win in the third fastest car by packing up the whole field, then bolting with Norris at the pitstop, only to use him as a shield on the last 4 laps. Managing the people behind you while managing your tires while running around Singapore while managing your team...absolutely the most deserved win of the year.

Not a Max fan but I think it was his best drive of the season. That RB wasn’t good, no front end, and somehow managed P5 after two horrible safety car timing shots? Amazing. With him and Lewis clearly the two fastest cars at the end you can understand the difference between championship drivers and the pack.

That 1 for Russell may be the harshest rating I've ever seen... P2 in quali and on for a podium for 99% of the race, no way you can say that's worse than the entire rest of the grid even with the shunt

The fact Tom gave Russell a 1, and Perez a 5 is just outrageous.

Esteban and Pierre getting 9 & 8, and Oscar getting a 7 is mental… Verstappen got an 8 too?! Madness.

Suggestion for Matt's golden 10/10 system: At the end of the season, Matt and Tommy get 1 'gold buzzer' each, so that they can award to the best drive of the year. It can be worth 1 or 2 extra points or whatever arbitrary score you might suggest. It's not much, especially if you guys were not planning to tally up the points and calculate an average score. But I think a drive like Sainz's deserve a recognition in some other form than just a regular 10/10.

I really don’t understand a 7 for oscar. I’m not sure what you could’ve expected from him, after having to abort his lap due to the crash in Q1. Can’t qualify well if you weren’t given the opportunity to qualify. Also to still make up 10 positions in the race is nothing short of spectacular and fully deserved at least an 8/10

Charles asked to pit during the VSC and he was turned down straight away, otherwise he would've been in the final battle

Leclerc was nursing a cooling issue since like before the VSC. He really couldn't do more. He wanted to pit during VSC, but the team read the telemetry and knew the car would break way before the end. I really wouldn't hold this race against Charles. Imagine the scenes if he got pole and his car broke down 4 turns before the end.

One thing y’all have forgotten is Mercedes were the only one that had saved a medium through practice and GR spoke about it during his interview after qualifying

Are your expectations just so high for Oscar that if he doesn't beat lando in a car without upgrades it's just not good enough? I'm not sure what more he could have done to be honest.

I’m starting to think these guys don’t actually watch the race. Bottas got screwed over by the SC just like with Max and Checo. But ofc, they don’t care about all that.

I'm not understanding the hype around Lawson finishing 9 when you have Russell/Ocon DNFs, Stroll DNS, and Alonso stinking it in last place after mistakes. Even if you assume he beats Yuki, that would be a P13 under normal circumstances, which is about where the car ought to be. Good on him for taking the car safely to the checkered flag and being in a position to capitalize on the mistakes of others, but I don't view finishing ahead of Williams, Haas, and Alfa as indicators of mega pace.

Alonso had damage to the car from the start of the race. The pit entry error was because the car couldn't turn.

PIASTRI DESERVED AT LEAST AN 8, IF NOT HIGHER TOMMY. MATT’S RATING WAS PERFECT

I actually think it's one of the best drives of the season of Verstappen. Overtaking 2 cars while on the hard tyre. Then after getting the medium, overtaking 6 cars in just 14 laps. He did everything with ease that Russell couldn't do in many rounds.

Going from 11th to 2nd and then 15th to 5th, Max must have set an F1 record on that track for most passes by a driver in a single race. Don't get points for that, but did get 10 points out of the race and another story to add the legend.

1 for Russel is WILD. He did one mistake, one. And it was a normal one to do, following the car you're trying desperately to catch. To beat Hamilton, almost hit pole, run a flawless race and strategy and hit the wall as the car ahead of you only to get a 1 is crazy, even 4 is imo. You'd think he was running on a redbull, missed q2 and crashed when he had a chance at a result or something.. Oh wait, that was Perez before and I don't even know if he got a 1 then lmao.

Leclerc actually cost George and Lewis 2 seconds, which given their pace differnce meant they had one less lap to overtake Carlando.

Liam is the reason we got a new race winner this season, and then topped the weekend off with points. Get that man a seat on the grid

Interesting how you rate Alonso so low when he did most of the race with damage to his front left suspension, likely from Tsunoda debris. He had to steer slightly right on the straights to keep the car going directly forwards (Which even the commentary on sky noticed) Is such damage taken into account in the grading? Because right now I'd say he's deserves better for even finishing instead of having the car retired.

when they talked about fernando i disagree, they didnt even see the twitters, they just rate by feelings by only watchin the race. Well if you had seen the aston twitter youwould know that fernando had a broken suspension since lap 2 and the pitstop of 30secs was a team error, I would have given him a 5 out of 10, cause his qualy was also decent

I'm not even a George Russell fan, but a ONE out of ten!? Steady on! Amazing in qualifying and blistering in the race right until the (untimely) end. Matt's 4/10 is far more reasonable

charles was having power unit issue that's why he couldn't offer defence to mercedes and finished 19sec behind

Albon goes from 14 to 11th, gets an 8 from Tommy, Oscar goes from 17th to 7th and gets only 7 points

Harsh on Oscar Tommy! in a non upgraded car lacking downforce, on a track hard to pass, He made 10 positions by being patient and driving it like its a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Worthy of a 9 minimum.

Holy, Tommy's been smoking something strong this weekend. 1/10 weekend for Russel which is insanely harsh, 7/10 for Piastri which is also completely deluded. And then gives Perez a 5/10 for messing up qualifying, killing 2 other drivers in the race and then still finished 30 seconds behind Verstappen. Sort it out for next week as that was hard to listen to. Opinions are opinions but let's not base them on 5% of the facts.

Alonso sustained damage to the suspensions on the second lap. That caused the car to have even less pace than it had this weekend, and also caused the pit lane error (which, btw, a 5 second penalty for that is an absolute joke. Checo had the same penalty after ending Albon's and Tsunoda's races)

Lando a 10 when he made effectively 2 spots with a fully upgraded spec car and a friendly tow from Sainz - Piastri a 7 when his qualifying was wrecked due to Stroll, no upgrades on car and made 10 spots?!! 🤔You’re having a freaking laugh Bellingham. Not denying Lando had a great race but surely Piastri had just as good if not better based on above.

Another miss is the fact that Charles also had an overheating issue with the engine the last 1/4 of the race, and they didn't have a fresh set of mediums to put him on anyway. Both of these have been overlooked. Most everything that happened to Charles on Sunday was not of his doing...hes just always the fall guy.

Aston Martin confirms that Alonso had damage on his left suspension cover since lap 2. According to AMUS, Alonso's damage to the car has cost him downforce and drag has increased. Just to mention it if u didnt know about it

Matt's rating were pretty on point overall, but Tommy was all over the shop.

Perez ruins 2 other drivers' races, and finishes 30 seconds behind his team mate AND did a crap quali, and you give HIM a 5, and Russell a 1?!?!?

Oscar only getting 7, then Gorge getting 1 is ridiculous. And Max getting an 8 shows you really forgot qualifying. Max could have easily got into Q3 if he didn't made that mistake himself. Even if the car was not that good on qualifying still they got knocked out by an alphatauri. And Perez also deserves to have even lower rating than that.

Alonso drove with damage the entire race just around the suspension area on the left front. I'm pretty sure that's the reason he just couldn't turn in the pit lane, so it wasn't entirely his fault.

1/10 for Russell ? Started at the Front Row,was probably the fastest out of them all and almost could get a win and the only mistake was him crashing in the end. 5/10 for Perez? He ruined the race for Tsunoda and Albon AND was struggling to even get to top 10 in the beginning while Verstappen was in the points almost from the start.What is Tommy smoking ?

Am I the only one who sees Lawson's drive as just a good race, a 7/10 not a 10/10? He survived this race after an excellent qualifying and I still think he should get the seat over Daniel BUT, Alphas Updates seem to have worked pretty well, at least in Singapore. He had a bad start, lost 2 position and would have lost 4 if Perez hadn't crashed Yuki. He rode the Perez DRS train as long as he could and even lost connection to that. He benefitted from every DNF, other than Bottas, and Alonso's bad stop and Perez shunting Albon that's 5 positions for free. And he didn't defend against any Overtakes. I don't know, maybe I'm too harsh.

I could not agree more with the 9 of ten for Estaban Ocon. What an amazing drive. I felt more for him then George to be honest.

Lawson seems to be the real deal. Just another prime example of F1 not having enough seats for all the TRULY talented drivers trying to make their way into the sport.

Fernando had a problem with his chassis on the second lap. He managed to drive to the end.

Clearly Max deserved more than an 8. Yet again a perfect race,after a disaster setup he had on Saturday, and with only ever so slighly more favourable circumstances could have won the race.

Alonso had damage on his car since lap 2, there was a piece of the car that was stuck in the front suspension on the left. That altered the balance of his car which is probably why had a few mistakes and couldn't pass Perez for such a long time. It was a race to forget..

10 for Lando are you joking he got handed a place by fia from Hamilton and got helped by Sainz in the end, he would have finished 4th with his pace

I was gonna give Max and 8 but you talked me into a 9.

Man, if that VSC came one lap earlier and Max won, I would have absolutely lost it. It would have been the best ever performance. Also, if George hadn't crashed at the end, Max most likely would have overtaken Charles. But now they had to slow down in sector 2 of the last lap. Max was only a few tenths behind at the end of sector 1.

1/10 for George is cruel. He got a front row start. Was incredible all race apart from one touch on the wall which sadly ended his race. That’s really harsh. Especially considering trash like Perez and Logan got higher and they were embarrassing from FP1 to the end of the race.

ALO had aero damage holding him back, 2-3 seems harsh.

I would give Max a 9, he was very unlucky with the safety and virtual safety car, but at the end he was on Charles's tail who had started in third. Max did 8 of the total 42 overtakes during the race.

There sure was a scenario where Max fought for that win. A later SC, after the leaders had stopped, would have been...tasty. Good luck overtaking Max when everyone smells blood in their DRS trains.

It's obviously a question as to whether the other drivers would've gotten a pit stop gap on Max without the safety car, but it was a great drive from max to almost get P4 despite everything going wrong with the car and 2 bad SCs

This episode grades feels like they are way off for most drivers, in my opinion a lot of things were missed and even more "biased" than usual... Weird episode

ALONSO HAD FRONT SUSPENSION DAMAGE !! asgon confirmed damage that increased their drag and slowed them down. Apparently it happened on lap 2 under braking something broke and that's why he was failling behind and couldn't turn the car well.

Don't really think Max performed any worse than any other weekend. It was the car that performed worse. Not sure how this weekend is 8 where a super boring weekend with literally nothing unusual and Max normally winning is a 10... lol

I thought Georges rating was a little too harsh, giving the fact he gave it a go. The Mercedes duo made that race more exciting in my opinion, which gave Sainz and Norris a headache in the latter stages. George, despite his crash had one of his better weekends. Would of rating him a 7, to be fair. If a Championship was to play for, than I would of played it safe and kept the points. It was a gamble that did not pay off. Both your scores were too low IMHO.

Albon almost got back into the points in a Williams that was just terrible around singapore, 10/10 in my mind Also you litterally said max got everything out of the car and was one the worst strategy, still got p5. If he was any other driver he would have gotten an 11/10. Just because his car is usually the best doesn't mean he deserves a lower grade when it isn't... Or do you disagree? Could either of them have done any better?

Heart bleeds for Yuki. He looked fast. The fact that both red bulls... Max in Q2 and Perez in the race totally effected his results and neither of them got a penalty? We have seen far less offenses occurred this year where penalties were applied... dunno something weird going on there.

A 1 and a 4 for George, who was HEROIC in quali, drove a great 62 laps of the race with a valiant (albeit possibly slightly overdriven to the detriment of his tyres) charge on Norris and Sainz, and crashed out on a minor mistake on a tricky track whilst TRYING TO WIN is just... Why the George hate? There's a lot of it around and long has been, and I don't know where it's come from. I don't know why. I've never really respected your opinions and I watch these cos you guys are funny not cos I think you're right, but I DO NOT understand the George hate that is seemingly so widespread in the F1 fanbase.

Fun facts: Lawson had been the only one to overtake Verstappen this season (unlapping himself), he knocked him out of Q3 and Lawson was the only one who defended against Verstappen, ultimately costing Max P4 by 0,2 sec.

1/10 for Russell is absolutely criminal lmao I’d get it if you gave a 1/10 for every driver who crashed out by themselves but come on

George Russell was a 10, regardless of the crash. He was ready to risk it for the win. He was the fastest out there.

How did Tommy give Gasly an 8 out of 10 for going from 12th to sixth but Piastri gets and 7 for going from 17th to 7th in his first Singapore GP?

Sainz was great, but George was stellar too. P2 with the mercedes on saturday, absolutely crushing Lewis (4 tenths). Drove a great race and would have scored a 10 without the crash. He deserves at least a 7 in my opinion. And Max had a good race also but was very unlucky.
