Our First Day In Paris + Apartment Tour! 🇫🇷✈️| Vlog No. 1 

Hey loves! Just to clarify, my lil rant at the end about what happened that night isn't to say parisians in general were all rude to me. It was just that one off experience that evening. I would say everyone was mostly neutral. I also met some really lovely and warm people which truly made the experience great for me! Please don't feel sorry for what happened to us or feel like you have to be ashamed for what they've done (if you're from Paris) and I mean this in the best way possible! 😹 I wanted to mention the story so that no one else goes through this unfortunate situation and maybe avoids the louvre's food court restrooms during closing hours lolol 💖 thanks so much for watching and enjoying the video!! ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

So she briefly mentioned this, but you can't get out of the underground unless you have the right ticket. What she didnt mention is its impossible to get another ticket once you get trapped in the station. They don't have ticket machines, attendants or security. If you end up in this situation, the only way out is through the handicapped exit. Me and my parents got trapped in the Paris metro for about an hour because we had the wrong ticket. I just this spares someone the headache.

I was born in Paris and I love this city but i'm much more happy now because I live in countryside. Paris is beautiful and there is lot of amazing things to see but Parisians are so unkind, it's such a shame... I'm sorry for this accidents and I can't wait for the rest of the vlog! ahhhh. my boyfriend and I had a similar experience in Paris while using the bathroom at a restaurant we were at. My boyfriend used the bathroom in the restaurant and our server just started yelling at us in French (we don't speak French) and was saying RUDE RUDE RUDE in English and we were so confused as to what we did wrong. It was SO AWKWARD because we were at a restaurant. I eventually just put money on the table for what we ordered and walked out and the server FOLLOWED us yelling in French. we still don't know why he yelled at us. haha we kinda laugh about it now but at the time we were so shook up by it.

It makes me so happy and emotional to watch it ! But it’s the best memories of this year 🥰I was happy to see you and roger !

Iceland is awesome and can be really cheap too. Try to get a long layover (iceland is known as layover central and they promote it) to a place in Europe and the cost will be low. I did London, with an 8-hour layover in iceland for about $300 in May. It was amazing! it can be tricky but it's doable and the people are really nice. I did this trip solo, the airport staff, the other travelers I met at the Blue Lagoon were all so sweet. The people in London were also pretty kind and way more chill than Paris, definitely a cool place for you and roger to check out.

This video gives me so many emotions!! I went to Paris for the second time in December 2017 and it was the most magical experience. The whole aesthetic, the food, the small boutiques... Such a weird contrast with what I experienced with the people, too. I had left my toothbrush at home and got a new one in a nightshop close to my hostel. The male owners of the store named me all kinds of things and I made me feel horrible. I also got pickpocketed during my last day! In the freaking Starbucks of all places!! Someone just grabbed my wallet from the counter and ran away. :( So I totally get where you are coming from. I've seen many European cities so far but none of them are quite like Paris. Looking forward to seeing more videos of your travels! ❤️

Normally the bathrooms in the Carrousel du Louvre (where you were) close at the same time as the shops, and when they're open you have to pay 2 euro or something like that to use them. I think that's probably why the man was yelling. It's not at all how it is in the US with bathrooms being open / public for anyone to use. I've only just gotten used to it after living here for a few years. ALSO the photo thing for the metro is so annoying :( it happened to my mom too RIGHT after arriving to Paris from the airport, she hadn't even had the time to find one of the photobooths! Ugh lol

When I was in my 20s I went to Germany twice which I miss so much also traveled to some other places like Rome and Venice and bunch of other places but man nothing beats the feeling.

I was also charged with a ‘violation’ while on the EuroRail in France and the lady showed NO MERCY and was really rude about it even though we had no idea what the rules were. I paid a lot of euros just so they wouldn’t kick us off the train. It was very frustrating! They can be mean and will not give you a break. Ignorance will cost you a lot of $$$. Make sure you know all the rules and follow them. I also went to Spain and Italy on that trip and everyone was much more pleasant and forgiving.

Hi Diana, I’m so happy for you and Roger for going after your dreams. I really think that you didn’t get scammed by the Paris Metro, those who made it hard for you and asked you for more money where actually scammers from the street. Like there are scammers in NY. And they do that for a living and esp choose people who do not speak or understand the language, so it adds to the confusion etc. Anyways I’m so sorry for you, but hope you loved Paris. I lived there for over a year and simply loved it. Au revoir! 💌

I appreciate the honesty in this vlog. Paris gets over romanticized, I believe. Really, it's a big city like many others with good and bad. When I was there 2 years ago, I used the paper metro tickets but stupidly had multiple ones in my pocket and got yelled at when the transit police were doing random checks and I couldn't figure which ticket was my current one fast enough.. Several things about Paris turned me off actually, but I'm giving it another try this summer. I know the magic has to be in there, I just didn't feel it on my first visit

Wow this was eye opening because I've only visited Paris once but it was nearly 11 years ago and it sounds like a lot has changed especially when it comes to the metro system. We didn't have to have a photo card. We just bought our tickets similar to the subway ticket booths in nyc. The only thing that made it challenging was that not every stop had those booths to get the tickets and we couldn't figure it out and didn't until our 2nd day there. Also it was quite hard for us to figure out how to get tickets to go to Versailles. We thought we maybe finally figured it out and asked some people working a booth who thankfully kindly confirmed we did get the right tickets. I also had a belt bag like you and it made me feel my belongings were safe even if it was a pain to always have (I put the strap through my belt loops to make sure it was extra safe). I read about the scammers before going so i kind of had an idea of what to expect and what to look for and avoid. Overall though I heard so many people talk about Parisians not being nice especially to Americans, but I personally was pleasantly surprised how kind people were. I tried to always ask in French if they spoke English which they always appreciated and did my best to order things in French as best I could. I still remember next to Angelina's we had lunch at a restaurant and the waiter was SO nice, funny, and curious about where we were from. We enjoyed him so much we went back there again the next day. I think like any place people will vary so we can't entirely judge a place based on a few bad experiences but it definitely does damper spirits so I'm sorry you had such a mean man yell at you like that. Honestly no matter what or where....men should never yell at a woman. It's disgusting. Seems like I have a lot of reading to do to re-educate myself about Paris before returning hopefully in the next year or 2. If you ever plan to go to Rome feel free to message me and I can give you a recommendation for the cutest B&B literally across the street from the Vatican. The lady is so nice who owns it and they bring you a little breakfast cart each morning and they're just so pleasant and welcoming so if you ever go there....definitely recommend staying there and very affordable as well. And there's no metro in Rome haha :)

I loved Paris, so happy you're getting to experience it :-) It's life changing, idk i cant explain it but you definitely grow inside from traveling internationally and your views on the world and life evolve. The Louvre is HUGE, you need at least 2 days to really see everything. Also, the shopping is great there and everyone was actually really nice contrary to popular belief. I ubered a lot so i didn't take the metro, but I went during fashion week (accidentally). That was amazing to see in person, we even caught a show at the Louvre. I went to Lauderee too for the same reason ;-) Although it may be cold you went at a great time it doesn't seem like there are a lot of tourists around you guys so that's always good. My dad and I really enjoyed our time together there. I hope you all have a great time. I miss paris *tear Next time I'll definitely AirBNB the hotel rooms are tiny lol

Oh my god I'm so sorry all that crap happened to you! Some of them really like to take advantage of tourists, the navigo thing happened to me too, but it was a legit person who told me and my friend that we had to have our photos on, but they let us go and said nothing about a fine! on a lighter note the pictures are always terrible, I still laugh about mine!

Parisians themselves really ruined the experience of Paris for me. I thought Paris was absolutely beautiful and thought the food tasted amazing. I, unfortunately, was pickpocketed on my very last day there, was also scammed by the Metro, and really wasn’t treated very kindly by anyone that I’d encountered. It’s really a shame that they are so unkind to tourists. I’m glad that you otherwise are having a good time! Paris really is breathtaking.

when I was in Paris a couple of months ago, at the ticket booth in the station where we bought the navigo tickets, the man serving us took the photos we had printed out in advance and stuck them on the cards for us - I'm surprised and wondering why they didn't do this for you when you picked up your cards, as it was made very clear to us, both before we left and whilst we were there, that our photos had to be on our cards and there was a fine if they were not

Omg! So sorry for the guy who screaming in the cafè and for your contravention! You know now why french people are always in a bad mood: we have to deal with that kind of people EVERY SINGLE DAY 😅. I was coming out of the Louvre and a guy grabbed my hand and started tying a bracelet to my wrist, and even tho I tried to push him off he kept insisting I should pay him for the bracelet. It was really traumatising, I was 15.

I don't get why people at the Metro did not tell you that you need a picture on your card ?

I went to Europe around 3 months ago and I could go to Paris, I really loved the city, but people weren’t so kind with my boyfriend and I cause we spoke in English and sometimes in Spanish. At the Louvre some guards told me some things in a very bad way that I didn’t get.

not sure if anyone will even see this but another random thing to be on the lookout for in touristy parts of Paris is ANYONE collecting “signatures” or money on the street- don’t even stop to look at them! i once got ambushed by an otherwise harmless group of Romani women outside the Sacré Coeur who asked me to stop to speak with them and then literally surrounded me until I gave them money, in broad daylight in a super busy area!

I have a Friend that went to Paris and people treated her badly 😩 Also, she told me people would insult and yelled to immigrants an that they are so rude to tourists.

Same thing happened to me though I didn't feel scammed b/c I knew about the photo. My step sister who lives there told me about it. We were going to do the photo there but she was like oh we have a copier at home. Well we both forgot and on the 4th day I was stopped. I was annoyed too and tried the whole I didn't know but of course I had to pay. But there was an American couple there and the man was going ape sh**t yelling and carrying on calling them thieves it was ridiculous. This is why Americans have the reputation they do for being so entitled, I was not that mad b/c I knew in advance though I was told by my step sister I don't think they tell you when you buy it, Not sure why you need a photo as you can slip it in and out so does not stop you from letting someone else use your card. But at any rate not worth getting so upset and crying, You just have to roll with it, Trust me there are WAY bigger curve balls life will throw you then to get so upset about something so trivial. The workers were just doing their jobs. But I am from NY so I am use to big cities and red tape. But I too included this my Paris vlog to warn people. I have been to Paris 4 times and never been pick pocketed that happened to me here at home in good old Brooklyn.
