I always loved Eva from the first time I heard her sing. I didn't discover her until after her death. A beautiful voice.👍❤️

She was one of the best, gone too soon.... 😍I can not listen to her, without crying, a voice of an angel....now she probably is one. RIP Eva. Thanks guys!

Eva Cassidy was so incredible what a voice and talent. It was such a tragedy and loss to the world when she died of cancer at only 33 years old in 1996, but her music will forever live on. Damn it and damn it again..Every single time and believe me there have so many times that I have heard this. It broke me again.

There's really nothing she can't sing , All of the songs she did were covers starting from the 1950s all the way up until the 90s ! She can sing the hell out of gospel ! I know you need to hear it again, once or twice or more times to really appreciate what you just heard. Vocally, fantastic. Played that guitar and made it talk to us. And her arrangement was literally out-of-this-world. Sadly, she passed away within a year after this recording. After her death when people found out about this recording of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' it became a global sensation and it's popularity soared to 'top of the charts' heights all over the world. Personally, I believe it to be the finest live performance I have ever heard in my life. And when you consider the tragic ending to her life at such a young age (I think 33) how can you not express sympathy toward her singing this song. Listen to the lyrics carefully. Judy Garland made the song famous in 1939 in the movie 'The Wizard Of Oz' and the song will always be hers. BUT, I'm sure Judy will slide over a little and let Eva have a seat right next to her in the place where wonderful singers rest their souls.

The performance you just reacted to was done around January of 1996. She would be diagnosed in the summer of that year with the cancer that would take her life in the late Fall of 1996. This song was performed in Jan. By summer, she discovered her cancer. Gone by Nov, I believe. 😭😭

Thank you for sharing this video. Her love of multiple music genres and her ability to easily transition from one to the next, staying true to the song while making it clearly her own was the trademark of a great singer. She appeared and recorded at Blues Alley in Washington, D.C. toward the end of her life and her live performances were electric. One of my favorites has always been her version of Natural Woman. Powerful. Again thank you for showcasing her and allowing her music to continue to reach and speak to others.

Its amazing to me how much better it is to listen to music with others. Cant imagine the solitude of people who dont want families to share moments like this. Love you guys.

To appreciate Eva, you have to watch "NightLine's" feature on her. It's the most requested film to be repeated ever. After you watch her story, her impact is magnified. Every time I hear her sing, I think "If only------

She passed away later in the same year after this concert was recorded She didn't want this released because she had a bad cold. I'm not sure if she knew she was terminally I'll at the time. She was greatness. Gone way to soon.

I just came across your channel, watched your Simply Red "If You Don't Know Me By Now" reaction. I went to your list of videos and the first 30 or so, I was like, I know that song, I know that song, I know that song, etc. Then I saw this one at the top of the list. This one has broken many a reacter. Her voice is sweet and phenomenal. It's the only live recording of her doing it. She was gone way too young. I'm a huge fan of Wizard of Oz. I saw, a few years ago, the Pentatonix cover of it, called "The Wizard of Ahhhs", and loved it. I also am a HUGE fan of the original, by Judy Garland. Kirsten, from Pentatonix, did a great cover of it as well. But, in my opinion... NOBODY does it like Eva did it. Thank you for reacting to it. I watch a LOT of music reacters on RU-vid, at least a couple dozen or more. You got another sub from me. :)
