Given the two videos you have seen, it is understandable that you might think Austin is 'the' lead singer, but this group has 4 lead singers and a world class beatboxer with a lovely voice who prefers to do harmonies when called upon to sing. But the lead goes to whichever voice they think will fit the song best. HF has over 180 official videos - every genre except metal - so far. Guys Home Free has been together for decades now they all can sing lead but this one Austen Brown the high tenor asked his brothers in the group to get his back and they did ,and this was done during the lockdown. Great reaction guys.

This was done during the pandemic, and the one singing is Austin Brown (high tenor, from Georgia), then there's Rob Lundquist (beard & glasses, tenor, from Minnesota), Tim Foust (bass with a 5 octave range from Texas), Adam Chance (known as Chance, beard, baritone but sings bass when Tim sings lead, from Alabama), and Adam Rupp (beatboxer who rarely sings but has a nice tenor voice, from Minnesota). Any videos before 2016, has Chris Rupp (baritone, brother to the beatboxer, left group in 2016, and replaced by Chance). There's no one particular lead singer. They listen to a song and decide who has the right voice for the lead.
Austin Brown is one of the 3 southerners and song writers in the band (he's from south Georgia). I've always loved the late Percy Sledge's original! Austin's (now) wife Amberly was in the studio (that's who he's looking at). This was filmed during Covid (hence the TV screens). They don't have a lead singer - Home Free is also ego-free; whomsoever sounds best singing lead, does so. BTW, they each have channel(s) of their own.
This was doing the covid lockdown. All the guys in the back round were doing their part in make shift studios in their own homes Austin was in a regular studio with his woman Amberly who is now his wife and he was singing to her. God he loves that woman so much.
Home Free are all talented men. Since they’re a cappella they can all sing and all have great voices. Austin (lead here) and Adam (beatboxer) killed it. This was during Covid so I thought the use of tvs was clever. They have a new one out Christmas in LA where Austin and Adam kill it again. 😍😃
This was done during COVID lock down so the other guys were shown on monitors and not together in the studio. Any one of them can and do sing lead sometimes paring a couple of them together, however they choose who they think will sound best on a particular song. Everyone new Austin was made for this song and encouraged him to sing it like this. And when he is giving those sultry looks with his eyes at the camera; his then fiance now wife Amberly, was standing there just off camera. Great performance of a great classic and a great reaction from you. Looking forward to your next Home Free adventure.
Austin does such an awesome job! His voice is so beautiful, and two reasons for his smile...probably about 95% of the time he smiles, the other 5% is when its a more serious song such as "O Holy Night". The other reason is his girlfriend, (now his wife), Amberly, is standing by the camera.
Of course you noticed this is entirely acapella? Not one instrument, just Adam the beat boxer who can sound like anything. There isn't a set "lead singer" with these guys, it's just who would deal with the song best. The main guy singing here is Austin Brown. He has his own site on-line where he likes to do his favorite oldies. He's wonderful.
Adam Rupp does sing and he has a honey sweet tenor voice. He does aa short solo in the all singing no beat boxing How great thou art, Check it out it is beautiful.
Austin did a fabulous job of this classic song. Loved Percy Sledge's version, but this was taken to another level. I think it is also better than Michael Bolton's version. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. Drummers have often commented on just how realistic his sound is. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.

you know, I barely started watching your reaction so far and somehow I had a feeling you both were going to be incredibly shocked by the start of this cover. Turns out I was right. I loved the way you guys reacted at the very beginning so far since I haven’t finished watching your reaction yet.
Austin Brown, who is doing the lead on this song isn’t the only lead singer. Pretty much all of them have a lead in one song or another and they switch it around. It’s not just one person constantly in the lead or having a solo. For example, they cover of the song Mayday by Cam . In that particular sum, you really get an idea of Tim’s vocal range and he seems to be kind of one of the main leads in that song but of course all of them have solos in that song.

The reason this song is reminiscent of tattooed heart is because Ariana Grande grew up listening to music from the 50s and 60’s and she wanted to record a song as a tribute to the music she grew up with and of course when a man loves a woman is a classic from the 1960s. I absolutely love this version and Austin truly has an amazing voice. .
Never heard of them but dang bro they can sing! That was awesome performance 👏 but the thing between their performance and Percy Sledge was Percy sang it with feeling and it came from his heart. I should also mention when I used to sing in school and such my teachers wanted me to sing tenor, which is the higher male range. That was not comfortable for me I’m more of a baritone. Which is one of the reasons I stopped singing. But yes, my talking voice as well. Also sounds a bit different than my singing voice. I have noticed that though with professional artists.

A similar style song by another group that was in the Sing Off that year Unchained Medley by Voice Play ft John Pinto jr He can really belt out the high notes Although it’s the season and a perfect fit by Voice Play at this time would be Oogie Boogie Song You guys are awesome Keep bringing the acapella awesomeness
Just a suggestion how about playing the song twice when people haven't heard the song we get it all chopped up play it all the way through then play it again and review the second time. Just saying
You're crazy and don't understand music if you believe that. I do like Homefree's A cappella style, but vocal wise, he doesn't even come close...this whole rendition is rather monotone--not much of a streach in vocal range. He also pretty much stole the whole arrangement from Michael Boltons rendition. Austin's voice is nice, but it's best with combined with the high's, lows and midrange that his fellow group members help provide in most songs. Alone it becomes a bit boring for my taste.
