I started crying when daddy validated his sons feelings and explained what was happening at nappy change time. Tears of joy. I love intentional parenting.

Raya... my firstborn, a son, is 37 years old. I STILL remember how painful breastfeeding was for me, to this day. I was only able to stand it for a little over two weeks before I switched to bottles. I dreaded every single feed and I felt it was hindering the bonding experience. Once I switched to bottles, it was glorious!!! I am so very proud of you for holding on and looking for help in that area. They didn't have those kinds of things back then for me. I hope it gets easier and easier for you, my dear. And if it doesn't, I hope you never feel guilt for switching. My son grew up VERY healthy and is a fit young man of almost 40. Love watching you guys go thru this experience!!! You will absolutely love watching your son see things for the first time, for as long as that lasts. 🙂

Nursing tip: Use your own milk to moisturize after each feeding and allow to air dry. Huge help!

9 months+ of living inside Mum and now Louis carrying him outside - best ever! I didn't have a partner ( I did have my Mum) but having the DAD participate 100 percent is so lovely!!!! Thank you both for sharing!!

Raya, I promise it gets better. It's your hormones that have kicked in, now you are momma bear. I am so happy that Louis is helping you and has gone into dad mode. Every week Neo will change and things get better. It is quite amazing how fast they grow! His face has already changed!

Raya pump milk! When your out you can feed him in the go, and you can also give your husband a bottle to feed so he can have that bonding. Also shields helped me a lot, doing one feed with a shield was life saver! Overall it does get better and you do get to enjoy that closeness later on it’s amazing hold in there!

Huge truth on the breastfeeding thing. It's actually super normal and typical. I've had 2 kids and it was sooo painful at first with each of them and literally no one warned me at all with my first. Luckily it got tons better over time. So hang in there Raya! ❤

It’s very helpful for new mothers to hear honest experiences from other new mothers. I didn’t have that when I had my children. As a result, I thought I was the only mother in the world feeling anxiety, exhaustion and problems with feeding. Thank you for talking so openly about everything-the difficulties as well as the joy. I had the same breast feeding experience with my first, toe curling pain! I made so much milk that he had trouble latching to my full breast. I learned to only feed on one side at a time to give each side a break. It made a huge difference. Best of luck!

My baby just turned 17 this week, the worries never go away they just change as your baby grows. Soak up every second of the baby years.

Mama of 2 here! I have a 3 year old & 15 month old.. I’ve breastfed my 15 month old for 15 whole months and recently stopped & I understand how hard it is🥺 what helped me increase my freezer supply was feeding on one side then using a HAAKA for the other sides let down. It’s hard mama but you got this♥️

I love the fact that you both are so present in Neo’s care.❤️He is so beautiful and extremely alert for a newborn! He is so calm and the fact that he sleeps 3 hours and doesn’t cry much is huge! Everything will fall into place, you sure know what you’re doing. Wow, 5 hours sleep …awesome!!!

I’m 5 months pp today, and it’s still hard. The emotions and being home all the time hit me hard. My LO is smiling, laughing, trying to roll, trying to get up when he’s laying on our lap. He’s doing so many things that it distracts me from how I really feel ❤ They do grow up quick.

I do hope that breastfeeding has gotten better for you. The way you described your experience brought back so many memories. I remember the "toe-curling" pain at first also. Hang in there. Raya, I felt your talk about breastfeeding so much!! It is so hard, but I promise it will get easier and the pain will go away! I struggled with pain during breastfeeding for about 5-6 weeks. But now, I’m almost 7 months in and it is the most beautiful thing in the world!!! You guys are doing amazing! Neo is so beautiful!! Blessings to you all!!!! 🥰

As a mum of four adults, breastfeeding does hurt for awhile due to the nipples being sore. It passes after they get tougher. You are doing great. ❤

My sister had warned me that even having an "easy" time breastfeeding, the first month is really tough! It was the best advice since it set the expectation very realistically. And I had a wonderful midwife who set up a "cafe" at home to get me more comfortable feeding outside the home. It was so worth it for me to get through that first month and have the easiest child meal-planning for the rest of the year! 😜

This is so wonderful. I was so excited to watch this when I saw your uploaded! I’ve commented this before - not that I’m a mum yet but I relate so much. Haven’t been around new borns a lot but SO excited to become a mum one day. I’m also self employed and again, not pregnant or trying but already think about how it’ll be not working and depending on my partner (he already said he’s happy to take that responsibility when it comes to it which is sweet). It ‘becomes’ pain free, is more accurate. With my three, once I got beyond six weeks, everything fell into place. So, you’re doing great and you’ll get there very soon. Neo is absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations.

Breast feeding is definitely not an automatic thing. I went thru the same thing with my first baby, with cracked and bleeding nipples (10/10 pain wise), and actually gave up after 3 weeks! :( With my 2nd baby I really prepped the last couple months of pregnancy, toughening up my nipples, reading a book called The Womanly Art of Breast Feeding, and was much more prepared! I breast fed until my daughter was 1 year old and self weaned. It does get better!! You are doing an amazing job!! And I promise after awhile it is second nature and so so convenient having milk at the ready wherever you are! Hang in there!!

Was going to give you heaps of advice as I felt very similar feelings as a FTM BUT instead I hear you, I've felt as you have before and now that I've had my 2nd baby I've been able to really enjoy it and haven't had those overwhelming feelings this time. You are doing everything you can for him and yourself and it'll work itself out!

Went through the exact thing with my first kid. Baby grows and your body strengthens. The journey definitely needs to be talked about more. It will get better! Take care of yourself! Just take one day at a time and find joy everyday where you can! You’re not a bad mom! You’re doing enough! You’re the perfect mom for that baby! The smiles kept me going to! Glad you’re seeing breastfeeding consultants! Second baby was slightly painful with breast feeding maybe the first few days or week but it wasn’t as bad and I knew it would get better and it was awesome after that!

I also loved wearing each of my boys as they napped and on walks, to appointments, etc. I always managed to get more done when I wore them and they were so much happier. I can tell you’re both so happy and enjoying this beautiful newborn time. It goes all too fast. A couple books that had a long term impact when I had a newborn: The Wonder Weeks and The Diaper Free Baby (also the Attachment Parenting Book by Sears). You guys are doing amazing! Literally relate to everything you said when talking about the first 10 days as a mom. I was soooo emotional, I personally felt insecure about my abilities to care for my daughter as a new mom. I would cry when she would cry. I had PPA as well. For a while. But now my baby girl is about to be 8 months in a week and she has grown so much & being a mom has been the best thing. I love it. I don’t want my life before her. So grateful. You are doing incredible breast feeding. I didn’t produce enough but pumping is exhausting. But she had been formula fed and doing great! Best wishes on your new journey as parents!

This vlog brought me back 22 years and enjoyed to think back of all those memories... Sometimes It still is a shock to see and wrapp my head around the fact that my little one is all grown up and a woman that stands so tall in live... Enjoy the ride and realise you are on a yourney together and no one has the only right answer how to help your child to get to be a strong person. The best is to pass the positive life-vibe on.... So sending some positive energy your way...

I remember having a lot of the same feelings you describe. You two are doing an amazing job as parents. He is precious and the memories that you are capturing will be something that you will treasure forever. My first born had an excellent latch, but my second baby was tongue tied and did not have a good latch. So, I've experienced no pain and a lot of pain. The most helpful breastfeeding advice that I got was to take my baby off and try again for a better position on the latch and to express a little bit of milk onto finger tips after each feed and rub it on areas that are dry, sore, or cracked. Breastmilk has amazing healing properties and helped way more than lanolin if that is something you're experiencing.

Neo is blessed to have such good caring parents ! What an awesome dad !! Take it easy guys. Just enjoy your beautiful son ! 💕🌷

I remember THAT pain - like a vice grip😫🥺😳. And I’m so grateful that I didn’t give up - but I sure wanted to! It got better. Don’t be afraid to pump and bottle feed every now and again, just to give yourself a break - and for Lois to help in the feedings. It won’t ruin Neo! It goes by SO FAST (from a mom of now 20+ year old boys). Continue to take snippets of time for yourself. He’ll soon fall into a routine and days and nights will be easier. I WISH I had all these videos of life w my babies to look on now. You’re doing a great job, both of you 💙
