Our Favourite Shahrukh Khan Films | Memories of Cinema Ep 3 | Ahona Chanda & Harshit Bansal 

Zero is a good movie (the Netflix version) There is the idea of pride and ego which is directly proportional to a person’s height. The more his height the more is his pride. Bauua played by Khan has immense ego however in this case it is inversely proportional to his height. His moments of revolt are always when he is made to realise that with this built and height you’ll get this much only. Case in point - during his wedding with Aafia ( played by Anushka ) he runs away to Babita (played by Katrina) because he is made to realise that Aafia is your max achievement and nothing more should be wished by you in your life. However, Bauua who we know can burst stars has a gift of charm to get hands on with Babita and shadows her. Babita has her journey of pride and ego which is actual the mirror for Bauua. They both realise this and Babita makes him run away by breaking his ego and her own. A cinematic gem scene if you ask me is when she throws him out and laughs as Bauua cries and then runs away happily. But Bauua’s pride and ego is shatter when he learns that Aafia and he have a son who is ‘normal’ not physically restrained as either of his parents. It is at this point that he does everything he can SRK style to win Aafia’s heart back again. Just like he broke the celling in the first half he breaks everyone’s beliefs gets selected for the Mars program and actually goes to Mars for Aafia. Mars also has in interesting role to play here. Men are from Mars , Mars is red - arrogant Red so another mirror for Bauua’s broken ego and goal for his mission to win Aafia’s heart and fulfil her dream which the director sadly doesn’t highlight and/or concentrate enough for the audience.

My favourites are Swades, Main Hoon Na, Dil Se, Chak De India, Kal Ho Na Ho, Devdas, Badshah, Veer Zaara. It's quite a long list. I have watched Badshah more than 20 times. I am not a native, I wasn't born and brought up here, my parents are Russian. But i regularly live here and I'm almost an Indian now with good grasp of the languages. And SRK is one big reason for that. Edit - Almost forgot Mohabbatein. It was a gem.

Can't believe you guys didn't mention My Name is Khan even once in 52 mins! That's like talking about Dustin Hoffman and not mentioning Rain Man. But otherwise, liked the episode. My favourite SRK movie has to be Swades, and fave acting performance is My Name is Khan. He has starred in SO MANY great and iconic songs, but Chhaiya Chhaiya has to be by far the most iconic. The song in itself is brilliant, the video is amazing, the location and the fantastic choreography. Among the lesser known songs, Chaand Taare from Yes Boss is something special.

Zero and fan are my least favourites srk films and swades best ever and darr and baazigar best performances ever.
