Hello Amanda, I wish you and your family all the best. About 6 yesrs ago I had health issues and was unable to keep my job of 15 years. My car was repossessed, I was evicted from my apartment, homeless for a total of 3 years, with no credit. Most of the time I was outside, staying in hotels and my sister occasionally. I was able to rent an apartment through a friend 1 year ago. I appreciated your debt confession. Keep up the good work!! God Bless.

I love your motto, “ Do what you can with what you got.” You’ve made a lot of progress. Be proud of your accomplishments. I enjoy watching your journey. I’m new to the budgeting/savings community. I stumbled across this in January and started trying. You’re doing great because you keep trying . Thank you for sharing.❤️❤️

@@AmandasBudgets thank you. I’ve tried focusing on an emergency fund & a few sinking funds. I want to play the games but feel I need to take care of something’s first. Just not enough money to go around.

What you just mentioned is what I’ve been dealing with I have so many savings challenges more than I want to mentioned or confess of and I’ve not been able to complete them because there’s not enough money to go around and I think watching other budgeters on RU-vid, who are able to do so many savings challenges and complete them so well and so fast makes those of us who can’t do it Feel kind of like that we’re not successful enough because we’re not playing all the games and having all the brand new budgeting items that are coming out! This is definitely the video that I needed to see today so thank you Amanda! Definitely going to revamp my way of budgeting as well today I think I’m taking it down to just the bare bones of what we need to do and putting aside what needs to be put aside I used to have a monthly Budget system or I would just say how much I needed per month for additional that did not include expenses and that went well when I started to expand though that’s when everything fell apart! I think the only thing that I’m gonna keep on board is my empty Nester challenge, my 1000 envelope challenge And maybe a couple of very small additional challenges but you’re right it’s all about stability! Versatility and aesthetic looking can come later but being stable and having the money you need for your bills and to run your house is what matters the most!

I can tell you this my friend - I never used savings challenges before RU-vid and I still funded sinking funds it’s a façade. Go watch some of these bigger youtube channels who are very successful with finances I don’t see them doing many if ANY challenges. They just stuff their binders. They pay down debts first. I asked one of them in a comment why they don’t use savings challenges like other people the answer was “I don’t need them to fund my sinking funds they are here and ready to be stuffed why prolong the process no matter if it’s a dollar?”

You are so right. When I started in Sept of last year I had a budget set up and paid off 3 cards pretty quickly. Now I’m struggling so much and feel like I’m falling off the deep end. I’ve been paying my CC’s down ($32k) with the snowball method and it’s no longer working. I’m going to try to figure everything out again and start over. I pay a good $900 monthly on minimum payments cause I was dumb before. I just need to start somewhere

You paid your debt off before and will do it again. I’ve come to the realization that I will always have debt even though at times I’ve been debt free. Why? Because of life. Cars don’t last forever, homes need repairs, medical care is expensive and kids need things. I just try to minimize the damage by planning and saving for upcoming expenses. If I have to borrow I start the pay off cycle again. Being ok where you’re at and doing the best you can is all we can do. I’m glad you started your retirement fund as it will come quicker than most realize. Amanda you’re doing amazing job and I hope each year gets better and better for you and your family. ❤

Good job on readjusting your process as you are moving forward. I am at the point where I am focusing on debt. Slowed down my 401K investing, I only do a few saving challanges to get small wins for sinking funds. I started doing a month ahead and will keep what I have there as an extra buffer for emergency. I will have everything but house paid off by the time I am 60. I am almost 58. Slow and steady. Then everything will go in to savings so I can hopfully retire at 65. Keep up the great work.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for sharing your journey. I have been struggling a lot recently with trying to get my finances in order. I sadly carry my burden alone because i cant talk a lot about the finances of our household to my husband because he doesnt understand and gets very emotional. He is mentally disabled and has a significant amount of brain injuries. He was rear-ended by a tractor trailer on the highway going 65 mph and was pushed into a cement wall. He is on disability and I am trying to work as much as possible because I am the only other source of income. My identity has also been stolen 8 different times this year to the point that my name was changed on my social security number with the SSA. However SSA will not give me a new SS number, :( , We are in debt over 300,000 due to my husbands medical bills. I'm currently trying to apply for financial hardship for some of the debt. Sorry for the long comment, I want to thank you again for sharing your journey and your complete honesty.

I know a lot of people have a lot to say about your car payment. But screw them. No one can truly understand yours reasons for doing things and making the decisions you made. Because most of them would never be able to live through half of that you went through. I maintain that you owe no one any explanation. You just work for yourself and I can see you actually have the drive to not get back there. And the Dave Ramsay method doesn't work for everyone.

I finally had a chunk of time to watch the whole video. I'm glad you were able to pay off one credit card. I think stability is important. I do believe stability means different things to different people. For you, being in a high cost apartment was what made things unstable. You got yourself out of that. Then having a bad roof made you unstable. You got yourself out of that. Now you are working on other things that make you feel unstable. Eventually that debt will make you feel unstable. Or maybe you'll work on the sinking funds for a while and then decide to knock out a credit card because it starts bugging you or because you are so close and then go back to the sinking funds. Who knows? If I've learned anything about you, you like to change things up. And you know what? That's okay. Look how far you've come. You're moving forward and that's what matters.

Not sure what we’re gonna do with my daughter who’s gonna be 16 in April for a car she may have to get a used car, but I always told her get one that’s in his best condition that you can then put money aside and when you can flip it and get a new car, then do it because the older the car, the older, the problems, the older, the car the harder the parts are fine the older the car Faster it’s gonna break down 38:15 38:20

It is not much but we get by somehow. 😅 We dont have a lot of homeless people in here. Town that i live in always tries to help people find roof on their heads even there were rent collections or others. Even help to pay a rent for some time if doesnt got job right away.
