I think Santino D'antonio still would have come to John with the marker and ordered him to kill his sister. Santino was justifying his reasons for forcing John because of John's rampage in the first film. Santino made it seem like it was John's fault he was asking him in the first place.

@@dereklee7748 what’s curious is the high table allowed him to leave and I’m assuming all markers were void while he was out so D’Antonio wouldn’t have been able to call the marker.

@@RockMountainYJ That's a good point about the High Table but I don't think the Markers he gave were "out" so to speak. The same marker that John forged with Santino allowed him to "leave" in the first place. We know this because Winston asked John why he would give a Marker to Santino knowing what a villain he was to which John replied, "it was the only way I could get out," And if the Marker was void once you got out, why did Santino help John when he would gain nothing? We know his character is super ambitious and zealous enough he'd murder his own flesh and blood for his own agendas. He wouldn't be coerced into getting the Baba Yaga out for nothing. We also see this happen to Caine when he's forced out of retirement to go kill John in the third film. You see, they're not beneath using people if they have a hold over them.
