That “dining room” area can be babygirl’s play area with tog bins, crawl space, etc so all her baby stuff is not in your living room but she has her area close even to day nap while y’all are in the kitchen or living room

Maybe you could use that “second living room” as ehlani’s play room. You could get a child gate to enclose the side by the flooring. And then she can go from her play area to the main living room with ease.
