Cov Kid here. True Cov Kid. Coventry born and bred. I am all for multiculturalism and immigration but could there not have been more people actually born and bred in Cov in this video - whether they be black, white, Asian, Irish etc. I grew up in a buzzing multicultural city with mainly Irish, black, Asian friends - reflected by The Specials, one of the first urban multicultural bands, hardly given a mention in this video. I supported a multicultural team - the Sky Blues, practically invented by Jimmy Hill (not mentioned in this film). Cyrille Regis, Lloyd McGrath, Dave Bennett heroes not mentioned in this film. Coventry City icons as players and managers John Sillett and George Curtis - not mentioned at all, nor is 1987 unless I missed something!! Scandalous. My dad and grandad worked in car factories all their lives. Hardly mentioned. There is more here about people who just arrived than anything about actual Coventry people. This could be any city they're talking about. Cov Kid says a thousand times more ACTUAL COV needs to be injected into this video. A place probably once to be proud of, completely ruined of opportunity. Says a lot when one of the first shots in the footage is the Ricoh, home to London Wasps... Never the less, if we did win this it would be huge for the city.
