Loved this! It took me waaaay back to when our daughter was three months old and we made our first trip to “camp” (aka cottage/cabin, what have you) with her in March. We live in northwestern Ontario, and we headed almost three hours north. When we had our daughter, I assured my partner that babies are portable. What I failed to tell him is that there would be about 100 lbs of baby gear and supplies to accompany her. 😊 Fun times, indeed.
This brings back so many memories: The car packed to the brim, the uneasiness of bringing a newborn to a restaurant/public place, getting back a different version of our former travellers life. A child should be an occasion to venture into the world not an excuse not to. Hope the trailer renovation gets easier and lead to many more adventures for you three! P.s. Being a parent and a minimalist is indeed quite the struggle!
Frankie is adorable! You are both doing great with the beginning of the parenting journey. I am looking forward to the travels with the 3 of you together.
You mean with baby wearing in some way? That is bound to keep your baby much more calm than being in a car seat alone for some babies. I say this just because my girl when she was a newborn was very fussy on even the shortest car ride, I couldn’t have imagined traveling with her as a newborn. Of course everyone’s baby is different. I hope our second baby coming in May will be more chill in the car.
Also. That mushroom mug 🤤🥰 Leah, you'll have to check out the new potter featured at The Crafter's Market in 100 Mile House whenever you guys make the trek!!!
I am so glad to see Frankie so big! I just had a newborn 1 week ago. He came out small due to growth restriction. He is tiny but so cute and I love him so much. I thought you guys bought an apartment in Victoria. I might be wrong. Happy to see you all enjoy your trip
I cackled at the "we used to make minimalism content" comment 😂 Also even though i live in Victoria, it's so nice to see it through someone else's eyes. Makes me appreciate the beauty of this city again
You guys are the best. I'm glad that you got a needed well deserved break. I miss you when you are not here but that is a good thing for you and clearly us viewers. Getting colds is no fun, some nutrition aid supplements I find helpful, are Zinc, Vitamin C , and Echinacea, there are tons more, you probably know all of this, but distant grandpa has to give his two cents. You can imagine how it is.
It's amazing how mannnnyyy things such a tiny person requires! As someone who just did a 12 hour road trip with a baby and a 5 year old, I feel for you!
Love your Christmas tree🎄! Since moving to Colorado, I go into the mountains and cut down a tree which needs to be removed for forest management. There is a spiritual nonprofit that invites people to their land to cut Christmas trees for donations… creative fire management & fundraiser combo. Did anyone else catch the ape/gorilla 🦍 sticker on the RV?! Also, how will you approach raising Frankie in terms of religion/spiritual journey? I’m curious what you think about that aspect of life. Love how your families support you both & Frankie and all of your plans/adventures. You are really lucky. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁 Thanks for your online presence. It is a gift!
Congrats on your first road trip with Frankie! ❤️ I did want to mention to look into the safety of adding after market items to the car seat, especially anything that goes between the baby and the carseat. 💕
Pfttt you guys killed it. It’s funny- I’ve done a lot of renovations with my partner and your van seems so doable to me even in your last video where you were somewhat in a low spot. The traveling with a baby on the other hand was so overwhelming for me at three months! I’m better at it now for sure. Can’t wait to see how good you guys get at it so I can steal some tips
Been a follower since you guys lived in Victoria! Now I go to UVIC and hoping to take a course by Leah! it conflicts with my schedule this year but I am hoping to get into it next year!
Couldn’t the travel bassinet work as something to put some of his stuff in for traveling? Like his diapers/clothes or something like that could go in there and then go straight in the car without having to break it down to pack in the car?
Halfway through the video I wanted to ask how you balance being wary of taking Frankie out and about (because of germs and respiratory virus season etc) vs not staying too isolated, and then you kind of answered it at the end! I gave birth to my kiddo at the start of the pandemic so that first year was mostly in lockdowns, and so my brain kind of breaks when I see parents with newborns eating at restaurants, etc! Both because I’m like, “oh no, what if you all catch something?” And also because it’s like something I lost/didn’t get to experience with a little baby, and it makes me feel a little sad. I hope you all feel better soon! (For context, I’m swimming in preschool germs right now and if I make it to January without getting sick I’ll be pleased, lol.) I’ll also say, a compromise between parenting more independently and inter-generational living is always choosing to live close-by the grandparents. Mine were minutes away and it afforded us privacy and autonomy but also lots of help when needed.
Thanks for the comment here! I think a close-by option is what we'll settle with eventually but it's fun to know that we can make it work this way too!
I remember just leaning over that car seat so uncomfortably and feeding my baby as we drove. I think every mom who takes their baby on long car rides soon gets the hang of it!
Babies and minimalism don’t really go hand in hand. 😂once he is older it will be easier to travel. Definitely more challenging with an infant. Victoria is a beautiful city. Frankie is an adorable little boy.
You know you’re going to need to keep the Prius for at least 20 more years to embarrass him in front of friends and dates when you tell them that this is where he was conceived & the funny things he’d do in it! Assumes driving an ICE vehicle won’t be faux pas by then😉
@@aayotechnology it was a non-alcoholic beer and a small glass of wine (which I fell asleep before drinking any of it) but yes, as Rachelle said, it's fine to have the occasional drink while breastfeeding!
If you mean being in the car, yes they absolutely have to stop. Baby needs to be in a car seat the entire time you’re in a moving vehicle. If you get in an accident, and you’re holding something, the weight of that object is multiplied exponentially by the speed of the car. You can’t hold on to it. And since she’s breastfeeding and not bottle feeding, she needs to take him out of the car seat. If you say “well we all did it 50 years ago and we’re fine,” that’s survivorship bias. You don’t hear from the people who did not survive because they’re no longer here to tell their stories.
I don't want to be a negative party pooper... but having all these loose items in the car is quite dangerous.... for you but also for the baby..... when you have to brake all of a sudden or when something else happens these items fly through the cabin of your car... hitting the people inside the car with all consequences.... but it can also get underneath the brake pedal ...
Your thumbnail looks like you’re asking if Frankie is a mistake. It’s fine with the title of the video but a screenshot of just the thumbnail wouldn’t be nice years down the road.
Why are you watching if you find it so boring? There's lots of content out there, go find something you like instead of leaving useless negative comments.
