Welcome back. We are still in Baja - continuing our way south down the eastern coast of the peninsula. Finally we are getting into some more remote beach areas. Some consider Bahia de Los Angeles the start of the "real Baja" - whatever that means. Honestly, so far, all of it has felt very Baja to us. We found a free wild camping spot at a desolate beach and spent 2 days here which should kick-start our slow-down mode.
We had a few "incidents" while here in Bahia de Los Angeles. A minor dog bite for Walker. A sting ray poke for Byron. And a stuck va for us. This was real;y our own fault. We have driven in sand many times and now what we have to do... but laziness sometimes clouds our judgment. Maybe we will settle down a bit and the laziness will subside. Multiple airing down the tires and airing back up, we feel, will become a huge part of our days.
Our next stop is Santa Rosaliita on the west coast of Baja. This is a small town that had big dreams of expanding with a big government funded marina that was never completed. Infrastructure started but was never finished so the town has a strange vibe to it that makes it feel a little sad. Now it is primarily local fisherman and a random spattering of surfers stopping in to catch a few waves.
We came here to surf the NOTCH surf break. Still unsure if we found it - but we dod surf a little on a very shallow and beginner friendly wave. If you come here there are plenty of paces to camp for free - but be prepared for a local to ask for $5 to assist you and or take care of your trash. We had no problem paying Mario $5 to show us the way and take care of our group trash the following day.
