Please stop worrying about whether "its ok to say this" or "im going to get hate in the comments"! Too many people are scared to be their authentic selves and you two are hilarious, genuine and warm. Your banter makes the videos so watchable ❤ I've been binging whilst on maternity leave!
So from a lad of 75, raised in Lowestoft and now living in Golcar outside Huddersfield West Yorkshire for last 21 years, I have to say John your Yorkshire was pretty good. Also John whilst walking in Yorkshire you had short trousers on, our Postman wear theirs most of the year. Outstanding video, great drone filming. I sat with me Yorkshire Tea Cuppa laughing at you and Jess who’s a brilliant Lass, the chemistry between you two is awesome. Agree with you, there should have been a sign up where you parked. Look forward to the next adventure. ❤️💙xx
We started with you doing your sainsburys van, so we went back to the start to see the rest of your videos. Good to see you in our neck of the woods at Ripley! Would be absolutely epic to meet you both, you'll have to sort out a gathering! Keep being you guys
The reason there won’t be a sign as you were probably in the national park, which are very strict on things like that. Problem is not just you but they have a lot of people doing that and unfortunately not everyone is as respectful as you and causes damage. Also can’t believe you drove through hawes without stopping at the world famous Wensleydale creamery! Well worth it.
It’s so sad when the few ruin it for the many isn’t it 💙 don’t worry I wasn’t missing that!! We went on the way back and I ate my body weight in beautiful cheese!!
What a brilliant series. I binge-watched the Sainsburys van build earlier, and now I’ve binge-watched this build. Epic job you’ve made of that Land Rover. It’s 3:05am now, so I’m going to bed and I’ll start again tomorrow 😂
There is a small old fashion railway station, looks straight out of the 60s that overlooks that viaduct,. You are allowed to stop overnight in the overflow car park. Spent a night there last year. Only 2 trains the whole time we were there and the views were epic
Really enjoying your shows, catching up on previous episodes. I live between Croatia and Kenya and spend large amounts of time working in the East African bush. In Croatia I drive what in Kenya is considered a 'toy': a LR Freelander 2. Note however that Land Rovers are not viewed seriously as off-roaders in East Africa, and as the saying goes, if you need to get somewhere, use a Land Cruiser, whereas a Land Rover is a hobby! 😂 Seriously though, if you do get to travel to East Africa, let me know.
Thanks so much, it’s definitely on our bucket list 💙 our favourite Landrover/ Land Cruiser quote is an Aussie one: if you want to go to the outback, take a Land Rover, if you want to come back take a Land Cruiser 😂😂😂 to be fair ours has done us proud but you can’t beat a troupe!
West burton lovely village near the falls and has its got its own waterfall and great pub and butchers .use to be a campsite near by called westholme think its just dose lodges now but use to have a field next to a river stayed a few times when doing the bridalways in my land cruiser and you could Could fish for trout it was a beautiful place to camp next to the river
many years ago you could drive to the viaduct, I have a picture of one of my cars taken under the viaduct, truly beautiful part of England. one point though the longest brick viaduct in UK is the Harringworth/Welland (Rutland) viaduct at 1.166km and 82 spans, Ribblehead only 400m long. love the Defender setup :)
Absolutely loved your video, the cinematography is beautiful, and you both had me smiling/laughing from start to finish. Your both real characters so I can’t wait for the next video. Cheers both.
It never fails to amaze me how you seem to be able to park up just about anywhere in the UK for the night and not even have to be certified self contained. Not so easy here in NZ any more sadly. Love your vids BTW
Thanks 😊 To be honest it’s allot harder in the uk now too, I was amazed how hard it was in oz too in places, some places in Europe are still brilliant tho 👍
Always good for a great time watching your videos . Awsome land rovers show and countryside drive and views . Cheers you two joust a great bloody show yes . 😆loved the ending . And thanks again for sharing your wonderfully fun videos with us all your over landing friends . From Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) :) 🍻👍🏼😁
never seen a jeep fitted out as an overlander ...only as rock crawlers. Andrew St.Pierre White once summed it up perfectly. If you want a weekend off roading, buy a jeep. If you want to overland the world, buy a landrover.
I love the crack that the two of you have - very entertaining - keep it coming - and yes I really loved your Landy build. It has given me some really good ideas to do when I convert mine . Looking forward to your next episode 😊
If there’s one thing this video proves, we all have regions in our respective countries where we like to poke fun at the accents and dialects of others.
We don't say eh up duck get downt road lad we used to camp in appletreewick and go to Burnsall and Bolton Abbey xx great set ups keep having fun great xx
Hi you two, I agree the English summer days are wonderful but there is not enough of them😴 Love the land rover you guys have made a great job of it well done. Five quid that’s good isn’t it? And at least you can go back there now if you won’t🥴 I think he needs taking in hand Jess just tell John that is that you are the star here and ask him if you can have some of whatever he’s on 😵💫😵💫. Thanks for another great show as I am working back through the oldies 🤗🤗 Take care Jon🇦🇺🇬🇧
Just started following you this vid was awesome. I have a new fave RU-vid channel your chemistry editing and build skills are top tier awesome work guys also can't wait to see more of the Sainsbury's van build 😊
20:58 For those of you who recognise this view and are still determining where from, it's the scene from the movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, where Robin fights with Little John! Cracking video - thank you for sharing your weekend!
Glad to see you both on the road again! Your humor is always the best when traveling. The Land Rover show was interesting - your Landy was probably the most decked out. Loved the beautiful rolling hills of Yorkshire - except for the "knock".
Thanks Judith, Yorkshire is truly beautiful hey, we are always looking to travel to other countries but we forget how nice things are on our own doorstep 😁
Great content guys, love your humour. I used to own a Morgan sportscar and at shows you would always get the weirdos in socks and sandals looking over the car, harassing me when it was parked up!
My last camp in the Flinders Ranges I got the knock although it was after sunrise but I was pretty annoyed as I was only just off the road. Turned out bloody city yobos had been messing things up and eventually I was given permission to stay as long as it didn’t look like I was camping… not like the old days. That viaduct was amazing , let’s see them build something like that these days! Hey Jess, how about a grated cheese sandwich for him but use soap instead 😀
Hmmmm…. Allegro, I will defo be saving this idea for later 😂😂 10/10! It’s definitely the minority that ruin it for the rest of us littering and being feral! Glad they let you stay. It’s beautiful isn’t it! I get that feeling all the time, how on earth they built the things they did with the machinery they had, and yet we build something nowadays and it’s knackered in 10 years!
Hi guys, another great vid 😁 it was lovely to meet you and chat at the show and glad you enjoyed it 😎 but OMG it was very hot 🥵 and im not use to that heat anymore living up in oban 🏴 lol.defo agree not to pay that bloke for so many reason's 😊 👍 but we dont get that kind of thing up here 😁.great banter and team work from you both and love it 🥰 .thanks again folks and looking forward the the next one ❤
Thanks Keith, was a beautiful weekend hey, it was our first time camping at a show and if everyone was like that it would be brilliant, although I highly doubt it with our weather, looking forward to getting up to your neck of the woods and thanks for the banter at the show, it’s what it’s all about 💙
@@truebluetravellers hi and thanks for the reply and dont forget if you do get to my area and need somewhere to park up then give me a shout and your very welcome 😊 enjoy your adventure's 😎
Hi guys, you are a match made in heaven, lovely couple, Jess you are a saint😁 watching all out of sequence, loved your Q and A, admire your attitude to life. Looking forward to finishing the box van build, and your Africa travels, just love you guys❤❤🤗🤗
I've only just come by your channel recently, starting with the Sainsbury's van build and then the Arctic trip - which was awesome! I'm now wondering whether I could throw some winter tyres on my Transporter and go up there myself, or whether I need a fresh (veg) build. About the bloke's land, I would've paid him. Every inch of land in England is owned by someone. There are no wild camp rights, like there are in Scotland. You're not allowed to camp anywhere, unless you have explicit permission from the landowner. So there's no need to put signs up saying "No Camping", because that's the default setting. Like you said, a good compromise would be an honesty box. He can have a little side-hustle that helps look after the land, and people get to wake up to those gorgeous views. Anyway, can't wait for the next adventure!
Thanks very much. People do it in every kind of vehicle we just built this one specifically to do it because we like the challenge and wanted to build the best thing we could. Was an incredible experience highly recommend it 💙
I've loved this series too & looking forward to you going to Africa in it. How was it to drive with all the modifications and did you get lots of great reviews at the land rover show when you went? Thanks for the laughs, you two are a breath of fresh air.
Thanks Mindy, yes we had quite allot of lovely comments so that was nice, it driver really nice to be honest, well as nice as it can for a defender anyway, they aren’t the most comfortable vehicle to begin with but they will get pretty much anywhere, looking forward to going away in it soon 😁
Just started watching your vlogs from the beginning and this one has really made me laugh, as I’m a Yorkshire lass, growing up in and around Northallerton and found your accents so funny. My grandparents farmed up there, close to Semerwater near Hawes and Leyburn. But I do have to pull you up over one point, it’s not Tetley Tea………..it has to be YORKSHIRE TEA. Dawn x
One thing I thought you might have sussed by now Arthur with Jess’ eating habits. She an Aussie mate and 8 hours in front. You might be on breakfast but she’s on lunch/dinner 😂🤣. Great vid again guys. See you on the next one 👍🏻👏🏻😂
😂😂 PMSL I don’t know which bit of this comment is the funniest 😂 problem is one minute she’s on Aussie time the next UK, just depends what best suits her weird sleeping and eating habits 😂
"i want a fiver" that is absolutely typical, as soon as i saw where you parked that night, i thought......they will be getting the old knock in the morning
It’s a shame isn’t it. In hindsight it probably wasn’t the best spot to stop the night but was obviously a regularly used parking place and we got there late and were tired so thought it’d be alright. Apparently not! First time we’ve had the knock in the UK actually.
Only discovered your channel a few weeks ago via the Sainsbury's build. Why mot have a go at a Toylander? I know it's not your main channel vision but with your ingenuity you could build something fantastic!
Cheers mate much appreciated , I would love to build a toy lander, I’d love to build a one off camper too, something totally different to others, one day 👍
loving the videos,, re the Knock on the Window.. I have always asked for a recipe first, while hiking , said that it is a work based team building type event and need to put all expenses through the books.. I have generally found farmers don't like doing this.
Looked amazing place for a show ❤ Your both amazing 😊 I would of been the same as you over the guy knocking 😊 I was there last September at the Ribblehead Viaduct😊 ❤
You are a funny couple. Although my English is good, but your slang is sometimes difficult for me to understand. I can agree 100% with the point about the English landscape. Last year I spent three months traveling all over England and Scotland in a camper and was very fascinated by the country and its people. And the food was better than its reputation too. Greetings from Germany and maybe we'll meet on the street.
Thanks very much, sorry it doesn’t help really that Jess is Australian and I’ve lived all over so picked up accents and slang words from all over 😂🤦♂️👍
Omg 😂😂😂so much content in one video 👍 so many stunning places to visit, but i forget them straight after you've said where you're toi 🙄🤣 oh my goodness those Yorkshire accents were so funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm with you on the parking / paying thing - if he doesn't want people camping, stick up a sign, if he wants to charge, stick up a sign. You would have asked him for his VAT number, so that you could claim it back 🙂
As a Yorkshire woman I’m offended by when in Yorkshire have Tetley tea you can only drink Yorkshire Tea in Yorkshire 🤣🤣🤣 great video tho loads more to see in Yorkshire give me a shout if ever your back this way
😂😂😂 I realised my unforgivable error when I was editing this video and knew I was in for it! 😂😂 thanks very much. We know we only just scratched the surface!
@@truebluetravellers definitely you missed some amazing greenlanes too nice and open ones no scratchy trees , also Wensleydale creamery :) cheese that’s not just on Wallace and gromit 🤣
@@yorkshiregirls4x4 Will definitely have to come back, but dont worry we stopped at the creamery on our way home and I ate my body weight in cheese 😂😂😂
Great video guys. Handover show looked very good and makes a change for it to be reasonably priced too👍 How can someone be so stroppy about parking on his land and then ask for only £5 🤣😂 Really enjoying catching up with what you have been doing👏😀
Saw you there but you were chatting to another fan ...So I thought I would give you a chance to enjoy the show and bump into you guys later on ...... then didn't come across you again ! 🙄. And I was rummaging through that tray of hole saws too ! 😆
Oh that’s a shame, we would have loved to have met you. Hopefully we’ll be in the same place again! Don’t encourage him Kizzy 😂🤦♀️ every time I blink he’s trying to convince me he needs a new tool for this or that 😂
We’d love to visit Japan!! Hope you’re having an amazing time! I could defo do a curry! 😂 Although I’m sure there’s things I couldn’t face, I definitely couldn’t do fish and lots of other things!
ay up me duck..Staffordshire al reet..Tyneside ay up/ ay tell thee...Yorkshire bootifull... Norfolk me and are kid al batter ya...Lancashire i think, could be wrong tho😉
How many Broke down on the way? Having owned on of there Products and being an Ex Squaddie I have had a good few break downs in one. Still Love a Proper Landy, Since they stopped producing them and the release of the thing that they call a Defender the prices have just gone through the roof.
🤣 we saw a few recovery trucks coming through the gates to be fair😂 probably just limped it to the show to get on the pop and worry about fixing it later, oh yes prices are ridiculous now but to be fair everything seems to be that way lately
@@truebluetravellers My Motorhome came home on the back of a Tow truck at the weekend. I think I might have to replace the Mercedes badge on the bonnet with a Land Rover badge as it either breaks down or goes into limo mode, on all long trips. Your Over Lander Build is looking like it would be a more reliable option. Plus would be able to access places where or Aclass Motorhome simply can't due to size and lack of off road ability .
@@Simon_W74 😂😂😂 oh dear, Mercedes too ! Im shocked to be honest, normally good motors, that’s the thing with campers I want a big motorhome for the space but a small camper for mpg but a defender for the size and 4x4, one day im gonna build one that ticks all the boxes
@@truebluetravellers Good old Sprintshift Gearbox decided to make it become a dead weight. Was running beautifully on the way back to Norfolk, until we stopped at the petrol garage on the A14 and started to breakdown there, Limp mode to then locking in top gear to then having to be pushed in a space on the A11. Now it is sat in our Lay by rather than our drive as there is no way I can push it into my drive. We are just waiting on my Local garage to find the adaptor for his code reader to see what has gone wrong and take it from there. On Mull this Summer we had a very nice 4X4 Sprinter Conversion park up next to us. It did make me thing about doing my own conversion. As that is what I was going to do before we bought the Motorhome. Still might get round to building my own on day.
@@Simon_W74 bloody hell sounds like you’ve had a mare, yeah id like a 4x4 sprinter, but also a Mitsubishi fuso/canter 4x4 or an Isuzu nps 4x4 maybe 🤔, hope you get the motorhome sorted 👍
Just stumbled across your page and I've been glued to the screen for the whole Landy build! You're both so funny and work very well together👏 All the clips were very informative regarding materials used and process of the build. One thing that i wanted to ask was, since you're going to Africa and might encounter river crossings or deep water, would the toilet vent with the mesh cover not let in water if the level was higher than the floor? I know it would have to be a bit extreme but it was just a query... Anyhoo, off to watch your Australian adventure👍
Thanks for watching mate, yep your right if we went deep enough it would come in but to be honest I wouldn’t ever go in to that deep of water as to go that deep the water would be above the door seals and I would never trust that they wouldn’t leak water in and ruin the whole thing 👍
😂😂 most of the time to be fair, but we do have some bust ups 😂 So i (Jess) lived in a few different places, lesmurdie, exmouth, toodyay, byford and then me and Jon lived in warnbro before we moved to the uk 😁
“Eyup duck” aint Yorkshire 😂. A Yorkshire accent is the only time when you can say the “c” bomb and nobody thinks it’s bad because your saying “couldn’t” 😂🤣😂. Loving your builds by the way, found your channel by a RU-vid suggestion 👍. Al si thi 😂
I don’t really notice it to be honest mate but I’m not the best person to ask really as I haven’t really driven any before so not really got much to reference it on
Yeah maybe, If he had been civil I think it would of been a lot harder conversation for me to have but the way he banged on our door and demanded money kind of made my decision to start with
@@truebluetravellers yes suppose it cut's both ways they never know who's going to open the van's door I'm a big guy but don't want any bother either ...tbh I bet if it was a rusty ugly old van he'd be happy enough if you left without leaving a mess
can you provide a lesson in English accents? I think I have the USA and Canadian ones down but need help on all the GB and Australian and New Zealand variations. What would you call your accents? If you met me you would say US midwest/St Louis
😂😂 our attempts at accents are diabolical. Jon has a bit of a mixture of an accent because he moved around so much when he was young but it’s closest to a London accent as that’s the longest he lived in a place. I’m Australian from the west coast but have picked up a fair bit of the accent from living over here for the last 10 years 💙 if you ever struggle to tell the difference between Aussie and kiwi accents kiwis say e/u instead of i so where and Aussie would say fish and chips a kiwi would sound like fush and chups 😂😂
Yes mate, we do. I think in some shots it doesn’t look like it as Jess has moved hers to reach something. We might not be the best health and safety channel… welding in flip flops 😂 but we don’t mess about with seat belts!
You were dead right not to pay him, have you thought about how you will protect yourselves in places like Africa, my go-to is a fire extinguisher and a powerful torch, both non-lethal but enough to deter most petty idiots. Sadly its something to consider nowadays.
It’s a good point and a reason we always make sure we can crawl through to the cab in any camper build we make! Jons breath is normally enough to deter anyone but I’ll remember the fire extinguisher trick 😂 we keep it in an easy to reach place!
Don’t need any of that, just be sensible, avoid the obviously dodgy areas, especially at night, use campsites when you want to, and wildcamp away from towns and hidden from the road.
I reckon the landowner gets loads of chavs taking the piss all the time, thought you were just another and has had enough. Then after talking to you realised you were a decent bloke after all. Always two sides to a confrontation. £5, at the end I would have offered it and he probably would have refused after talking to you.
Yeah for him to be the way he was I dare say he must of had some grief, I did say to him we don’t leave any trace and we also clean up rubbish where we can and carry a litter picker too to say thanks to the place we stay,
It would have been better if the “land owner” had asked you to donate £5 to a children’s hospice, he’s getting you to pay for your stay on his land, a worthy charity is better off by £5 and the world is a slightly better place ❤
Definitely, if he would of started by being polite then it would of been hard to say no really even without a charity involved but I suppose from his side he might get loads of people littering etc so is annoyed with it, there’s 2 sides to every story hey
Personally we had many, many people camp overnight and longer for years on our farm. We never ever asked for a Penny and the worst problem was litter but from only a small minority. Now however a quango, the Loch Lomond National Park have taken over thousands of Acres and THEY decided on a No Camping Zone. I have had one run in from a “Ranger” who told me no one could camp here. I decide that not you and that still is the case.
I think you were half prey to the wrong side of those who live in vans and such and travel the country. I hear the 500 in Scotland are absolutely heartily sick of the idiots in vans and motorhomes. The bloke have seen you were genuine though. Leave no trace. something which you clearly abide by.
Grumpy fooker asking for a fiver, don't know him from Adam and could be just some local nutter, but sure offer to pay with chip n pin and request proof of payment, didn't go to the LRO show this year so we're sorry we missed you there.
Cheers Brian, yeah the bloke said he tried to get some money off a couple the day before but they had no cash, only card Loved the show although I think the weather always helps hey, I’m sure if it chucked it down all weekend it might of been a different story tho 😂
WRT Yorkshire and grumpy people, its why I moved away. Its just the way many people are. Normally if you give a little back, without being aggressive, an equilibrium occurs. Besides, that farmer should pay a fortune for trashing the land, overgrazed baron wasteland which is normalised. OK, we do need farming but most of the land up there has been trashed (in terms of what is natural). Edit: Ive just realised Ive become what I despise... lol ;-)
