Our Canal BOAT Holiday Turns SCARY! 

This Narrow boat series has been a real pleasure to watch poor Mzzzy on the locks she did really well opening and closing all those gates a big thumbs up for Mazzy. That tunnel looked pretty daunting I would have been scared to death coming across that just after leaving the boat yard you've gone really well what an adventure brilliant.

Mazzy your hair looked amazing all tousled like that....very pretty💖 I'm amazed at how well you both adapted so quickly to boat life. Mazzy doing all the locks on her own, and Dan doing all the manoeuvring ....Well done both👍 Really enjoyed these videos, but I'm looking forward your motorhome videos again as well....bet it will seem huge compared to the boat. My grandfather worked the narrowboats as a young boy. He used to tell us about going through the tunnels laying on his back and pushing through them with his feet.

OMG! Dan - you said "next time" Mazzy has to learn to control the boat better. That means there's going to be a next time! Great!

That canal looks like such a nice one to cruise for a few days. Interesting that you said smaller boats are harder to cruise than bigger ones, as I found that. We hired a 69ft 3 berth one and it was much easier to control than a little tiny dayboat about the length of this one, could hardly keep it straight so I reckon you've done amazingly with that one!

I've always wanted to cruise on a narrow boat , I live in the U.S..so I probably won't ever get to. I have really enjoyed your trip. 💕

My brother owns a narrow boat and we have stayed with them. A longer boat gives you fixed beds which really help. Enjoyed the vlogs , well done both Dan and Mazzy 👍👍

Hello again guys. I am a happier man today. I have the feeling, almost of euphoria, which you get, when your vehicle passes it’s MOT.! You know the feeling Dan! Mine was in a garage today for an Annual Service and MOT. I got a straight MOT pass, with no advisories. This means an extra beer or two tonight. It obviously cost me a bit, but it was well worth it. Enough about that. You two are becoming seasoned boaters already, as your narrow boat experience draws to a close. I get the feeling that you will be up for doing this again. I really hope you will, at some point. It adds an interesting new dimension to your already, great vlogs. Duck food is a new one for me Dan, I have learned from you that there is such a thing. Around here, they just throw bits of bread into the water, where the ducks are! These berries looked like sloes , which are sometimes used in the making of gin. Whether you can eat them on their own,I don’t know. I wouldn’t like to say that you can, then you eat them and become poorly! I definitely wouldn’t want to go there! That looks quite scary, travelling through the tunnel, by means of the headlamps on the boat, but you did it with skill. Well done. It’ll be back to the more familiar van life soon. Take care. 👍😃✋

Love that little narrowboat. Maybe a snidge longer with a fixed bed and a bit bigger loo, but looks cute and easy to steer/moor/turn etc...and loving these vlogs

it is a real small boat ; but for a few days it is a real nice way to get some feeling for the whole canal life ambiance ; it is a good and succesful first try .

Yea absolutely loved these boating videos it was a eye opener lots of physical work on them locks with my aches and pains might be to much for me

This may seem strange but at 29.19 time stamp in the tunnel right after you had said stalagmite things something flashed across the screen, Now it could have been the dark tunnel, camera etc but to me it looked like a cryptid called rods or skyfish, Like I said it could have been anything but it certainly looked like one of them, Slow down the footage to 0.25 and see if you can screenshot it, I think you may have captured an extremely rare cryptid

Hi bud long time no chat good to see your doing well. Do you know you can feed ducks garden peas they love them cheaper then buying expensive duck food 😉

If you fancy a different kind of boat holiday consider norfolf broads no locks and different type of steering experience" richardsons" are reasonably priced depending on time of year and have a small boat with 4 poster bed in bedroom and you don't have to keep climbing over and no making bed up and down just a thought for the future

Those little black berries look like Sloes, one use I know of for them is to flavour Gin. People put them in a bottle of Gin and leave them for a couple of months to add a flavour to the Gin, but you need a lot more then two. There’s probably other things they can be used for but I’m not sure what.

Captain Dan and Captain Mazzy, they were blue blueberries and yes they are edible. Just wash them first before eating.

Everyone is saying those Berries are Damsons. They are not we have Damson trees and they are small plums, they are greener when small but are 10x the size of those small round ones Dan had. I believe the ones Dan had were "Blue Hawthorn Berries"

The fruit you picked are sloe berries, very bitter but ok to eat, my neighbour puts them in gin to marinate, apparently makes a very smooth drink.

Sounds like that boat needed a good service on the engine, that sqeeling was the belt loose for a start. those berries you saw were Soles you can make gin out of them.

Daft question from someone who hasn’t been on or ever driven/Steered a narrow boat but see those bricks at the front under the bed would that tip the front of the boat down so the motor/rudder (?) at the back would be higher in the water so wouldn’t catch the bottom of the canal?……Or was that a silly question? 🙈
