Watch our “Despacito” music video: • DESPACITO (Harp Twins)...
Filmed entirely with an iPhone by our mom!
Filming this video was a challenge! After filming for a few hours, we were almost done when a gust of wind blew over our tripod - breaking our tripod and video camera. All of our video footage was lost. We went to a nearby electronics store, but the video cameras were too expensive and the experts said they couldn’t retrieve our footage. We shed a few tears and then pulled ourselves together. We asked our mom to walk around and film us with our iPhone - she had never filmed anything with an iPhone before. Thumbs up for mom! We went back to the video location (the same day we had filmed and lost our footage) and filmed this video! We hope you enjoy!

MrVladteples ~ Thank you so much! It means a lot because we do everything ourselves for our videos from concept to completion! We arrange the music, find/scout the video locations, find or make our costumes, film with a small hand-held video camera on a tripod - No videographer, backtrack, loops, harp overlays, director, crew, videographer, or production people. We are based in Chicago but travel where we are hired to play. We have no budget to hire anyone for anything so we try to film ourselves while we are traveling (via minivan) for performances. We usually have very limited time (a couple of hours) to film ourselves and stay on our travel, work, performance schedule. We do not make our living on YT. Our 92 music videos are a gift from our hearts for our fans... and now this channel, too. :) :) x2

Love the BTS addition to this page! Mom did a great job with your iPhone. Friendly advice for you. For your next tri-pod invest in one that has a hook on the bottom that you can attach a weight bag to keep it stable in windy locations.

Old pro tip for windy or shooting on a moving platform, take a gear bag and "hang it" under the tripod with the weight on the ground. The rope/tie/bungie needs to be almost lifting the weight. It will stabilize the pod and make it VERY difficult to tip it over. Many of the Iphone/pad cameras are very good. I've even seen people set up a high def web cam or two and a laptop and shoot 2 angles at a time.

I did a lot of photography with film and huge lenses at events. The last thing I wanted to see was a 1200-1700 mm lens and camera on the ground. The lens alone was 35 pounds. I rented it by the day as $63,000.00 was a bit more than my wallet held at the time. I learned a lot about camera and lens stabilization to avoid going broke.

Your mom ruled the video and her comment about being paid was insanely awesome! She’s great. Close with my mother as well. Best Buy is great, walked in and out with a new phone without paying anything. BB gave me a $4G credit limit. Saved my life or I would have had no phone for about a week. Loved this video! I too am even more impressed learning it's only the 3 of you making the videos (I saw others saying similar is why I said "I too"),I'd always thought there was a whole team as well. You both seem to have fantastic sense's of humour. You really seem like very REAL and friendly people, even kind and sincere. At least that is how I have interpreted some of your stories, comment on video and interviews watched. What really drew me in was oddly enough, your story about the "Creepy" and highly unprofessional Air Steward that actually pulled on your braids and made a trolley bell sound. Tie something heavy (but not too heavy that it will break the tripod) from the centre of the tripod (the spot that is becomes 3 different legs) loose enough that it barely touches the ground. Your camera bag is probably sufficient. You want to lower the centre of gravity so the tripod will move less. Also the tripod legs really should be fully extended for better stability. I suppose you were just trying to lift the camera higher but if you're not holding it there's a huge risk the tripod will fall when the legs aren't extended properly. Plus the higher a tripod is extended the less stable it becomes, especially if it's not one of those heavy professional tripods with the scary prices. Even if everything fails and the camera breaks, the footage might not be lost if it managed to get saved in an sd card. So if you don't film everything in one go, the footage prior to the fall should still be safely stored. If you're going to film using a phone, an iPhone really isn't among the best options but I guess it works as a last resort. A good equipment is important but a creative person can make do with less. :)

So sorry to hear your camera got broke but your mom did a fantastic job with the iphone!,i hope you get a new one soon so you can continue to make your awesome videos!,by the way,i would happily work for you for nothing,just being able to meet you would be enough for me!

Yay for Harp Mom! And fingers crossed you can get a new camera and tripod soon. The world would be a darker place without new* and exciting Harp Twins music. *(not that your earlier works aren't stellar, but more is better!) =)

Good cameras are expensive, and sadly, bad cameras are, too. I think you two should consider spending more than you think you should, since quality RU-vid videos are what I think you are mostly known for. I'd be happy to make some recommendations for you, when it comes time to replace the broken camera.
