We've built what we think to be one of the best video production vans in the world. It's a 2015 Ford Transit and is equipped with modular shelves, a power system with solar and inverter, seating for 4, drone antennas and tons more. This is a walkaround tour of the ultimate van built for filming.

What multiband antenna are you using? And how do you use multiple devices. Is there an antenna slitter and mini sma outlets in the van?

Correct. There's 5 SMA's in the van that pass through the roof into the antenna. They're routed to their appropriate device. 2 of them are just loose to be plugged into drone stuff.

How many turbos has it been through at this point and has it had transmission problems, or any other major problems? Beautiful build!

It's had a few turbos, yea, and a torque converter. It has 150k on it now.

I have 2 transits. This black one which now has 140k miles and a grey one I built into a camper. No rust on either, and I live in Michigan with very salty winter roads.

I was looking at the E350 short bus for a production vehicle but am slightly worried about the weigh station thing etc. Apparently you only need less than 24k lbs. The only thing I think you need a license/permit to business out of the vehicle. Correct me if I am wrong.

That's incorrect. If you're over 10k GVWR on either your vehicle or a trailer, or a vehicle + trailer combined is over 10k, and your engaged in commerce. You're a commercial vehicle. You need DOT numbers, safety inspection, a medical certificate for your driver, logbook (either E or otherwise) and keep hours of service. You may get away with it for a long time. But over 10k gross, and commercial, you're commercial. 26k that you mention is whether or not that driver needs a Class A or B CDL, or CDL at all.

Can I ask what walkie-talkies you use? I run a small photo video crew for events and cannot seem to find a good set of walkie-talkies that will sound good and last all day long…

We use Retevis DMR stuff. We have a couple licenses in the business band, and they're compatible with Motorola and Kenwood DMR and have great options for repeaters and stuff too.

It's an AluCab Shadow Awn. Has been great. Except it's kind of a bear to zip it back into it's bag when it's 10ft in the air.

How does the battery unit do in the extreme heatt and cold?

Batteries are AGM so they don't love extreme cold. We have a boat bilge heater in the box though to keep them warm.

Which shelf? The big slider? The slide itself is 62 inches long. The entire shelf is 68" long. 20" wide I believe.

No it isn't. This is a 2015, so before the crew model existed. We added the seats.

It's just a vehicle shark fin 4 in 1. There's lots of variants depending what frequencies you need.

@@oudomsambatchorn851 Yea. that's what we use it for. Most drones are in the 2.4/5.8ghz band which is super easy to get an antenna for.

@@BangersMatt yeah I see, but have you tried with wireless video system such as Vaxis Accsoon etc? I do live-streaming for events and conferences and would benefit from long range wireless video transmission and crowding area where people would cover the camera operator with the KOL lol.

Sprinter isn't any bigger really, unless you get into the extended bodies which can't easily parallel park.. Tall Transit is 81.5 interior height. Tallest Sprinter is 79.1. Length of same body options interior area (non extended versions) Transit 143.7 in Sprinter 132.9 in.
