Here is the kicker. According to Bruce. Batman is who he is, the real him. Full of anger, mistrusting of people, obsessed with Justice. Bruce Wayne is this the mask he wear for the world. So when he say, "I'm Batman", he truly means it.
Bruce is still just as important. Not just his fake playboy side. Bruce is still good. It's the part of him that gives batman a soul. Otherwise he becomes a character like failsafe. Where nothing but the mission matters. Depends on the writing. Sometimes batman does go that hard where Batman is so focused on the mission that he loses the point sometimes. That's why it's important for characters like Alfred, Robin etc they help ground batman and keep Bruce human
Kevin Conroy said in an interview that he always thought batman was the real person and Bruce Wayne was the disguise because batman is who he really is.
It bombed because it was made to sell toys and nothing more. Had the studio kept Tim Burton in the director's seat past Batman Returns, it would have been considerably better. We would have gotten a movie version of Nightwing as well.
I consider Batman Begins one of the best origin movies ever.. right up there with Iron Man. And sequel is arguably even better. Looking forward to the next one!
Batman begins is way better than Iron man! It’s not close. The writing in Batman begins, today would be nominated for best adapted screenplay. Back then superhero films got no respect as art! No matter how well-made a superhero movie was. Its was the stigma!
@@isasooner5 superhero films got no respect as art when Iron Man came out, too. It wasn't in some completely diffferent era, it was just 3 years later.
@@isasooner5 Are you attempting to talk someone out of their favorite movie? Can't Iron Man and Batman begins just be enjoyed without the competitive BS? To Each Their Own...live by it!
@@isasooner5 You said a whole bunch of nonesense . If you look at both movies without bias you will realize Ironman 1 was far more mature considering it dealt with terrorism while batman begins was goofy af .
True, but he still used quite a bit of CGI for Bats though. Especially in this one. Like the Arkham scene of him gliding down in the middle of the bats was all CGI.
@@marcusmcgill4423and the temple, the mou tain & ice, the prison, the city skyline, the cave, the city batmobile chase, ... this film was easily half CGI. It's detailed in the DVD/Blu-ray special features.
Most people i think like part 2 the best because its really amazing but Begins has my fave Batsy villain and is crazy re-watchable for me. Seen it countless times and it always hits : )
Since y'all missed the eraof BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES, I personally highly recommend you add the series to your watch list. There are several episodes, as well as the feature film MASK OF THE PHANTASM, that you can clearly see inspired Nolan's story in the Batman trilogy. Literally, an episode where Scarecrow is adding fear toxin to the water supply, as well as a few other key incidents. But, BtAS is legit a series worth delving i to for heavy. Batman lore.
FUN FACT: Christian Bale auditioned to play Robin for Batman Forever. Though he didnt get the role of Batmans boy Wonder, thankfully he got the role of Batman himself
Welcome to the Nolan-Verse! "The Dark Knight" ('08) is the Sequel to this "Batman Begins" ('05), and then "The Dark Knight Rises" completes what is collectively-known as the "Dark Knight Trilogy!" IMHO, these are THE BEST Movies with the Best Batman that there has or ever will be!👍For Your Consideration, I would also Recommend Tim Burton's "Batman" ('89) and its Sequel, "Batman Returns" ('92)!👌
This trilogy is by far my favorite of the films. The Batman with Robert Pattison is excellent as well as it more closely follows the "Detective" aspect of Batman like in the comics.
I wouldn't call Batman a superhero. He rather is a hero, and his heroism is a necessity, while superheroes are mostly coincidental, ambitious or innately superhuman characters. Nolan masterfully works on this distinction with a realistic take throughout the trilogy.
Keep in mind the comment about immortality made by the real Ra's al-Ghul's (Liam Neeson) when he showed up at Bruce's birthday party. Keep it mind for one of the other films. Also, I wanna point out that The Dark Knight Trilogy is very realistic portrayal of Batman, a more down to earth version as opposed to the comic books and Batman's usual portrayal, where it's fantastical.
It wasn't clear whether or not you guys know this: This trilogy is obviously DC, but it is not part of the DCEU. It is its own standalone trilogy, just like the Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield movies were Marvel, but were not part of the MCU (although Spiderman: No Way Home *kind of* retconned them to make them MCU canon). Same thing here. These don't have any impact on any other DC films.
This batman story is alright And I find Robert Pattison ls batman was cool too. Robert's batman is bby batman 😂 batman was originally a 7 year plan to save Gotham
@@tomhardy2099 how? Iron man has many flaws, is more human than bruve wayne. Iron man is more normal. But the way batman is, you would defenetly trust his plan.
@@prico3358 Your talking about Batman in the comics , in the movie he is nothing like that everytime he appears on screen he looks and speaks like a goofball . Also I said Ironman regarding the best superhero not that I would trust him the most .
@@tomhardy2099 100 agree that not batman in the movies. Batman, spiderman, iron man etc are characters that embody every media to make 1 cannon or mythos. So when i say batman, its all of the features of all media that dont contradict or remain constant. But yes, all the movie batmans in isolation make him softer. But Batman per se is the most reliable superhero.
After this triliogy the only other pure Batman live action films i would recommend is the original 1989 film and The Batman (2022 starring Robert Pattinson). Although The Killing Joke is an excellent animated film. You guys will love these movies though!! Not only is Batman well portrayed but all the villains are played by amazing actors who play them realistically and great.
I like the first two Batman movies: "Batman" (1989) and "Batman Returns" (1992). But they're kinda goofy / gothic, whereas this trilogy you've started is more hard core and high tech. So the earlier movies are tonally very different.
Nice! Did you know? Wolfgang Petersen, JJ Abrams, The Wachowskis, M. Night Shyamalan, David Fincher, and Darren Aronofsky were considered for directing the project until Christopher Nolan was picked. Cillian Murphy auditioned for the role of Batman, as he wore the Val Kilmer suit from Batman Forever. Josh Hartnett, Josh Brolin, Joshua Jackson, Heath Ledger, Wes Bentley, Billy Crudup, Hugh Dancy, Jude Law, David Duchovney, Henry Cavill, Eion Bailey, James D'Arcy and Jake Gyllenhaal were considered for the Dark Knight. Daniel Day Lewis and Viggo Mortenson were considered for Ras Al Ghul. Marilyn Manson, Christopher Eccleston, Ewan McGregor and Jeremy Davies were considered for The Scarecrow until Cillian Murphy was picked. Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Rachel McAdams, and Sarah Michelle Gellar were considered for Rachel Dawes until Katie Holmes was picked. Kurt Russell, Chris Cooper, and Dennis Quaid were considered for James Gordon
those directors were considered when WB was still trying to figure out what kind of movie they were going to make. But every project, whether it was a sequel to Batman & Robin, a standalone movie or a reboot, was scrapped. Then Nolan heard about this and proposed his idea for a reinvention of the franchise. About the actors you mentioned, some of them were definitely considered by Nolan, others were Warner’s suggestion or just unconfirmed rumors.
The Greatest Superhero 🐐 and 34:11 this scene is the only thing that I don't like because Batman has IQ like Tony Stark or even more than Stark and also studied almost every sceince subjects so he would have known those and after watching this trilogy also watch The Batman 2022 movie
Hope you will try to watch DCU movies and make your own options. Man of steel, Batman vs Superman Extended version and Zach Snider Justice League especially. Aquaman and Wonder Woman is directed by other producers but still well enough)
Yes, Batman's a dark one. But his Marvel counterpart, Daredevil has the same mentality when it comes to corruption and crime in N.Y's Hell's kitchen And his childhood was worse than Bruce's!). Batman Begins was the box-office rage, critics and us movie fans loved it as much as you guys did! The next one's a lot darker..Heath Ledger's Joker will spook ya, I promise.
If you guys don't know @#$% about batman, I recommend the 1960s Adam West TV series and the 1990s Animated Series. Both amazing products of their time.
His superpowers are compassion, discipline, endurance and psychological tactics with inteligente and some other aspects. Bruce Wayne is just a mask indeed just like Rachel said. His true self is Batman, an incorruptible idea and/or symbol of hope for justice. Also I don't think if he was poor he wouldn't be Batman, at least a different Batman but his morals and what he stands for would still be the same. It's not the money or technology and status. That is Bruce Wayne, everything else is what who he is. Maybe not a hero Gotham needs most of the time but what they deserve. A Dark Knight! Damn, I love Batman hahahaha 🦇
in the comics for Marvel, Spiderman is the Top of all the Characters, for DC is Batman, Nolan give us the best version of Batman, enjoy it, I forget to the word (best) before version, I just add it now, sorry and thanks
This movie is extremely forgettable. If the Dark Knight didn't happen no one would be talking about this movie, it's that simple. Not sure where all the "this is the best one in the trilogy" comments are coming from.
@56:07 -- true! google says there are currently 2,781 billionaires on the planet as i type this, but not a single costumed crime-fighter of any kind. on paper and on film it sounds like a kick, but in real life? absolutely nobody wants the hassle.
The league of Shadows, the original name in the comics was The League of Assassins, Nolan changed the name, because Bruce will never be with them if they're Assassins in the beginning, till he find out they're Assassins
Good reaction to this movie, enen if you've watched the Dark Knight it'll be good for your girl to watch it n then you both can watch the 3rd together. Nolan's trilogy is awesome
Did yall grow up like Amish or something lol? I don’t understand how anyone around y’all’s age hasn’t seen all these movies you react to. Like some I get but yeah was just wondering. Also nothing wrong with being Amish, not looking to offend anyone. Good reaction and I still enjoy the channel.
Could just be their parents didn’t allow them to watch them. I wasn’t allowed to watch any rated R movies until I left home lol. I am a bit older(I think) than them I think but we didn’t have streaming services like we do now. If we didn’t rent a movie, catch it on tv or go see it in theater then I didn’t see the movie. Thankfully I got to see lord of the rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars prequels all in theaters.
@@betteryourlife865 most of there movies aren’t R rated tho. Like Scream and the other horrors for sure I get it. But not a single Marvel movie, hard to buy.
I assume you mean leader or front runner whennyou say captain of DC. And yes it is Batman and Superman. But we pretty much respect Batman the most lol...
I’m a MASSIVE Marvel fan. I have seen every movie in the theater since the first Avengers movie. I live and breathe Marvel. This is probably the best superhero trilogy I’ve ever seen. That says a LOT about this trilogy.
Batman one of tbose heroes that has no powers but if given the choice to fight batman or any other hero with powers most people choose the hero with powers because if they know about batman they know he the one hero thats gonna beat you down worst then any hero, the dark knight trilogy is its own thing and you should finish it before starting dc universe connected movies and watch them by release date order and if am not mistaken it starts with the movie man of steel and when yall finally get to justice league yall should watch the synder cut and skip the theather theatrical release and just a heads up the synder cut is 4 hours long
Batman is the most realistic superhero What make Batman great He experienced trauma like most of us he decided to dedicate his life to fight Crime We all can be Batman But we all can’t be Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, that what make Batman, great
And this is why I've never particularly liked Batman. He's literally "plot armor" the character. He's supposed to be a regular human being, yet he constantly does things normal people can't. And you saying "we can all be batman" is just another contradiction to what the character is. He's like the least-realistic character in the whole universe of fictional characters. At least characters with super powers have an excuse for the things they can do.
@@SlCKNESS_ Well, you won't be here if you don't like Batman. I think it's best to just avoid things you don't like instead of wasting your time and energy.
Before the Chris Nolan reboot, the original Tim Burton Batmans are great. While they are not near as dark as the more recent movies, for the time they were very much darker from what batman had become known for from the 60's TV show.
Next year 20 years wow this movie for better or worse pretty much defined the next generation of cinema 😮 it took super hero comic book movies to the next level but also set the tone of reboots for every franchise to come after
Batman Begins is an almost perfect origin story. It sets up the mythos of Batman superbly. Origin stories are fantastic in general, so if that's your bag, I can easily see an argument being made for this one being the best film in the trilogy. But for a lot of folks, the draw of Batman is getting to see him BE Batman, DOING Batman shit, against his almost equally iconic villains... Dark Knight is the film that did that best: Distilled the character and his comics down to their best parts.
@@EmphaticNod yeah origin stories might be my favorite movies, is why I really like Man of Steel too and the newest Batman as my top movies of all time. Just fyi, Dark Knight is amazing too imo, there was a time when DK was my personal favorite because it was generally darker, just with years I came to appreciate BB more and they kind of exchanged positions :)
The Dark Knight Trilogy is not a part of the DCEU series of movies, they stand as their own 'universe.' The DCEU begins with "Man of Steel" and the Batman character is rebooted to be much older, having performed the duties of Batman for over 20 years when he is introduced.
i wont admit that someone can watch Dark Knight and "not remember storyline" ... it was like only superhero movie in history of cinema to be rated like 9.2/10 on imbd and be included in top 10 film OF ALL TIME.
1000% should react to the Tim Burton Batman movies!! They were soooo good for the time and actually some what still hold up with some great practical effects and sets. Truly captured the comics and cartoons so well. Also PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REACT TO THE MOST RECENT “THE BATMAN” from 2022 it is so f*cking good! It really captures the gritty modern Batman comics and is the first movie to really fully embrace Batman’s detective work with a really fun mystery. Plus The Penguin is Colin Farrell who is absolutely UNRECOGNIZABLE! It is crazy! They are coming out with a tv series on HBO/MAX called The Penguin that is going to be a spin off of that movie. This Nolan trilogy is GREAT also!! Heather Ledger is phenomenal but so is Cillian Murphey as Scarecrow.
You should watch both Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992) you don’t need to watch Batman forever (Val Kilmer was a terrible Bruce Wayne) of Batman and Robin (unless you WANT to see the bat-nipples scene)
Bale is no joke he with the blade handling. Watch “Equilibrium “ of of his very best films. And Sir John Gielgud, is an unreal “butler” in one of the best films not highly reviewed for some odd reason, “Arthur” Dudley Moore Liza Minnelli Absolutely, fantastic. (The sequel, is terrible) Frasier Crane, aka “Frasier” is phenomenal sitcom So there’s a good “Crane”!
Hi and welcome to the Dc Universe ! For your journey, I recommend to, like the MCU, to start from the beginning, starting with the movie Superman (1978), its first sequel (you can forgive the next two). Then, the Batman movies with the two Tim Burton ones and the two Joel Shumacher ones, more decried but.... more fun to watch if you are ready to accept their goofy aspects. You must know it's not a shared continuity, like the MCU. Then i recommand the movie Superman Returns which purpose was to serve as a reboot but unfortunately wasn't succesful enough. Then the two missing movies from The Dark Knigt Trilogy (that one being the first one). And finally those from the DC Extended Universe which try to copy the MCU with Zack Snyder as its main director with Superman/Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, etc.... and of course the Justice League and the Snyder's version Zack Snyder's Justice League (way WAY better then the cinematic release but that's a long story)
As a group, the MCU mythos is far superior to DC's attempts to build a 'Universe'. But the Nolan Trilogy is an exception to that. All three movies are very good, and Heath Ledger's Joker made "The Dark Knight" a serious contender for the best superhero movie ever, at least that I've seen. Also, remember to always BE YOURSELF. Unless you can be Batman. Then be Batman.
The Octobers the thing both of y'all love birds need 2 know about the Joker (The Clown Prince of Crime) not everything's ever as it seems with the Joker, Joker's a lot of things but predictable & stupid usually ain't any of them, being careful/extra careful not going 2 cut it because when dealing with/up against the Joker always expect the unexpected no matter how obvious or absurd/insane/ridiculous and Joker won't have any1 unmasking Bats as well as making fun of his Jokes (Joker) any1 that/who attempts any of the 2 will either end up dead or suffer a fate much worse than death plus Joker's 1 heck of a Voice Impersonator/Master of Disguises!
Just gonna point out, this is the first time I’ve realized this after seeing this movie dozens of times. & I only realize bc I’ve been watching disaster videos for months while at work, including cave disasters. That cave bruce is in? Is HUGE but still extremely dangerous, I could give you a dozen scenarios where things go wrong down there. But a cavern so large? Likely you’ll be fine unless part of it or the entire thing just decides to collapse on you. That likely won’t happen for another 1-1,000,000 years from now, pretty unlikely it happens in Bruce’s lifetime
I'm a lifelong Marvel comic guy and this is hands down, the best comic book adaptation trilogy ever. And the next movie, is the single greatest comic book based movie of all time. Nice.
If you're wondering who's the "head" or leader of the DC Universe, it's a real toss up between Superman and Batman. Even though Batman has a lot less "power" when it comes to super powers, he still holds a LOT of sway and influence in the DC Universe. I would highly recommend watching Man of Steel with Henry Cavill if you want to watch some other DC stuff. Also Shazam is so so funny (good movie) and Wonder Woman is also an awesome superhero movie, probably one of the best superhero movies out there. Justice League was super super rushed and not a very well made movie; it got a lot of flack when it first came out (I definitely agree - just not a very good movie overall - a lot of things weren't thought through and the bad guy is pretty forgettable.) Maybe leave that one until last, lol.
"that guy who can't hang on to his daughter"...hilarious. See him in his element: "Rob Roy" 1995 - a very good historical biographical adventure drama film
So, this isn't connected with the current DC Cinematic Universe. The Nolan trilogy is its own, independent thing. Honestly, I really love these movies - all three of them. As for the DC universe, the core three characters are seen as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, representing Justice, Hope, and Truth respectively. Batman _really_ isn't Cap, and neither really are any of the other heroes from DC. Superman is maybe the closest, but Cap (for me) has the energy of never giving up despite the odds. For Superman... he's basically invulnerable.
Yes, Scarecrow is played by Cillian Murphy, who also played Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders and just won the Best Actor Oscar for Oppenheimer. Fantastic actor who is from my home town of Cork City.
I love you guys are entering the DC World, great Trilogy!!! I do have a question though, how come you did not start with Tim Burtons Version? They are Classics especially Michele Pfeifer S Catwoman. But keep up the entertaining us!!
Batman isn't the "captain" of DC, he's part of what's known as The Trinity of DC Comics(the other two being Superman and Wonder Woman). Michael Cane is agruably the best Alfred in the movies. Bruce didn't actually know what he was going to call himself or what his symbol would be. That changed while he was reading in his study one night and a bat crashed through the window, inspiring him.
