I have a block for you. It's a 5.4 from an e250, spun bearing. Block is solid. It's still in the van. Y'all will have to pull it. Located in Ocala. We've already pulled the transmission out of the van, literally it's just the engine sitting in the van. If I remember right the van is a 2010, 120,000 miles give or take. We have the facility and tools to pull it. It's just not a priority for us to do so. The van will just be scrapped.
@alanjrkaminski I wouldn't call him an idiot. He goes the most expensive route for everything and fails to take smart first hand comments and recommendations serious.
Cletus Ive got ONE!!!! Not going into it to much. But H-Beam rods crank is 4340 coated pistons ect ect ect LET ME KNOW BUD! Im in Fl right down the road from ya south.
@@CleetusM at least you've got guys like this that are willing to help out. Instead of the trolls that complain about sponsors and think you get paid 80k a month off RU-vid and want to complain about one ad once in awhile. I'm going to show my support and DL the game just for you. Something I don't normally do but I believe no in you so much I'm willing to. Now demo ranch can go suck it. He does make that much and more off RU-vid. I hate when he has ads and sponsors. He is pocketing enough as it is to get buy and more plus pay for his video production. Just an example. Anyway let those bald eagles fly. Keep up the good work. Try not to blow up another motor. Do not put an ls in it. Again. It will never be a sub 9.5 second car. Stick with the drift. You proved you could do it. And you won't stress the motor trying to push 850+ hp out of it.
Thomas Rice made dad use to always tell me this. He had a 929 Honda with a shot of spray on it. The day after it ran its best time at the track he went to spray it during a race and it locked the back tire up at about 70 Mph luckily he thought to pull the clutch. Turns out the 2 cylinders on the right were sucking all the nitrous starving the two left cylinders. Idk who hooked his nitrous up but they did a horrible job. That bitch was moving though before she blew.
@@MrDavidelliottjr yea but it didnt blow from being pushed too hard on it's own. It blew from a damn near 200 dry shot sketchily through the pull so it didn't show what it's capable as on blower only
Feel free to do more sponsored spots! I'm absolutely sure everyone will understand! Adds are a great way to get some additional revenue whether it is directly to your pockets or future projects. Either way I'll gladly watch some more and I'm sure so will everyone else! :P
if they can't understand then fuck'em. everybody thinks youtube is fun and games but it costs money to run a youtube channel especially one like this. l can understand not donating out of your pocket, but using ad blockers and complaining about sponsor spots is a whole new level of selfish. some people want you to be entertaining and they expect you to do it for free. those people make me sick.
Honestly it probably ruined a head gasket, that's it. Nothing blew during the pull. Hydraulic pressure upon attempted startup is what destroyed it, which is the same thing that would destroy any engine.
At least you got the 1,xxx HP license plate cover. I guess you can attach it to the new paperweight. Can’t wait to hear it’s replacement! Love this channel.
JD JoyrideTV Yea L&M wants 30k for a complete engine and 18k for a short block lol but anyways it would be awesome to get up sometime when you're in the Richmond/Chester area....I thought you was going to turn the gt500 into a drag car then you turn around and go in the complete opposite direction lol I watch your channel as well I think it's cool when I find youtubers from VA got to represent lol
Probably yes. I saw few months ago on couple of forums that these engines (stock) are safe below 850hp, not sure if it is correct i'm more into 4,5,6 cylinders.
I used to race BBC 427 10 Sec. Wheel standing 68 Camaro for 10 years. One thing I did was take the spark plugs out after every race event and put in some plugs for just starting the motor to warm up. Before any race event the engine was compression tested each cylinder had to be within 3 percent of the last test or it would have a leak down test to see what happened. That process saved me thousands by finding bent valves, valve spring breakage, head gaskets, and piston ring problems before detonating the motor. When I was done my racing days I still was able to sell the engine for $5k. Ten years of living at 5500 to 7200 rpm... I think that engine loved it.😎
@@jman71890 you have never raced a day in your life have you .... go get on your BMX and ride around the race track looking at every ones hard work to get in the staging lanes.
Power didn't do nothing. The tune and wrong spark plug heat range more than likely damaged the head gasket. 22psi + 150hp shot takes a different tuneup
I posted the comment before watching the entire video (my bad). But my comment shouldn't be misinterpreted. I never meant to imply that the engine isn't good. That thing was ripping! Drifts, burnouts, dyno pulls, quarter mile passes etc. Great motor. Sad to see it's broken now. But Cleetus will definitely bring her back even stronger!
@@boosted2813 I dont know how far down the page I went before coming to this reply, but...yeah...beat me to it. And if you did it with an LS, the same thing would happen.
Agreed Cleetus, your channel is the only channel I wouldn't complain about having commercials.. shit put a hashtag with a number 1 in the title so we can know the deal ahead of time everyone can click like and download anything you need as a show of support for you famo.. that's what family is all about.
Ben Shovgan you didn’t think that through did ya bud? Air/fuels were on point for the pulls, holleyefi won’t allow it to step far out of line at all, if it were really a restriction it’d run rich instead of lean, which is safer, plus they did the nitrous pull without the filter or elbow on it and that pull likely started the cycle of its untimely death, 1087? I believe lol whp plus the 17 ish percent lost in the driveline equals about 1275 crank hp, about 425 more hp than you really wanna make on a stock gt500 bottom end lol
1000% this! It happens all the time, having pistons break in two due to ugly air filters!! As Steve says above, we did try to warn the guy... Let this be a lesson to all the car noobs out there so it never happens again xD
The 5.4 is good for 850 crank at the max for it to be reliable, they need after market forged rods to hold up to more. The stock rods are powered forged like the LSA which aren’t that strong and a weak point. Look up MMR engines they have some nasty ford engines up to 3,000 hp builds.
@@cssbarry Not true dude, dont spout incorrect info. Those gt500 rods are 4140 steel. 4340 is much stronger. The increased stroke of the 5.4 over the 4.6 (both 3.55 bore) puts MORE strain on the rod at equal RPM. Normally a 4340 can handle 800 to 1000 whp, depending. But the general consensus on the safe limit of the 4140 gt500 rod is 600wheel and 6000 rpm. Not to mention a SC is more strain at the same HP because of the parasitic drain. They went SO far beyond this, I KNEW it would happen
@ Adventures What would be the point? they have proven through stock manifolds 900 rwhp can be made, and damn near 1200 on spray. Unless you are getting an extra 150 hp from those headers it is not cost effective.
You could go 5.8L from the 13-14 GT500 and send it?! Oliver rods and a good crank, a nice piston and send it. Also cooling system! Important! Wish you guys the best!
All these go with a LS comments, like a LS won’t hydrolock or even break. This production engine did damn good for the abuse it was given! A few videos back, Leroy had gotten a new engine also. No matter the brand name, they all break!
Could the damage have started with the original blown head gasket? It pumped antifreeze then. Was the cylinder that failed this time the same one where the head gasket blew last time? If so, it may have hydro locked before and cracked a ring landing or bent a rod, but then survived multiple runs, then KABOOM!
First time I've ever downloaded a game advertised on a video, just to support my favourite channel! Didn't play it, of course, but I hope it helps pay for a new heart for Neighbour. Also, need a 'get the bottle!' t-shirt!
And that Nitrous shot could have lifted the head just enough to pull the water through, and as you said, the cylinder was hydolocked and when you cranked it, boom. These motors can be bullet proof and reliable, but they don't like sudden shots which includes 2 steps, over heating, which is the number 1 killer after 2 steps, and knock or running lean. But I'm willing to bet that head gasket didn't like that Nitrous shot or you over heated the engine by still running that Vic radiator. 5.4 TiVC motors really need consistent water temps or you will never have reliability. And now that I think about it, a hard hit that would have heat soaked it, then shutting it off before it can dissipate the heat can cause the head gaskets to leak from rapid temp changes from different components inconsistently from a hard Dyno hit then shutting it down without letting it balance out and cool. Coyotes and the flavors of TiVC's, always let them come down after a hard hit, then let them idle, then cool. And always run the best radiator possible. Do so and you can run 1,000+hp run after run with no wear season after season.
@bobwatters I've mentioned it way back when he was having actual boiling overheating that it was extremely bad. These Aluminum motors don't take to heat unbalances like the cast iron. I would say the 2 step, too small of a radiator, and not letting it idle after a hit will be the death of that motor, long before any burnout competition, drifting or full send drag.
To the people that blame the air filter, I agree, the filter was pissed off at them for not being installed and sent bad vibes to the motor while they were ramming nitrous straight in the throttle body.
Just a few words of encouragement after such a devastating blow. Even though demolishing Neighbors high dollar engine may personally have cause you a lot of grief, the video work you did of the tear down and your expert analysis of what caused the problem in the first place is pure gold on the small screen! You may not realize it, but there are a couple hundred thousand future race car builders learning from you by taking note of what you're doing right and seeing exactly what you're doing to squeeze ever ounce of horsepower out of these parts before they start to fail. In this way, you're saving millions of dollars for your audience in future failed parts because we've watch you break these parts to learn how far you could go! Sorry about the damage to your car, but the lose was not in vain! Thank you for the lessons that you're teaching us! Happy Thanksgiving!
Everyone is going to talk shit about it when it's probably been the most reliable car in the shop lmao 😂 neighbor literally lived most of his life on the rev limiter and lasted that long with that constant abuse
@@redactedrider7606 I'd agree but it seems like they don't get abused much.. I might be wrong but from the videos I hardly see the C7 do much. As for the pit bike.. well it's a pit bike.
3:23 You completely nailed it. The entire tone of that previous vid was what made it so incredibly entertaining. you guys just feeding off of each other with no adult supervision (which isn't the first time you've done so with james (stop-leak)). It's one of the particular reasons why that vid was great. Clearly not a sustainable way to manage things, but it's the essence of you/your channel. It's a big reason why there's 1M subs. Good luck out there and keep up the great work. Get Neighbor ready for some spray...1,xxx, indeed
Lets be realistic. We all knew you were going to blow it up. You guys literally break everything you touch. You did what you always do. You take a motor and put it near its limit and its all working great. Then 2 months later you get bored and say "Well lets turn up the boost and let it rip tatter chip" next thing you know its making close to 50% more power and way more then its meant too and its wreaked. Examples.... EVERYTHING IN THE WHOLE DAMN SHOP minus the C7. Great content though. It's kept me around for years. Always entertaining.
He's addicted to BALD EAGLES and FREEDOM! HELL YEAH BROTHER. It's called LET HER RIP TATER CHIP. CAUSE LIKE THE PRINGLE JINGLE SAYS ONCE YOU POP YOU CANT STOP...
Since you're pushing these things to the limit and past....and a popped head gasket is a distinct possibility maybe wire them up with a starter button and an ignition switch. Hit the starter if it doesn't crank, STOP. If it cranks over flip the ignition on. Might give you a chance to avoid this situation.
FULLLL PULLLL is taking it back many many yrs ! That originated in the tractor sled pulling, monster truck scene 40yrs ago. Hearing that brought many memories from early childhood, the birth of Bigfoot, etc..
hope you guys can get it back together as it was with no dramatic changes like mixed metal..its been a great project to follow and watch come together.do it for ED ! also this channel is all i watch along with guys from work.we do it for dale in canada' thanks
betthat313 NO he only wants to spend $500 on a old, used up short block someone has laying around. Did you not even listen to him? I swear someone always looking for stir up some bs drama.
If he's going for a used block he should pull one out from a truck because with the exception of the lightning all the trucks have iron blocks. If I wasn't looking to go balls out and do it cheap I'd take that guys offer with the van. That said I kinda do want to see them go balls out because I'm looking at a short block from MMR for my truck build.
Might as well add another world record car to the channel. Swap in the ford Barra motor from Australia and make it the worlds fastest vic with a inline 6. 😂🇦🇺
Yea you can do the same thing with a 200,000 mile ls truck engine. But it will actually live after it gets off the dyno. Look up sloppy mechanics Colorado. Im pretty sure he made 1000 plus on a stock 200,000 mile 6.0 truck engine
yep, clearly hydrolocked after the dyno, because the heads lifted and gasket exited and water entered cylinders. the hard cranking should have been a massive clue-bat to stop and disassemble. oh-well
gym shoe its youtube entertainment thats all what they don’t show you is they get serious first gm stick shift car in 7’s explain how is that not serious please explain
Once you hear what a hydro lock sounds like when trying to start an engine you will never forget .I wish they made starter motors with a sacrificial gear to save an engine from being destroyed..
"No one saw this coming." Ha, right. James gave it a 170hp shot of Nitrous while the car is on a supercharger. What'd you think was gonna happen, Cleetus?
Ouch, but yes water doesn't compress like air lol I've learned this as well. And the 800-850 HP on a first Gen GT500 is about the realm you should be more cautious but having a lot of experience with them I wouldn't say it's the "limit" per se. With the newer gen Trinity 5.8 I would agree to stay around 800s but on the 5.4s with a solid tuner, good fuel and being very meticulous they can and do survive at the 1000whp level quite commonly. A twin screw is harder on the internals at that power level than a turbo setup too; that strain on the crank plus the massive torque applied lower in the Rev range is a bit more risky than a set of twins or a big single that offers more linear power and isn't reliant on the crank to drive it. We always try to steer customers towards a turbo setup when going for big power in their GT500s.
Do not put a LS in it you went Ford all this way keep on believe it or not I enjoyed neighbor ripping just sitting there was hoping that it would see a 9-second pass
@@chevyhead7274 I fully agree. I'm afraid it won't be considered 'murican enough to be a candidate, but IMO inlines are much stronger and easier to work on/around than V8s or V6s. Parts for barra may be a bit of a pain to get in the USA also...
for real, i bet he feels terrible. first major screw up working for him. not sure if there will be disciplinary actions as far as work goes, but i hope he sticks around and they can work it out. James is definatly the mechanic the chanel needs. hes just to much fun
I doubt it since the engine was hydrolocked but I thinks james did help the engine blow up but he isint responsible since cleetus said to get the bottle
a shirt will get u a great deal signed by the whole crew the whole truck is cheap .not junk at all not bs no time runs super strong was my baby i took care of it she wreacked it im 40 yrs old and a tech reply and we can go from there .maint and treated good houston texas baytown tx really 2 miles from Rpurple race way
Yes if you want to be technical. A coyote block would need darton iron sleeves to hold that kind of horse power so he would have to pay someone to install those plus the cost of the short block. Then his heads and supercharger and lower intake wouldn’t work plus the cost of buying a special ecm to work with the Holley to control the vvt. Sounds like a lot of money just to put a coyote in it.
@@MarcoC72186 Actually false. A stock 18gt block will hold more than a 5.4 block. These blow at 700whp that's what they're good for 700-750whp. 1k+ with nitrous, and 900 without plus hydrolocking it, it was going to happen. There's daily driver 18 gts deep in the 8s stock block and trans.
@@snikwad003 seeing that its destroyed anyway it wouldve been interesting to see how it wouldve went down if jeremy didnt do that, or if it held on for that pull if it broke 1100😂
