NICU nurse here to answer the question about why his hands were blue when his body was pink. When babies are born they actually change their entire circulatory system. In the womb babies have a hole in their heart that helps their blood bypass their lungs since they live in a low oxygen (hypoxic) state. Once theyre born that hole starts to close as they start to oxygenate their own blood. So the reason his hands were blue is because he was just starting to oxygenate his own blood and the body automatically shunts the blood to all the vital organs first. Just a fun fact for anyone also wondering! Congratulations on the new addition to the family ❤

Man, isnt that first scream just simply THE ABSOLUTE BEST sound you've ever heard!? My children are 18 and 9 years old now and I can still vividly remember hearing that for the first time. And what a big boy he is! My daughter was 9 lbs 13 oz so she looked like a whole 3 month old laying next to the other babies in the nursery 🤭 Had to add: its so lovely to see the respect and appreciation Louis has for what Raya is doing and going through during these moments! Such an important thing that i think gets overlooked or downplayed quite often. She'll ALWAYS remember that! ❤

Oh, Raya! You did amazing! Becoming a mother is no easy feat, you deserve all the support and recognition from your family. When I became a mom, I had the same thought about being older and treasuring the moments when they're young. Louis, please take care of Raya and continue to check in on her. When my son was about six months old I started to develop symptoms of postpartum anxiety, becoming a mom is scary, having your heart exist outside of your body is scary. I'm wishing your family all the best during this time of welcoming and transition into parenthood. 🧡

Seeing Louis stroking Rayas hair durning the C section to calm and soothe her just made me sob. Such a beautiful love story! I always wanted a love like this and to have a family..it didn’t happen for me this life time. I love your thought at the end when holding Neo. Imagine you're 80 years old and looking back at this time. I'm 59 and my sons are in their 30's, it almost brought tears to my eyes thinking back to when they're were cute little babies. Soak it all in an don't take it for granted, they grow up so fast. My husband always said, don't blink, because if you do they'll be grown.
