The whole sitting outside being an okay assumption to go talk with those people is really a southern thing. At least from what I gather living in the south then moving to the west coast and then the mid west. I’ve been all over the USA and yea some small towns that aren’t “southern” do this too but it’s really a southern thing. When a neighbor is relaxing on their porch you go say hi and be friendly. It’s southern hospitality is what it is. Idc what anyone says that’s what I’ve picked up on over the years.

Good to know, thank you!

That comes from the southern summers. Every body after work sat on the porch after work. Because in those days no one had air conditioning. So you couldn't hide and had to say "Hello", wither you wanted to or not. So much for Southern Hospitality, but I've here for 52 years.

I’m Really happy to hear about that sense of community- I’m planning on living in an rv at campgrounds when I finally move out of my parents place, but something I’ve admittedly been worried about is how solitary it may be- I’m used to hearing noise and stuff as I wind down for bed, and find a lot of comfort in being able to just be around other people.

COE campgrounds have been some of our favorites. As for socializing in a campground, smile, wave say hello from the road but don't go into the campsite until invited :). Don't knock on a strangers door unless their camper is on fire LOL. We watch and like all your videos. Our home base is in west central Indiana, so we recognize some of the roads you travel.

We just returned from our very first camping trip! We took the plunge with our first trip and went 4 hours away to Myrtle Beach State Park! All the firsts were scary- the first pull and for 4 hours, the first time stopping at a rest stop, the first time getting gas, the first time pulling into the camp ground, trying to back in the first time, hooking up electricity and making sure the ac worked, the first time hooking up water, first time trying to turn on the fridge, etc…… You are so right, people at camp grounds are so friendly! The moment we pulled up we must have looked green as grass at this whole camping thing! We had 2 gentlemen immediately come and help us back in, get unhooked from our truck and even took a look at our fridge! We had The Best Time!! And can’t wait for our next trip!! ❤️😊

Full timer here, started almost a year ago. We bought the Thousand Trails membership, so we try to stay there as much as possible to save money. We did stay at Ft Wilderness in January, it is pricey, beautiful campground, places like this we consider to be a "vacation" spot while out on the road so the added cost is justified. My issue with campgrounds is that a lot of them charge $50+ a night, but since you are staying in your own rig why does it cost that much basically for just having utilities? We might try some local/state parks this summer and maybe some Harvest Host sites. Thousand Trails isn't everywhere.
@lifererouted
@lifererouted 2 года назад
That's awesome! We've heard a lot about Thousand Trails but never used it ourselves. Campgrounds can definitely get expensive. Happy trails!
@matty6848
@matty6848 Год назад
Yes considering your just rent a plot of small land with water and electric supply does $50 seem excessive per night. Maybe 25/30 a night but $50? But you get that holiday and community feel you don’t get anywhere else, plus the added security you don’t get if your boom docking.

We've actually had an Amazon delivery to GPS coordinates when we were boondocking on top of a mountain right off of a gravel road. Gotta love Amazon prime when you're a FTer. The most we've ever paid for a campground is $500 a month, (in NC) utilities included. We never pay the daily rate. BTW if you are ever visiting New Orleans again (our hometown) we recommend staying at the nearby state parks as they are not only much cheaper but are a much more enjoyable wilderness experience. I particularly recommend 2 state parks on the safer, more upscale Northshore, Fontainebleau in Mandeville and Fairview-Riverside State Park in Madisonville, both right across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway to New Orleans. Our favorite way of living is also boondocking. We boondocked 8 months straight last year and another 2 months moochdocking with friends. We boondocked for a month last year just outside of Yellowstone for free. Our motorhome is set-up for living off grid which makes all the difference between "roughing it" and living with all the comforts of home, like we do. Hope to see you down the road one day. BTW, for us fellow campers are welcome anytime.

My nephew and his wife are full-time and they keep their “homebase” campground paid by the month. They come and go, but always have a place when they are back in town. They feel it is cheaper that way. Also, they've built a relationship with the owners so when there was a recent health emergency that kept one of them in the hospital for an extended period the owners reduced the rate and watched over their trailer for them.

Hello, first time watching your videos. You both have a very friendly nature & easy to watch. I'm a 30 year camper. I started out tent camping for several years, then bought a popup & now have a teardrop camper. My preference is state parks, where I camp exclusively. I like the acreage as compared to private campgrounds. I keep a list of favorite, private campsites in these parks & I reserve several months out, so I get my favorite sites. Not sure what the protocol is for how to show you're open to visitors. I've had total strangers pop over to my campsite, which is okay, provided they know when to leave. My sign that I hang at the beginning of the campsite driveway says, "Get Lost". Now this is not meant to be derogatory, as it has a picture of the woods on it. The true meaning of the sign is to get lost in the beauty of the woods. However, the hint is there ;) .

My issue with private full-hookup campgrounds is that a lot of the sites are so close together. Although I am no a full-timer, my wife and I RV about 3 weekends a month. We travel to get away from it all, not to become sardines in a row of RV's. Our older 26 foot motorhome holds 75 gallons of gas, 70 gallons of fresh water, 60 gallons grey, 25 gallons black, and has 6 house batteries. Having those capacities give us more options for longer boondocking. Not only do we find boondocking cheaper, we also find that the campsites have more room and privacy. Thank you for the wonderful video. Happy RVing.

We don’t currently have an RV but we’ve been thinking about one in the next year or so (really like the Grand Design 2500RL and 2600 BH) and I was just thinking about this topic of what it’s like at a campground. As someone who can be social at times…I also enjoy being an introvert. It’s not so much that I don’t want to be around others but that doesn’t mean I want to engage with people all the time. 😀 BTW, we live in North Ga and as someone who’s spent a lot of time riding my motorcycle in these mountains, I love seeing other people experience the area. For a new truck and camper (about 38-40k each) the monthly notes are still under 1k a month- much cheaper than 1400-1600 apartment rent here in Texas. For instance Shade Space privacy distance to bathroom Highlighting each spot gives us options when a particular spot is taken options are nice when keeping the 4 points I mentioned in mind.

My honest thoughts many on YT are staying away from whats really going on! I make a good living and yet having a hard time with the thought of paying what i'm having to at the pump. Right now i'd be lucky where i could go $$$ how sad. We are 25 cents short of $5 dollar gas on average here in Florida.

No campgrounds for me unless strictly necessary. I stay on campground on days I need to run errands, receive packages, do laundry and need full hook-ups and appointments etc. I usually do not stay more than two or three days and I am gone.

Was giving it serious thought on purchasing one but then I started reading how much profit they make on them and how fast they devalue and how high interest rates are right now........... not so serious now.........I've read asking 30% below MSRP is a good staring point.

Some of the best places we have stayed are hard to find, not easily found on google or maybe just 1 of the dozen apps we have, and they only take phone reservations, no online booking, especially city/county/municipal parks. Question: you mentioned getting packages to your camper, I assume you get instructions from the host, or office on how to address, or if deliveries are allowed/accepted, is my assumption on par? Could you offer some pro tips in this, we are 3.5 weeks out from setting off full time, so we want as much to work with as possible.
@lifererouted
@lifererouted 2 года назад
Great point! I think people give up if they can't book something easy. Good question, buddy! If we're at a place for a bit, we'll ask at check in about packages. I make sure the address they use is the one I have handy as well. We're usually ready to get supplies and whatnot by then, so usually the timing is just right to get packages. Wishing ya'll the best start! I'm sure you'll do just fine

Hi new sub here and totally new to the RV world. Picked up my Ozark last weekend and haven’t had a chance to take it out yet. This is probably a dumb question. What do you do if you are just stopping somewhere for the night, do you unhook your tow car? Can I just leave it hooked up and set my stabilizers down? That’s how new I am!!
@lifererouted
@lifererouted 2 года назад
Welcome! Not a dumb question at all! It really varies, but I love leaving the truck hooked up, often without even putting the stabilizers down. Lots of times we're too tired or there's just not really a good reason to unhook, and we're ready to roll the next morning! Happy travels, Red!

Hey you two, great video. My wife and I are about to travel nurses work also. This is my first video of yours that I've watched. liked and subbed. I can tell I'll enjoy your videos. I hope your have allot of travel nurses related videos. Also, I live by a KOA. this is not a popular area. if I told you where I was you may still not know where lol, but this KOA is booking for $100 a night! We're not even looking for $50 a night. Very expensive! We're looking at a few parks where were traveling to that offer anywhere from $300 to $750 a month, which is a great rate in our books. My wife and I are excited to sell the house and hit the road! I do have a question though, in the event your two stop traveling, have you been to enough places to know where you'd like to settle down at? If so, how do you know it's the place to live? Thank you, I'm looking forward to more videos!
@lifererouted
@lifererouted 2 года назад
Thank you so much! And love to hear from fellow nurses, thank you for all you do ❤ You have a good point about how expensive they can be! That's a great question - we originally started traveling thinking we'd be on the road for about 2 years then find a place to settle down. 6 years later and we're still enjoying it so much we haven't picked a spot yet! 😆
