Another COUNTRY! Our first impression is wow, Bosnia & Herzegovina is a stunning scenic country with a colorful history of heroism and tragedy. But of course, we live in a van and so we have to the usual tasks of entering a new country of finding money in the new currency and getting a cellular sim card before we can explore one of Bosnia's most beautiful national parks where we learn the historical importance of majestic space. This comes from my heart. As a product of a father who fought in WW11 studying in school gave me no concept of the magnitude of its scope. I was so moved by this video and the visit to the war monument. My mother's grandmother and others perished by the hands of the Germans. Thank you for the most informative, most moving, and most beautiful lesson of the past. I cried the entire day thinking about this video.

Snow, what an amazing story to begin with in Bosnia! The bravery of the Bosnian soldiers in defeating the Germans speaks volumes about the human spirit! @carolynwilson5662 Just some correction about the Battle of Sutjeska! They were not Bosnians! They were The Yugoslav Partizans who mostly were Serbs and Croatians and Montenegrins and some from Bosnia. There is a movie that was made about the event which was a Yugoslav production and very dramatic and sad that shows the evils of wars.

I dug into the memorial and found this: “Sculptor Miodrag Živković designed the memorial complex, dedicating to the Battle of the Sutjeska in the 1970s.[22] The complex contains frescoes by the Croatian artist Krsto Hegedušić.[23]”

The soldiers and the locals endured the Battle of the Sutjeska from May 15 through June 16, 1943. Snow probably said, but I didn't grasp that Sutjeska is the name of the river. So much pain and suffering and abject sadness. The memorial is perfect.

When the pandemic began and Europe started locking down, I was in the middle of a solo overlanding trip with my 2 dogs and was at the end of my visa time in Croatia. I didn’t have enough time in my 90/180 to go back to the Schengen zone so I decided to go to BiH where I had 90 day visa free. I ended up staying nearly that entire 3 months in Buna, just outside Mostar. I rented a house and couldn’t be more thankful to my hosts who looked after me and my dogs, provided us a safe place in a scary time and were so so so kind.

You guys this was epic. I remember hearing about Bosnia and Herzegovena on the news but had no concept about what the beauty of the land and it's ppl were about. Beautiful country! That monument to that battle that took 16,000 lives just goes to show how much love, commitment, and sacrifice those brave souls, felt about their country. They put that into action. Sooo brave. Greatful, for our soldiers everywhere that put that ultimate sacrifice on the line. I can't say enough about how greatful I am. My Father was a WWII vet. Purple Heart decorated. Very proud and honored you guys.❤ Sooo many kitties you guys! Lol. I would have a hard time not trying to take in everyone that I felt needed some love. ❤ Thank you for sharing your travels with us. That memorial was absolutely breathtaking and I would be so moved to stand near it too Snow! I am speechless at your spectacular introduction to Bosnia, so green and those tunnels carved out of the mountains with good roads! We used Airalo when we went to Spain, e sims are very convenient if you fly because you connect automatically when you land. The monument is absolutely incredible. The wings. the faces, and the juxtaposition in the midst of the valleys and the mountain peaks...very emotional. I believe the sculptor was Milorad Živković . Incredible.

Snow and Curt...I love traveling along with you. I lived in Germany while my father was stationed there. We traveled around but never got to some of the countries you have visited due to being there during the 60's. The USSR was not letting Americans across the borders. Driving in Europe is a challenge. The twists in the mountains and the roads are not very wide... a lot of blind spots. Happy trails to you both.

Wow, those stairs are something. The two big rocks I guess you call that you went in between reminded me of the movie “ Never Ending Story” where the kid has to try to walk through the two mountains before they zap him to death, have you ever seen that?
