Fun fact: Bill Medley, at age 82, is still performing. Bobby Hatfield passed away in 2003, and in 2016 Bill re-formed The Righteous Brothers with Bucky Heard.

The RB were originally part of that ‘hard rock’ that horrified our parents. Here’s another great cut that did not make it onto TV or radio (except in ‘sanitized’ form). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-N6O-fFgl5vE.html We loved them singing rock n roll but it was their ballads that made them nationally famous. I hope you check out more vintage RB such as ‘My Babe’ ‘Just Once in My Life’ ‘American Rock and Roll’ and ‘Rock and Roll Heaven’

This us an old song probably from the Mississippi Delta and written by a black musician. I know Muddy Waters has a record of this song.

I don't think back in the mid 60s they would have filmed this song performed live. The women (and some men) would have absolutely lost their minds. The stage would have been covered in underwear - panties and boxer shorts. This is the kind of song that makes me wish I had a voice like Bill Medley. These guys were like Elvis. They grew up with this kind of music so it wasn't so much a rip off as just them expressing who they were. If you grow up with a certain kind of music, what else are you supposed to sing? My mom introduced me to Motown in the 80s against my dad's objections, and I love this kind of stuff. I wish there was more blues and funk in modern music. Everything is so bland. Even rap now isn't what it used to be. Rap was built on funk.
