I would say do the tape first. Tape isn't going to stick as well if you paint it first

I had the same question. I am thinking tape first and then painting over the tape like he did in the video

Great question. I am trying to figure out if eternabond will bond to apoc 243 advanced roof coating.

@@joeroubique8939 I am using apoc’s nonsilionized roof coating to be safe. It is elastomeric roof coating (apoc 241) to be safe. But i didn’t find out any definitive info on 243

People been using Henry’s Tropicool and painting over it. Seems to do well. Maybe you just have to scuff the tape a little with sandpaper first. I thought I read somewhere that there is a paintable kind. I’ll have to see about that.

I used Liquid Rubber & don’t forget the primer.I also used Kohree 4” tape & I still use Dicor non sag & self leveling.

I just used the Henrys tropicool on my 23 year old epdm roof(cleaned with TSP and then Dawn). How well it sticks depends on a few things. I’ve read it doesn’t stick to eternabond tape, I’ve also read it does. In my case it did. I applied eternabond temporarily about a month ago around the pipe vent and Henry 887 stuck to it really well. Also, (despite saying the opposite on their site), the Recpro 8010 adhesive does stick to aluminum flashing and Henry 887. So well in fact it ripped up the 887 on a section that i splattered some while repairing another section of the roof (with the Recpro repair kit that used pvc). What idk is if eternabond will stick to the 887, another thing I’ve heard ‘nothing sticks to silicone except silicone’…clearly not true.

⁠You are correct nothing sticks to silicone except silicone or maybe an adhesive.I applied Liquid Rubber & used the primer.I’m not sure if it would have adhered directly to my tape because I taped first then primed the entire roof before putting down 4 coats.Time will tell.Hopefully this is my last roofing job unless a branch or something causes a puncture.Thanks for the reply.

You obviously had the docket & complained to the manufacturer, what did they say?

if its not meant for permanent install, why does it have a 25 year warranty vs lap sealants 2 yr?? Eternabond will last longer than the roof membrane

@@markallen4630 The hint is that they don't sell sheets wide enough to cover the entire roof. It does adhere well, no doubt about that. It just is meant as a means to seal along rips or holes. Maybe to reinforce areas that may be subjected to strain on the membrane. Like the edges of the membrane to the gutter trim.
