I’m heading to Bulgaria in a week and this is making excited about my choice! Thanks for sharing! It’s such a destination that isn’t talked about much!
This is a very charming city, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
That's so interesting with the ruins and the spring water! Haha love it when you sniffed the water I immediately wondered if you were gonna say it smelt like Rotorua's geysers! Funny Carlos had to remind you to mention which country Rotorua is in 😁 Sofie looks like a pretty chill place! Glad it doesn't feel as cold as the temperature is 🙂 always a bonus 👍
Haha yeah! It definitely reminded me of Rotorua! It’s super chill we’re loving it, although it gets cold, during the days seem to be the best time to get about 😅 Thanks for watching Yen ☺️
You guys look so cold - so different to our experience just a few months before! We didn't see the hot spring water fountains at all when there that's pretty cool. We found Sofia really pretty but didn't feel too blown away by it - not sure why really. I like that you tried out the trams- we didn't get a chance.
Haha we were! 😂😆 I would’ve loved to see Sofia in the summertime. Oh interesting, I guess it seems like just another ordinary European city, but living wise it’s very comfortable and affordable. The trams are so cool!I can’t stop admiring them they’re so retro 😅😍.
@@LanaTiare Haha, you are right. Most of them are old because the municipality is focused on expanding the subway network and the modernization of the tram service is lagging. You have caught an example at 6:37.
ahhh hate how theres no tourist info in sofia, the church with the excavation next to nevsky is a 4th century roman church with excavated tombs underneath its sooooooo much coooler than nevsky
i am glad you liked Sofia. I personally dislike Sofia in wintertime. The rest of the year you can enjoy the city more and its numerous green spaces. Nice video.
@@LanaTiare it is way better...more lively, greener, better temperatures...i recommend late spring, early summer. august can be quite hot...and people usually go to the seaside
the name means the holy wisdom of god. the saint sophia cathedral, which is next to Alexander Nevsky is the reason why the citys name changed to sofia in the late middle ages. it is an impressive and ancient building..dating back to 4th c. with impressive mosaics and statues. unfortunately, most visitors overlook it. the eternal fire is in front of it.
Kiwi John Hello & thanks John! Yes, he’s slowly getting less camera shy 😅. I know! It is cold 🥶 I think we have climatized a little now so it’s okay. I still miss the warmth though 😂😅!
you should have visited the oldest standing building in Sofia from 4th c. AD, the St George Rotunda...now a church...it is right behind the Presidency. I also totally recommend the Archeological museum....an amazing Ottoman building...the collection of the museum is also amazing, even though not huge...in summer you can have a coffee in the cafe next to it...close to some ancient stones...some tips for your next visit 😃
Rositsa Petrova Thanks for the tips! We did visit the St George rotunda it was very beautiful, but I can’t film inside. Oh this sounds great, would love to see Sofia in the summer time 🥰. I bet it’s a totally different feel.
i never seen a single blooger show the,st george rotunda...it is an impressive building from the outside...no need to film inside. tell me how many cities have standing structures from the 4th century...not many...
Welcome to Bulgaria! :) I'm glad you like Sofia ^^ but i would really recommend (if you haven't planned already) to go to Plovdiv or some cities near the sea side, cuz they are even more beautiful and traditional! Have fun and congrads on 1000 subs! :)
@@dwartbg1 As a youtuber and travel vlogger myself I can tell you most people will not visit a country just so that they can say they've been there. People would not give their money to visit a country they are not interested in. You don't know what their true feeling of Bulgaria is. They might have liked it or might have not. The point is that they made a good video about it and presented our country in a good way. Instead of being negative and write such comments, be grateful that foreigners like and visit our country. :)
@@YourDana0 Hello Dani, Thank you for writing a kind response to the not so kind message. I deleted his negative reply to my video, I really do appreciate your support! :) P.s We are really enjoying Bulgaria, your country is beautiful and so unique!
Nice video! Love to see videos about my home city. Bulgaria was unsafe only during the WW1 and WW2. Safer than some countries in North-West of the countinent, where unfortunately they have problems with terorists. About the Cyrillic alphabeth - we invented it in 865! Russia didn't exited at that time :)
@@LanaTiare I'm glad you liked it! It's interesting that the Cyrilic alphabet and the Roman alphabet (the one that you gyus use) are created based on the Greek alphabet. So ours and your alphabet have the same root :) I'd love to see more videos about my country from you! If you're planning to travel again to Bulgaria, there are many beautiful places to be visited, excluding Sofia. Have a wonderful day :)
Ivo Petrov Oh how interesting, the Greek alphabet looks cool to learn also. Yes I agree! We hope to come back in summer someday to get a better look at Bulgaria’s smaller towns ☺️.
Keep being real and there will be no person you will not be able to reach...i like australian accent a lot(i am not sure that you are australian it sounds like that)and i try to speak like this, but for the moment just a few words sound autentic, kne of my favourite aussie youtubers is ozzyman reviews....grat guy with rare sense of humor.....godspeed
Sofia looks great, somewhere I would like to go to. What a great idea having free mineral water. Just outside of Whakatane here in New Zealand you can also fill your bottles for free with spring water. Great video!
Real history is unpleasant! You guys are very blessed! A lot of places we travel to the water is not drinkable. The water in Bulgaria tastes so good 😊.
Real history is unpleasant! We are actually in Plovdiv right now. It’s very beautiful and interesting. It still amazes me at how ancient this place is!
A typical mistake of all tourists is that they are tasting the water when still hot. It contains Н2S. To let it go, you have to leave the bottle open until the water cools down and the H2S, which is the cause of the unpleasat smell and taste, is released in gaseous form. Nice video. :)
very close to the mosque and synagogue, there is a catholic church...and of course the sveta nedelya orthodox church ..some people call this the square of tolerance
@@LanaTiare you can...but you have to go to Pancharevo.. just outside Sofias ring road. There is has an outdoor pool, a traditional Turkish bath and a spa...the mineral springs come out at 50 degrees...so the water is warm year-round. the lake is also beautiful.
