This looked like The Brittany and Paul Jug Digging Show! You and your family are truly blessed! May He continue to shower His blessings on you, Shelly, Paul, Brittany and all the children! A beautiful family!❤❤
HOLY MOLY!! What a haul from both holes. I'm sure you all had a great time. I'm glad that you put this long video out. Been bummed over the (so called) election and this was great to watch before bed tonight. All of you stay safe and have a great week. Thank you
Hi Danny....thanks for coming along with us buddy! I know what you mean about the election....I think most of us are still pretty bummed out about it. I've got to just stay busy and keep my mind on other things...so it helps that I can go digging. Hope you have a good spot to dig too?
@@diggerdaveshovelinshelleyb8057 I'm on the hunt for another one. The land got purchased and developed over the summer where my best local place to dig was. Fort Smith, AR. (where I live) had a population of 15,000 in the 1880s then it began to grow rapidly. Most dumps have been built over but im sure enough time out in the woods will reveal another good spot
Awww, such a precious family! Beautiful babies and beautiful little girls! Awesomeness overload!!! Wonderful bottles and jugs, I enjoyed this video so much!😁💖
Another killer dump dig. I absolutely love the videos for the entertainment value. But what I love even more is the educational aspects of them. Dave freely shares his knowledge with all of us. It's like a master class on mid western bottles. I love it. Here's hoping everyone of you are safe and continued success.👍👊
Hey Sonny....thanks so much for your support and nice comments. I always try to share what information I may have still lurking in the recesses of my mind...but often forget important tidbits of information. I'm not the best video maker but just go with the flow....we hope your family and you stay safe....God bless you!
Hi Christina....we thank you so much! Yea I cant believe all the intact jugs coming out of that dump....but yet almost no marbles, toothbrushes, and other things that really should be there. Those grandkids are so precious...we just give God the thanks for them!...we all love ya right back!
Oh thank you so much for your kindness and for watching. We are so thrilled to have such sweet grandkids....we pray the Lord keeps them safe and healthy. God bless you
Wow!!! That was an awesome dig from you all!! The babies are adorable, as are Bunny & Lilly!! Paul finally got a boy!! 💙 The video didn’t even feel as long as it was because it’s just so full of finds!! Take care & keep safe! 🇦🇺🌻💕👍🙂
Those babies are the beautiful babies. You all will have to buy some baby shovels. Those babies are going to become natural born diggers. ❤ they are precious
Howdy Lee...yes, that is a good idea about getting little shovels for those grandkids. Brittany and Paul have it made....a ready crew of bottle diggers! We all thank you for watching and for your sweet comments....God bless you!
Hey John...thanks so much for your continued support...you are awesome! We just have fun, even when we dont always find anything great. God is so good isnt He! We pray for the Lord's blessings upon your family and you too....see ya in the next video!
Wow what a spectacular dig, so so many jar and bottles. I can't believe how many different type of jugs y'all are digging up. The little personalized jug is beautiful, I think it was a child who made it to give to their mother. I think a boy may have made it because of the creature that was made. I love the long videos Dave because you know they're going to be good. The 4 of you hit it out of the park. How expensive would it be to ship a jug? Dave and family may you continue to be blessed. And much success to your digging. Y'all take care and be safe. Brittany and Paul your twins are beautiful.
Hi Debra....we are always so thankful for you! We cant believe how many different jugs are coming out also. It doesnt cost too much to send a smaller jug...let us know what kind you are looking for and we'll sure make you the best deal we can Debra. That folk art "scratch jug" that Paul and Brittany dug is a strange one for sure. It took a master potter to throw it by hand...but the decoration does look more like a kid did it...haha. My guess it was made a young apprentice at a local Illinois pottery to give as a Christmas or birthday gift for a loved one? Thanks so much for watching and for being so kind to our family....we all love you and pray for God's finest blessings for your family and you Debra!
I am thrilled to finally see the babies!! They are beautiful!! Such a wonderful family! I just love your videos so many treasures. Excellent thanks 😊 stay safe and be happy! 😷🥰
Hi Kim...yea sorry it took us so long to get the babies in a video. We sure appreciate you watching and for your kind words. Paul and Brittany are doing well with all 4 kids....they have their hands full though...haha.
WOW !!!!!! You guys have definitely been blessed .... Two Beautiful twins... congrats to Paul and Britney and the most AWESOME DUMP I have ever seen dug..... we would love to have a spot like that down here.... God bless and take care... See ya on the next
This may sound Crazy to people , Everytime I watch Your videos I feel closer to the Lord Jesus Christ... hope I’m not Offended anyone ... Love hearing the trash , Music to my ears 👍 never seen a embossed coffee mug , how cool is that ! Not Boring to me ... ❤️ it ... always great to Paul n Brit they are killing it ... love the way Brit just gets in there lol Paul Who 😂😂😂 Awesome Bitters ... UNBELIEVABLE Never seen anything like that DIG , Congratulations on a great dig !!!! Brother in Christ, Jim Shanko 🙏 GREAT LOOKING FAMILY Paul n Brit Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Love the Trump Sign!!!!
Please be careful when digging. A teacher at the Grammar school, died when the ash walls collapsed. We think he wrote a book on bottle digging back here in the U.K. Great to watch your work.
Howdy Bryan...always so thankful for YOU brother! You've been such a big blessing to my family and me....Paul and Brittany send their thanks also. We appreciate you watching
Score! Man so many bottles. That’s crazy. Honestly, your not boring because the information is so interesting. Ya can’t have a video that’s to long, haha. Dave that gallon brown jug arrived safe and sound and I just love it! You cleaned it up extremely nice. It’s beautiful. Ok , God bless you guys and can’t wait for the next trip! Tom.
Hey Dave and Shelly! The piece you found Dave that had the two Jaspenese on it, is definitely a keeper! I bet someone would even spend $5.00 on it. Old china like that, especially because it is a complete scene, is used by crafters for mosaics. We had an eye cup growing up! It was such a simple little thing but it worked great! I remember whenever I would get an eyelash or dirt in my eye, (I was a real tomboy and loved playing in the dirt), That little cup always worked to remove whatever was in my eye. I wonder if they still make them? It is always cool when you show us a bottle with part of a label still on it. For more than 100 years that sat underground. Amazing to think about. I just love the graphics they used back then. Thank you for sharing this hunt with us, very exciting to watch!
Thank you so much for your nice comments. We always appreciate that. Yea, I need to get together a little group of those broken interesting pieces and see if anyone may be interested in them. we just get busy and dont get around to a lot of things, sad to say. You are sure right about those old glass eye cups...I've got several around here and use a couple of them myself. I imagine they still sell them. I know I've always got a couple antique ones for sale....and we see them at every antique mall we go to. Those labels still visible on bottles and jars after being buried for over 100 years always fascinate me too! We are going to try spraying something on them to try to preserve them if possible. See ya in the next video...
You have a beautiful family! The twins are adorable! Paul is such an amazing father and Brittany is a lucky girl! I really enjoyed this video. I loved the length of the video and we finally got to see your grandkids!! Your exstensive, bottle knowledge is impressive! Maybe now you have an indication of where to dig for the older bottles?
Uhmm, since I first started watching your channel, I keep hearing you wanting to find a old marked Jack Daniels Bottle. Is Paul going to give it to you if he finds it? I sure hope so, and also if you don't have an example of one of the bottles they dig will they give it to you so you can complete your collection? As they have the best side of the dump I sure hope so. Oh also, are you going to show us your whole bottle collection one day? Because I know it has to be MAGNIFICENT! I love you and Shelly's kind giving heart. I honestly believe if Paul or Brittany do find that JD bottle they are going to wrap it up and give it to you for a Christmas present! Blessings to you, Shelly, Paul and Brittany and their children. Oh the song melody I wrote for you goes to the tune of working on the old railroad!
Hi Debbie...yep, Paul MUST give me the first embossed Jack Daniel bottle he digs...(just kidding)..haha. He has sure earned it when he finds one. I actually have a nice one in my collection so I'm happy. We will try to show some our bottles once the weather turns nasty and we cant dig as much...I'm not wanting to come across like I'm "showing off" if I show some of my collection in future videos, so I hope nobody will take it that way? We hope to make it more of an educational or instructional video than showing a big collection of bitters, or inks or whatever. Thanks for asking....we shall do our best to see what we can stir up
@@diggerdaveshovelinshelleyb8057 to see even a small part of your collection would be a huge honor to us all ....of course we will he maybe a lil jealous lol 😆...uou gave earned every bottle so no worries. Thank you for even considering it
@@diggerdaveshovelinshelleyb8057 You could round a few up at a time for an educational theme and roll out some videos this Winter. Anyway the wrap ups are always soothing and educational.
I wrote my message before I read Debbie Mitchells post. There is no way you could ever come off as bragging if you show your collection. You and your family seem to be very loving and humble people. Thanks again.
We want to thank YOU for watching and for taking the time to post a nice comment. We hope it wasnt too long of a video....it was not our intention to make it that long. Our next one should not be as long....stay tuned
I still will never realize why I enjoy someone digging in an old bottle dump so much, but I love this. Probably goes back to my archeology side, but it's just not normal stuff we try to dig up lol. Keep up the good videos!
Thanks so much for watching. I know just what you mean my friend....sometimes I ponder why it has such a hold on me and is so thrilling to dig up 100 yr old trash....but it just excites me! haha. It truly is not about the value, (although I admit it also thrilling to make a living digging old bottles). Its just the everyday ordinary stuff that people threw away that is so fascinating....thanks so much for your kind words
We poured concrete along the foundation of our house and before it dried I stuck bottoms of 1/2gal canning jars in the concrete that I had dug- turned out neat. You could do the same with the broken bottle fronts.
Hi Linda...wow, that's a really cool idea! We may have to save some broken bottles and jars and try doing something like that too. Thanks so much for watching...see ya in the next video!
Haha I'm watching the video and a song popped in my head, " I've been working on my jug dump, all the live long day, I've been digging in the jug dump, because it belongs to me, I can hear all the jugs a blowing, we need to rise up early in the morning, my dreaming is finally happening, Shelly grab the shovels. Its now my turn, its Shelly's turn, Dave and Shelly found a Jug. Oh its now my turn then Shelly's turn, we each have found a jug! Oh, someone's been digging in my hole, someone's been digging in yours Oh, someone's been digging in Paul's hole, someone's been digging in ours. OOPS, its all our families! Dave singing "fee fi fiddle eell o, "fee fi fiddle eell o, "fee fi fiddle eell o we are digging in the old jug dump. haha okay back to the video
Hey Debbie...that's awesome! What a great song that is...haha. You may just hear us singing it in the next video...haha. Thanks so much for sharing that with us
Thanks so much for watching. You will have to come along sometime and dig yourself up a nice jug. We will be listing some for sale in our ebay store, but the postage is terrible on big heavy items like that. LOOKWHATIDUG is Paul's store name....mine is DIGGER DAVE'S BOTTLES & TREASURES. You can email us directly at digrdaveb@aol.com
Thank you so much for the information. I will look up both your stores and see what I can do. I would love to go digging up an old dump with you. Here in Idaho we don't have many dumps that date back that far. I am trying to research an old ghost town named "Rocky Bar" in order to find the dump. Its a town that sprung up do to a gold rush in the area. I actually go a few miles above the town and dig large smokey quartz Crystal's. They are difficult to find and require a lot of work but worth every bit of effort. I do enjoy going along with you on your adventures. Even if it through the lens of a camera. Keep digging and doing what you do. Above all else, stay safe.
Nowadays you hear the expression elite used so much but for me Dave is certainly worthy of the adjective in the manner it used to be used. I am from the U.K. And started digging in the mid 70's and although I cannot digger now you videos are so brilliant. I always dreamed of my own dump to dig properly but unfortunately it never happened. All the best wishes to all the family.Ben Davis.
That metal thing you said that it looked like a starship, is the wheel part of a benchtop, hand crank sharpening wheel. They would clamp to a benchtop and there was a handle you would turn to get the wheel moving and with the other hand, you could sharpen knives and tools with it. I have several in my tool collection.
We sure appreciate you watching and for taking time to comment. It was a fun day, but the bottle bug has bit me hard, so I cant wait to get back for the next dig...haha. Stay tuned.....thanks again for watching
Oh no..I'm sure sorry. I didnt even see it. Maybe we'll have to check through our backdirt pile and find some more of it. Thanks for letting us know...
Awww...thanks so much for your kind words. We are so thankful and just pray for others to be blessed. Life is so full of struggles and bummers that we often all need a little encouragement and cheer. Just think....if we all can do our best to spread some joy and make our corner of the world a little brighter place, then it will spread to others around us. God is truly SO good....as we depend upon Him it just lightens the load dont it?
Ahoy there Hanneke....I love blue willow also. I've got some early pre-1850 pieces that are my favorite. That stuff goes WAY back! Thanks for watching and for catching that little piece of blue willow...haha
Be nice to hear a reply back from you guys I don't know if you're still alive or what but then I love your show thanks very much for all the relaxing time I get to watch you guys
A friend of mine has no idea about value when it comes to bottles, pottery etc etc. He seen my collection and brought me some jars and stuff he found in the 1970s as a teenager. He is from the Morgantown, WV area. He told me a story about being in the woods somewhere and came across some bottles and jars. He got to digging and figured out he must have been digging through an old dumpsite. He kept a Jumbo Peanut Butter jar and a few others. Those he gave me. I asked him about the other stuff he dug up in that spot. He said he sat these old bottles and stuff up and shot them up. I just CRINGED when he told me that. About 2011, he bought a farm that sat way back in the mountains of West Virginia. Thirty miles from the nearest town. Let me tell you, it was out in the boonies. Cant even get cellphone reception.. Anyway, there was 2 houses on the property. One a new cabin type and the other a very old house that has been sittinger for many years. As I looked through the old house, it was still furnished. It was apparent the furniture were mostly from the 1940s era or earlier. This house had water well hand-pump inside the kitchen. He wanted to clear the house out and tear it down. I told him I would take everthing out of that house for myself. As I am cleaning it out, I hear some jingle, jingle clack clack sounds. I turned around and asked what he was doing. He had gathered up all the pottery and stuff and put them in a box.... he was going to throw them away. I said NO! There were some real early 1920s era McCoy pottery and such he had gathered. My wife loves collecting McCoy pottery. There were some stoneware jugs and thing like that.. I took the stuff home. I showed him that one of them was a McCoy planter from 1920 and was worth close to $300. He just was like, "Oh whatever". I guess some people just dont see it or just do not appreciate these things. One item I did not get out of that house was a 1911 piano. (I do not even remember that make of it now since it has been so long ago)It was huge and heavy. I wished I was able to get that. I found out later that it was worth $10,000......... Yeah.....
Carlinville?...no way! We live in Hillsboro so are practically neighbors! We come through Carlinville once in awhile. Thanks so much for watching. Do you also dig or collect old bottles?
@@diggerdaveshovelinshelleyb8057 No, I just came across your videos and started watching !! Really cool, and a lot different than most youtube shows. I live in Chesterfield, a little town about 13 miles west of Carlinville. I was born and raised in Carlinville though. You all seem like really nice people, Hope you score big and make gobs of money !!
So glad you do the vids, i love to watch and you share with us all , rightly is it called the Jug dump . its nice its never been burned, probly because no one wanted the smoke back then , wich would have been acrid to breath. and you are all so considerate to each other God bless
Thanks for letting us know about the Macomb jars....I didnt realize that! That is so cool to know! Now I've got to go see if I can find a couple of them and try that...haha
You have a beautiful family, Shelly looks so happy there, I happen to be a twin also and it's pretty crazy! We had our own language and we would trade additudes, she would be the quite one, then I was loud and roudy one, then I was the quite one and she would be the loud roudy one! We look more alike when we where babies and no one but my mom could tell us apart even though I had brown hair and she had blonde! Yes this is my second or third time watching this video, my heart goes out to the both of you for the passing of your son. I just couldn't imagine how awful it feels, but look at all those beautiful grand kids, they will be what helps you through this hard time. I lost my cousin to drugs, my 60 year old brother to alcohol and my mother in law to covid and my hamster, due to old age. I really feel like I am going to loose someone else that i love and it scares me to death. I really enjoy watching you dig for bottles it helps me to not think of everything that has happened this passed year. Thank you for these long videos, they are awesome! I will always watch till the end.
I really enjoy your videos. I have a few digger friends here in Savannah that you may know? I find the a lot the same stuff you find from an old turn of the century train dump. I could use your knowledge to ID some of the bottles that I dig on my channel. I have a hard time getting info on bottles just from Google. A lot of the diggers around here don't mess with bottles younger than 1880s. The John Ryans are the big thing around here.
Hi Angela...we also love the Virginia Dare name. She was a valiant early pioneer woman with a very interesting story. Have you read about it? Thanks for watching
@@diggerdaveshovelinshelleyb8057 I haven’t read about her. But I know my cousin named her daughter after her (Virginia is actually my 2nd cousin). I bet she was an interesting character! Lol
Oh man you are so right! They scored to the max...and I couldnt get them to leave at the end of the day....haha. They just got into a little "honey hole" there, so I'm happy for them....thanks for watching. May the Lord bless you!
...probably TOO long, but I didnt want to split it up any more than two videos for just a single day of digging. Thanks for your patience and for still hanging with us.
Hi Victoria....we are always glad you watch our videos and make nice comments. The yellow liquid in bottles is often urine that someone deposited therein (and sealed with a cork) that didnt want to make the trip to the outhouse privy..haha. Needless to say, 110 yr old urine is not one of the more pleasant things to get on you, or to even smell after dumping out...I speak from years of experience on such delicate matters...haha
Hi Dave! I just now purchased 2 items from you on Ebay. The beautiful smaller purple Catholic crucifix and the yellow drip Buckeye Pottery jug. I was wondering about the porcelain "wool soap" advertisement sign at 1:55 . I know it is beat up a bit but I think it is still cool and I would be interested in it just for display. If you see my purchase order on the jug and crucfix, send me a message with that about the soap sign. Thanks!
First congratulations on the twins.Do you guys know about the website( newspapers.com)It's a great resource for finding family history.I think y'all could use it for finding old dumps and landfills.Once you find the city you want to look in you can put in key words like dump and it brings up all the papers with the word highlighted.I love seeing old stuff I mean the bottles not you Dave .Just kidding.Do you have a video of your collection you talk about it and I would love to see it.Thank you for your videos they are fun and relaxing.
Don't mean to be a party pooper but, have you ever ran into anything that was toxic? I mean they EPA laws had to be very much nonexistent turn of the century? Love watching your videos, I am learning a lot about bottles from you thank you.
The reason Paul is finding so much small stuff is because Brittany sifts through everything carefully. You and Paul seem to be entirely focused on bottles and tend to ignore everything else. I watch as interesting things get covered up and thrown away. Let Shelly dig more often or go through your refuse piles and I'll bet you find a lot more lids--(like the zinc one I saw Paul shovel away)--and marbles, etc. You have the property now--you have the rest of your lives to dig through it. Go a little slower and really look.
We thank you for watching. Paul's ebay store is called LOOKWHATIDUG....Shelley and me have an ebay store called DIGGER DAVE'S BOTTLES & TREASURES. I think we have a link somewhere on here, but I'm not sure how to find it myself? I will see what we can do to make it easier to find. Thanks for asking
