My cousin sends me the Mozart Kugels for Christmas. They have three types of marzipan inside-the regular almond, the pistachio and the hazelnut. I love them. such a treat. I eat them slowly to make it last-three bites instead of two. Lol. I like saving the foil wrappers to make Christmas garland with.

Aren’t these two adorable!?!? Growing up we always had exchange students, the majority of them were German, in 1984 I went back home with one of our exchange students and stayed for about 2 months. My very very favorite thing was Milka chocolate. OH-MY-WORD..but it was the best chocolate I had ever had! I also loved Haribo Gummy Bears and Toblerone. You can now get Haribo Gummy Bears any where now (even at the Dollar Store!) and Toblerone is readily available as well. I found Milka Chocolate on Amazon and I get them every year for our Christmas stockings. Thank you for sharing your treats with us ❤️ Happy Be-lates Anniversary 🥰

OMG my mouth is watering.....I love all of those snacks, they are my favorites as well ! You can get the real Haribo gummi bears in the usa...some chocolate shops even cover them in chocolate ! At Christmas Aldi sells the German marzipan but you have to get it right away ... they sell out quick. Happy Anniversary. Prost !!!

Happy anniversary for your wedding day you two lovely people! I am German and watching this. So here goes. Saltlets: I used to love them and am glad to buy the glutenfree pretzels here in Germany. Erdnuss-Flippies: once the bag is opened, I have to eat them all cause they are so addictive. Gummibears: I always ate the white ones and then the rest. Dickmanns: I grew up with them on a roll (always eaten in school)and forwarded this to my daughter. Duplo and Hanuta: I grew up with them and so did my children. Nippon: I alway buy them on fairs. It is pooped rice and then bathed in chocolate. Chocolate Bananas is simply Banana flavoured jelly dipped in chocolate. I dont like Marzipan, so I dont eat the Mozart-Kugeln or anything else made of Marzipan. Niederegger is very expensive. Therefore I only buy them for my daughter around Christmas time as a special treat. She loves the Marzipan potatoes from Lidl. DeBeukelaer Prinzenrolle: I grew up with it and my children as well. Today I cannot eat them any longer due to my gluten intolerance. But I think they are available in a glutenfree version.

Happy anniversary! I spent a lot of my childhood living in Germany ( on and off between 1976 & 1990), so major nostalgic vibes going on here 😍. I remember all of them except the Motzart kugeln. Super dickmann's were a childhood staple, I always missed those when we came back to the UK. Lidl did sell a different brand of them, but when our store got a refit they disappeared 😭. Lidl also do sometimes sell the erdnuss flips, which I buy for hubby as I detest peanut flavoured things. Schogetten is also something I miss and Lidl did used to sell them, but they disappeared too 😭. Lastly Paprika crisps, I really miss German Paprika crisps!

Haribo gummi bears are a sweets staple where I live, which is Wisconsin. (It’s a very German state, though.) A grocery store near me added wine gums to their British section and I was so excited to try them!!! But then I ate one and thought it was so gross! Very hard, bad flavor. I’m a haribo girl! That being said, I do love me some fruit pastilles candy!

The snowballs are sort of like s’mores here in the US made with graham crackers, hershey chocolate bars & toasted marshmallows. First learned about them in the 1950’s when I was in the girl scouts. So good. We have Haribo gummies here. The flippies look like our cheese puffs. Am definitely a snack foods lover. So interesting to see yours and how similar they are to ours.

Just wanted to tell you my Erdnuss Flippies arrived yesterday !! You are SO right they are really good. I do not drink beer so I just munched on them. Hubby agrees if we ever see them again we will definitely purchase ! LOL Thank you so much for the tip !

Kirsten, my ears can't work out if you are English with great German or German with an incredible English accent - unglaublich! I used to live in Germany and now I so miss the snacks and the huge range of herbal teas in supermarkets :D Oh and the mini toiletries from DM/Rossman! The Mozart marzipan candies come here to the U.S. at Christmas time as well as German Christmas stollen. We order a ton of to "supposedly" last us a long time but strangely it just disappears into thin air a week after Christmas is over. 🤷‍♀️

I make a lemony cheesecake. I crush Graham crackers mixed with butter for the crust. Then bake then add the cake and bake it After its baked and cooled I add sour cream to the top. On top of that we usually add a cherry pie filling or fresh strawberries. It's very good.

this was fun to watch ... whenever I travel the first thing I do is go to the grocery store & see what unusual snacks they have

We have Aldi here in the US and I regularly buy Haribo gummie bears there. They are the best. Germany definitely has the best beer.

In the US 🇺🇸 they’re called pretzel rods! Pretzels 🥨 were brought to the US by German ancestors.

My husband and I are taking a driving trip within the United States in October. I am surprising him on our last day with a stay at Helen Georgia. It’s a fake Swabian town in Georgia, USA. Very briefly last year my Aldi's (Northern New Jersey in the US) sold Erdnus Flippys I think, but it was called PeanutButter Curls. I really enjoyed them, but they are rich. So just a little now and then as a special treat.

That was a treat to watch. I have a great many food allergies myself and I am also Gluten free. (Egg free, Milk/Dairy free, Nut free) SO its nice to see things others can enjoy. We do have gluten free pretzel sticks here in the US. Glutino is the brand. But I can not eat them because of other ingredients that I can't tolerate. I have tasted them, they are not bad. I remember loving salted pretzel sticks when I was younger.

I lived in Koln for 5 yrs, in my 20's & loved the food but especially the marzipan specialist shops like little boutiques & the most amazing confections were so beautiful to look at as well as eat. The mix of pure almond marzipan wth fruits nuts toffee candy then chocolate covered & sold slice by slice from a Swiss Roll shape. So heavenly! Also sold in most shops were marzipan Kartofflen or potatoes it was rough chunks of marzipan covered in cocoa powder & looked like small potatoes & were delish I love German sweets & snacks I shall go to Lidl soon if they sell my fave marzipan treats

I love raw almonds but nothing else almond flavored or scented. I don't like Halvah either. Oh well! Chocolate or fresh fruit is good! I've never seen your beer but wondered if it was from Wölfach or Oberwölfach in the Black Forest? I like dark, old beers (dunkles, altes). Have you ever tried the British beer, "Old Peculiar?" I love it! I read about it in a Martha Grimes mystery. One of her protagonists, Melrose Plant, drinks it. He's a British Lord who has given up his title because he doesn't like classism. Hallo from Russia, as usually in Supermarkets we have Haribo and Ritetsport, chocolate bananas, some tipe of marzipans. When I was at Germany I didn’t try biggest part of sweets, but I really love Halloren Kugeln and sweet rise with topping.

We use to have chocolate bananas as a child. I also loved tea cakes which are like ones you place in a roll. The rice choc covered ones , makes me think of rice krisples cakes we make for the children. my mother loved mazipan and she would buy the choc covered roll at Xmas time. X

Happy belated Anniversary! We have a lot of this stuff available in Norway too. Salt sticks and gummy bears have many fans, and people either love or hate marzipan and snow balls. (We call them "coco-buns" because they're sprinkled with grated coconut.) The only thing I don't think I've seen here is the peanut butter snacks. I'd try those! And boy do I miss the days when we had Lidl...

The peanut butter snack- something similar I enjoy is a Korean snack of puffs covered is roasted soy flour- which tastes very much like peanut butter as well. Injeolmi rice cakes is what they are based off of.

I love this video as I have a massive sweet tooth and I have and would eat all of them! Cannot find many in Portland, Oregon where I live, but we can get many different and unusual flavors of haribo gummy bears at our huge Japanese supermarket here in. Portland. If you like I could collect up many flavors for you and ship them over? Most of the German treats you shared have an American version that doesn’t appear as tasty as those you shared, but similar to what I grow up with having German grandparents On one side and Italian/English on the other side. Your videos are such a treat. My husband and I are presently planning our retirement move back to Disley, in Cheshire, so we are very excited. Coming to shop for a home as soon as we can get into the country safely And shop for properties. We want to be in a small home in a cute quaint village, walking distance to the pub and small market. What a sweet treat to share your 28th anniversary and all your German goodies, but you two are the sweetest🤗 Luckily, I can get Haribo gummy bears here in Tennessee, because I’m addicted to them, but missing marzipan so much. My dear friends took me to lovely Luebeck at Christmas time in 2009, where we visited marzipan heaven at the Niederegger shop. Hopefully I can find some at the local Aldo.

We have a German owned store in Florida called Aldi and I tried some German beer I found there, Wernesgrüner. It took a tiny bit of getting used to, but now I can’t stand American beer anymore because it tastes like half beer, half water. I’m having one right now! 👍 Hopefully Wernesgrüner isn’t considered crappy beer in Germany. 😛

We used to eat snowballs straight. But during lunchbreak at school we went to the bakery. We ordered snowballs in white rolls (Schrippen, Brötchen, Weck), they were so delicious. Prinzenrolle, Mozartkugeln, Gummibärchen, Niederegger Marzipan, Salzstangen.. - you really have the choice that I love too. German sweets are just delicious. Thanks for the great video

So fun to see your favorites. My grandparents came from Germany in the 1920s and 30s to the US, my grandmother from Worpswede and grandfather from Wuppertal. Every time my grandmother would travel back to visit family she would return with the Haribo gummy bears for all the grandchildren. Now that they are gone I get them for all the children in the family at the holidays. We also have a franchise of German butchers here in the US called Karl Ehmer's. There are not so many of them left but were very popular in the Northeast and New York area where many Germans settled. They have all sort of German goodies too and I have seen the duplo and the bars of marzipan in the red and white packaging there too. So nice to be able to get these traditional items here in the States too.
