I'd love to see all these 90s movies on 4k Kino release Falling down (1993) Breakdown (1997) Pacific Heights (1990) Cool Runnings (1993) Death Becomes Her (1992) Eyes Wide Shut (1999) Criterion release Kids (1995) White Man Can't Jump (1992) LA Confidential (1997) The Game (1997) The Thin Red Line (1997) American Beauty (1999) Arrow Release Goodwill Hunting (1997) Being John Malkovitch (1999) Edward Scissorhands (1990) The Last of The Mohicans (1992) Murder in the First (1995) Sleepers (1996) Shout Factory Release Anaconda (1997) Arachnophobia (1990) Cape Fear (1991) Stargate (1994) Outbreak (1995) A Simple Plan (1998)
The way you guys pronounce "criterion" hurts me--ha. Otherwise another great video obvs Totally agree on Romy & Michele and The Night Flier. (I have a DVD of the Night Flier that's framed in a weird way with the boom mics visible onscreen.)
Off the top of my head: Strange Days, Man on Fire, Kill Bill, The Rock, Crimson Tide, Under Siege, Chronicles of Riddick, Armageddon, and Demolition Man. Don't care who handles them as long as the transfers are done well. I'd also like a better release of Terminator 2, but that would require James Cameron to give a fuck about that, which he apparently does not.
An Arrow Steelbook of The Terminator like the one they did for RoboCop would be amazing... Demolition Man does deserve more than what Kino or Shout (like what they did for Point Break) would usually put out, although I would be happy to get either of those. Personally, I would love to see Vinegar Syndrome or Scream Factory do Peter Jackson's earlier films. Namely, Bad Taste, Braindead (AKA Dead Alive) and Meet the Feebles. Meanwhile, an Australian label like Umbrella should definitely do a Yahoo Serious box set consisting of at least Young Einstein and Reckless Kelly, and they may as well do Mr. Accident too.
Great video! My wish list by label Give me a 4k Tony Scott boxset (Crimson Tide, Last Boy Scout, Man on Fire) - Arrow 4K UK release for Trainspotting - Second Sight Straight Time 4K (1978) - Criterion And I know my man Carlito Brigante would love a Movie Vault release of Carlito's Way
Scream Factory - Near Dark 88 Films - John Woo's Filmography (A Better Tomorrow Movies, The Killer, Hard Boiled, Bullet in the Head Kino - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) Criterion - Gone Girl (also Assassination of Jesse James, somebody already mentioned) Shout Select - Airheads Eureka - Accident Man Box Set Second Sight - Children of Men Arrow - Cape Fear (Remake or both in like a two-pack or something) Vinegar Syndrome - R.O.T.O.R.
I want an Arrow release of Dick Tracy, another film where the colors POP. Warren Beatty, that madman, he STILL has the rights to Dick Tracy movies and won't let them go lol.
I agree with you about House Party with Criterion releasing it. They also need to release Brown Sugar and The Wood. They never released these titles in Blu-ray, so we definitely need them in 4k.
Definitely “Freddy Got Fingered”- ideally VinSyn but I’d take it from whoever. Same with “Demolition Man” (my pick for a VSU, albeit WB and there’s no relationship there with VinSyn). Huge underscores forboth of these releases- instant buy. I’d even go for “Just One Of The Guys” and “House Party” (1&2 even). Great picks!
Dream-but-will-never-happen selection: Criterion-style treatment box set of Star Wars 1-6.. new scans from original elements, newly remastered with all the beautiful grain. Including an option for original theatrical cuts. Hey, I can dream can’t I?
Not all pressing as the same! I just picked up uk studio canal of 5th element it’s in dv and the Sony I have is in hdr10. The studio canal far better much better encoding and higher bit rate. So do your homework or just pick up them all and compare for yourself.
Random ones of mine i’d love… Second Sight - Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford 4K limited edition Arrow - The Descent (maybe just blu? Not sure how would hold up 4K), Starship Troopers or Chris Nolan’s Insomnia Criterion - Usual Suspects or a 4K Pans Labyrinth
Shout Select : The Girl Next Door Arrow Video : American Pie Criterion : In The Bedroom KINO LORBER : Lucas Second Sight : The Fly VINEGAR SYNDROME : The Mask ( Cher)
@@russceasetheruss5360 apparently yea if you look at the old vhs tape art work the main vato el gallo had a chick and a whole story line that was cut out of the movie lol they cut down/out alot of the violence just to get an R rating.
Would love to see Arrow to do a box set of Cape Fear(1962) and (1991). Done like they did for the two Conan films. Criterion would be perfect for City of God(2002). The Stepfather(1987) by Second Sight. The Stepford Wives(1975) by Scream Factory. Silver Streak (1976) by Kino and Sorcerer by Vinegar Syndrome. ALL IN 4K please. I loved your choices guys. Keep doing what you’re doing.
I wouldn't be surprised if they released The Terminator. I mean it's very Arrow type of movie. Doesn't MGM have the rights to that.? We might get it sooner than we think.
Demo man yessss Arrow to me But I really want Fightclub from feels like criterion but still want a steelbook it's 25years this year should be something. But I agree with alot Thought scream doing Idle hand made me happy
Hi Guys. Good discussion. Demolition Man in 4k would be awesome and especially if it was an Arrows chunky box set! Tango & Cash would also be a day one purchase for me.
Some good 4K picks. I'm down for The Love Witch, Cheech & Chong, and Just One of the Guy's. Romy and Michele would be good too. I ordered Late Night With The Devil from Umbrella, and I'm looking forward to The Terminator. 👍🏻 Here's a list I threw together... Arrow Video - Dark City (1998) Criterion - Eyes Wide Shut (1999) Film Vault - Quadrophenia (1979) KL - Lost In Translation - (2003) Scream Factory - Disturbing Behaviour (1998) Second Sight - Pontypool (2008) Shout Select - Licence To Drive (1988) Vinegar Syndrome - Day of the Dead (1985) Sony Steel - The Social Network (2010)
Somewhat similar to the Cheech and Chong box set, my pick for Shout Select would be a 4K edition of Where the Buffalo Roam. My picks for Criterion would include 4K upgrades of Eraserhead, Badlands and Inside Llewyn Davis.
21 Grams and Romy & Michelle are both excellent picks. These would be mine. My Vinegar Syndrome pick - Fateful Findings by the master Neil Breen. Sony Steel - The Lives of Others or The Hunt The Film Vault - Band of Brothers Scream Factory - Hush Shout Select - Raising Arizona Criterion - The Insider Second Sight - Incendies Kino Lorber - 10 Things I Hate About You Arrow - Swingers
The Love Witch from Arrow would be fire. But if not that then give me Friday. The Swimmer from Criterion and 3 Ninjas or Mac and Me from Vinegar Syndrome
Whenever we get Friday, they BETTER include the theatrical in 4K... I still have a New Line snapper case of Friday on DVD due to my blu-ray only having the Director's Cut (which ruins the flow of a movie I watched constantly as a teen).
I NEED No Country For Old Men on 4K already, but not exactly sure who I’d want to handle it cause I’m not as familiar with these boutique labels. Criterion seems like a decent pick though.
It definitely feels like something Criterion would do, but I could see Kino doing it. That said, which label is largely irrelevant as long as the transfer is done well.
@@DregHeaps That was a one-off exception that happened because the director pushed for it and the label was CC. It doesn't mean that doors are open to any boutique. Disney also had a deal with Kino Lorber several years ago, but currently they have a policy of not licensing.
Re-animator -Arrow, Fight Club -NA, Phantom of the Paradise -Vinegar Syndrome, All 5 Phantasms-Arrow, The TCM (2003)-Shout/Scream, The Hills Have Eyes (2006)-Shout/Scream, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane-NA, Mandy -Shout/Scream, Up In Smoke-NA, Slap Shot - NA, First 3 Scary Movies --NA, The Survivors -NA, Going Berserk -NA, Run Ronnie Run --NA, PF's The Wall-Vinegar Syndrome/Criterion, Kill Bill vol. 1&2-Kino.
Been wanting a 4K VS release of Freddy got fingered myself for a long time. Gotta be the most underrated comedy. In a just world, Tom Green would've been allowed to continue. And he'd probably have atleast 3 more classics to his name.
I wasn't kidding when I said I've analyzed this movie up and down... There's a way to view it in that he actually DIDN'T want to make a movie. Green's kind of alluded to this, that he saw it more like "I'd be a fool to turn down an opportunity that most would kill for" rather than a passion to make a film. In this sense, the Anthony Michael Hall character, is the studio, crew, etc. commenting on X-Ray Cat... X-Ray Cat is Freddy Got Fingered. The million dollar advance he gets in the movie and blows ridiculously, is a statement on Freddy Got Fingered's budget/production itself... This film is meta. It's an artistic statement from somebody forced to make art, showcasing a very rare attitude/outlook we see in movies, ESPECIALLY ones backed by Hollywood... It does this all while being HILARIOUS and intentionally trying to offend its audience.
@russceasetheruss5360 Never would've guessed there could be that kinda depth behind the movie. That's pretty cool though. Next time I watch it, I'll have to keep that all in mind. Hopefully I'll be doing so on 4k. Hope I get Freddy on 4k soon, I've got my fingers crossed! Hope I get Freddy on 4k soon I've got my fingers crossed! crawwwsed.. crossed. Sorry had to.
Shout Select seems to have a lock on Stone's discography... Right now there is a 4K in existence of Born on the 4th of July in the foreign market, and I'm waiting for Shout to release it. I also surprisingly liked the Wall Street sequel, and in particular, it's ending. I usually hate when people say this, but I do think here it's true, that it went over a lot of people's heads.
Great choices guys! Just one of the guys 4k Steelbook lol But for me personally it’s… Dead Presidents Boxing Helena Down and out in Beverly Hills Stakeout Young Guns II 4k Steelbook
@iamzed9915 We live in close proximity to Philly, Teddy Pendergrass was a boss... Sadly, I don't think I referenced I Miss You, but that song and the spoken word interlude are top notch.
