Day 1 (15/12/23):
We began our adventure in Wattenscheid, visiting Schley Garden Centre before catching a train to Dortmund. The highlight of our day was the Dortmund Christmas Market, where we marvelled at the world's largest Christmas tree and indulged in chimney cake, evoking memories of Budapest. Our day wrapped up warmly at my grandma's house, where we gifted her a traditional lebkuchen Herz, bringing joy and nostalgia to the evening.
Day 2 (16/12/23):
The day started with laughter as Debbie and my grandma tackled making sugared almonds, ending up a bit charred but memorable nonetheless. We sang along to festive tunes on the drive to Rewe, setting the tone for our trip to Münster's Christmas Market. The market's vibrant atmosphere was captured through our explorations of quirky toy stalls and a cosy café break, finishing with a family dinner featuring grieß pudding from Rewe.
Day 3 (17/12/23):
Our final day in Germany was heartfelt. Debbie's morning dance set a joyful tone, although tinged with the sadness of impending farewells. We revisited my childhood haunt, Saloniki Grill, for a taste of nostalgia with the beloved Taxi Teller. The departure was tearful, with emotional farewells at Düsseldorf airport as we parted ways with my grandma, marking a poignant end to our visit.
