This is a video about the off Grid Solar system we have in our house. Our Panels and the Inverter and Sunny Island.#BetterFuleBetterFuture #GreatSustainableLiving
Fantastic video! We are purchasing a cannibalized DC Solar Trailer (US) with (2) SMA 6048, (1) Midnite Solar 250 Charge Controller, (10) 230w Panels. I will be installing a 48v GNB VRLA Battery Bank and new panels to keep the unit charged. I am trying to find out how many panels (wattage/voltage) can be installed to reach the 50+/- Amp charging capacity of the SMA inverters. You have an Fantastic System!!
Very good video, I'm surprised it's been up so long and I'm just seeing it, because I think I've watched every video about SMA Sunny Island. I think it's the title it should be SMA off-grid AC coupled system, or something like that.
A nice explanation, I am setting up something similar shortly with the sunny island, 8h, about 15kw from the array on 2 strings i think and I am.foing to add a 10kw battery backup. My draw is quite high 40kw per day and we have an average of 4 hours sun each day, UK. Hopefully we can power most of the house most days and luckily rather than a generator have ac grid supply as back which of course I hope I don't need often. I've speced the system for expansion if required and it will be a diy install. My question of tou rewd this is my peak appears to be about 7kw but it was sugested I install 2 sunny islands allowing for a 12kw peak, I do not often use power tools from your experiamce with one sunny island and what seems to be a relatively high demand do you think this is required. Thanks.
Hi. Nice setup. Is your house on a single phase or 3 phase setup? Did the remote control for Sunny Island come with it inside the box or was it a separate purchase on top of the Sunny Island if you still remember?
Hi. Can you please confirm if both your Red Sunny Boy PV inverter are connected to the same single phase? Or are you 2 phase where one Red Sunny Boy is connected to one phase and 2nd Red Sunny Boy connected to 2nd phase? Thanks. If both Red Sunny Boy are connected to same phase, how do you connect both these Red Sunny Boy together to talk to each other? Is the Yellow Sunny Island got multiple inputs so it connected to both Red Sunny Boy? Thanks
I have a similar set up, that sunny island can only be single phase, I have two of new sunny boys. I don’t think these two different ones can talk to each other, they are connected via AC cable output of the sunny island. The battery was 93% and solar was only putting out 100w mine would only do that if the battery was 100%.
@@jessdarlington1007 Thanks for the reply. We just got our Solar PV installed last week with 2 x 6kW Sunny Boy with connected to a phase as we are a 2 phase home in NZ. Installer did tell me you can have multiple Sunny Boy’s and Sunny Island’s connected to same phase and they talk to each other via Ethernet but yeah as you said as well the Sunny Island & Sunny Boy can only serve 1 phase they are connected to. To server 2nd phase, you need to add Sunny Boy or Sunny Island to that as well.
