Hi Sophie, I have to say I have 6 years, nearly 7 between my two. We lost 2 babies on our journey to have our 2nd. I really beat myself up during that time that the age gap was getting bigger and bigger. I hated that I’d left it so long. However. My oldest is now in year 6 and my son is the same age as Barney so will be starting school next year. Had I had the baby that I first miscarried they’d be at school now. I have to say now that I appreciate the age gap. My daughter is a great help but also whilst she’s reaching those milestones and growing up my son is a great distraction at how sad as parent we can also feel about these things. Whilst she’s off having sleepovers, I get some extra time with my toddler who still thinks I’m the best 😎 like toddlers do. The age gap has been a blessing to me because I’ve got to really enjoy these 2 sets of pre school years (which really are my favourite) and enjoy that parenthood journey a bit longer. People always say school years are the best time of your life, but for me it’s being a parent and having a full nest at home. So just see that by having a longer period between children you get to enjoy those parenting years a bit longer. Hope that brings you some comfort x

There's a 5 year age gap between my children & they get on so well & so close. Sometimes a close gap is harder as they argue, where as bigger gap the older children has a better tolerance, in my opinion & experience anyway x

My sister and I went to see Phantom on a Thursday night in late August and were so disappointed that Dave was off that night. We wanted to see him so bad, but the show was still awesome! (I am from Tennessee and she is from Kentucky). It is great that he gets to pursue his dream and you are awesome for being so supportive. You have lots and lots of people out here cheering you on while you are on your own with Barney and Chip. You can do this, Sophie! I hope Barney loves his preschool so you can have some “me” time. Sophie you’re doing amazing!!It’s soo hard having to look after a child on your own with no help and keep up with a house. You won’t know yourself when he starts play school 💖definitely go for little walks etc on the weekends, you’ll feel so much better for it instead of staying in. It’s lovely how supportive you are of Dave, you’re a very supportive and kind wife, but also don’t forget about your own dreams lovely and getting the support you need x

Well done you're doing amazing, I would wait until Dave finishes the show to start trying, I've just been through the first trimester with a 3 year old & it's not fun you definitely need all the help you can get. I couldn't cook for 2 months from being so sick ❤

Hey Soph! Good to see you for a sit down chat again. I’m currently pregnant with my second, due right as my first turns 3 and starts nursery. I’ve found this pregnancy a lot harder, more sickness and exhaustion, so I’d admit I’d struggle without my husband around, but saying that, with Barney in nursery it could be the rest you need to get through it! I speak for many in that it took us a lot longer to get pregnant this time, so there’s always that to consider. You just have to do what’s right for your family! If Barney does end up quite a bit older, he’ll be an amazing helpful big brother and a little more able to understand what’s happening, so pros and cons! Glad you’re coping okay - I know many many women do it, but I can’t imagine sole parenting most of the time! x

Congratulation Dave! It's hard Soph, as a military career wife I fully understand. My husband is retired now TG. One thing I miss is when my husband was away we talked (phone) for hrs, way more then we ever did in person. I miss that!

Barnie is bloomin adorable. He's such a sweet little boy. If you do move back to London the outskirts of South London are alot cheaper than you think. I live near Croydon and am surrounded by woodland and Countryside. It's actually lovely. Places like selsdon, Warlingham, kenley Coulsdon and Sanderstead are hidden gems and only 30 mins from Victoria. The schools are good and it's close to Bromley and Sutton for shopping (I wouldn't recommend croydon as its not very nice and is a bit run down). The rents average 2k a month but if you look around you can find somewhere lovely for 1700.

I can sympathise with you as my hubby is working away in London during the week currently, however my girls are older than Barney, it’s tough though. We ended up with nearly a 5 year age gap between our girls, however unintentionally, it just happened when it happened & thankfully my eldest was a great help and started in Reception class at that time too. It will all work its way out I’m sure ❤ xx

Two is hard, very hard and i had a horrible pregnancy and still had to look after my 2 year old, i would not have coped without my partners help. Also the jump from 1-2 was very difficult more so than 0-1 and made life sooo difficult. I love my children but i think 1 child is lovely and 2 can push it to difficult. Also first was a quick conception second took over 6 months

Being pregnant with a toddler is no joke! 😅 I work part time and my partner is full time and travels / is away with work the majority of the week. My first pregnancy was horrific, the sickness was terrible, however this pregnancy has been completely different (I was honestly petrified I’d be super poorly again) however I’m now 7months and really struggling. My working days when my girl is at nursery are okay, but my gosh, the days when it’s just us are so hard. I know it will all be a distant blur very shortly and we’re made of strong stuff and get through it but it is hard xx

Hey!! We wanted a small age gap between children. However didn't happen, I was pregnant this June - August. With 4 year old running around and I was so so so sick. It is definitely hard being sick with a child. I had a lot of help thank god. I did lose the baby and its the 2nd one we have now lost. So our plan hadn't gone to plan. So please don't plan too much as it could be a while before you got pregnant. If you definitely want another. We have decided now, we don't want another. So it is just the 3 of us. As its too hard to lose and be sick and that's with the 2 of us here at home. But ultimately its what you think and feel what's right for you and your family. ❤

Honestly I would wait for baby number 2. If you have a rough pregnancy and you're on your own that would be really hard. We had a 2 year age gap between 1 and 2 and then a 4 1/2 year age gap between 2 and 3. The bigger age gap was so much easier. Hope that helps. X
