I have the FDR-X3000 and still use it. I have no plans to replace it with other recent action cams without OIS. To me, the results of OIS look more natural than those of digital stabilization.

i agree in respects to visual quality. these days i also don't use my sony cam 99% of the time bc i hate the form-factor compared to the action4 which is, in those respects, a dream.

You could cover the wire connections with silicone tube if you want to waterproof it, make it removable and less slippery or shrink tube but it will not be easy to remove.

An idea to to keep everything fixed in place (inside de bag) is to attach the battery and bellabox to an acrylic sheet and put it in your backpack
@EricKlein
@EricKlein 7 месяцев назад
yea, I've considered that but sometimes I also carry spare camera lenses of various sizes in the bag so having it remain flexible is a priority. tbh, its pretty much fine how it is, it could just be a tad more tidy, it's not a huge priority though.
@znbh

this is super informative! i love the bicep strap idea. ive always been afraid that it would fall off me in some way, but glad to know that it works for you. the internet has also been a crazy issue and i think i might just follow through with what you mentioned for your setup. pretty much everyone i've heard of uses a samsung phone to work with their IRL setup, but is it doable on an iphone too? i have the 13 pro max right now, and probably will upgrade later
@EricKlein
@EricKlein 7 месяцев назад
bonded data streaming on iphone is in super beta right now, it'll be quite a while until it's ready for actual use. If you want a phone for streaming get a S23ultra or wait for the s24ultra. You can also use modern google pixels, but they have thermal issues.

I thought about doing IRL streaming, I wanted something like a Bella Box or other encoder but im super new to it and some of it seems daunting to put together. the other options like a Live-U seem so expensive for new IRL streamers. I just wanted to walk around NYC and go to food places, and shops and such.
@EricKlein

learn a bit about OBS if you don't already and look into the app IRLPro. It runs on android and is dope for streaming. It's a good entry point, and might be all you really need depending on what kind of streaming you do. -E

This video is super useful and made things a lot more clear for me. I plan on IRL streaming in Japan as well, and renting some pocket wifi. In this case it would probably either be a Softbank 304ZT or 602HW, since I can't seem to bring my own modem to Japan with a Japanese sim card. I was wondering though, I see you plug yours in via usb. Does plugging it in mean it connects internet to the bella box? For it to connect through usb, did you just have to plug it in or do some other steps for it to get actual internet? And does this also charge it at the same time? Thanks in advance
@EricKlein
@EricKlein 15 дней назад
If the belabox is setup properly it will keep the modems charged yes. And yes, if the modem can supply a connection via USB you simply plug it in and the belabox recognizes it as an internet source.

What is the Shelbyville reference, Eric? I grew up in Indiana and my mom related that when her high school team played Shelbyville, their favorite cheer was "Shelbyville is it, Shelbyville is it, SH for Shelbyville, IT for it!"

I have a really basic , obvious and amateur question but I have to ask : where does all video flux goes? I mean, where do you livestream from? I thought you'd have a laptop carried in the backpack with obs set up? Otherwise if i'ts from your phone, Im wondering which software is used Idk if my question is clear, but im trying to understand how the streaming part is done, where does it go? Btw, thank you for the full setup video, really helpful i learnt a lot
@EricKlein
@EricKlein 6 месяцев назад
oh yea, the software side is a totally different thing haha, it's kinda complicated. Long story short is: 1. The camera signal goes into the "belabox bee" (the silver box in the backpack) via HDMI 2. The Belabox Bee runs custom software called "belabox" which takes the video signal, compresses it to h.265 and sends it over (in my case) two cellular networks, one is on my phone and connected to the belabox bee via local wifi hotspot and the other is a modem plugged into the belabox bee via USB. The idea is it is able to use both cellular networks in case of low bandwidth or signal failure on one, it can instantly adjust and work on the other. You can add a LOT of modems if you have them, not just two. 3. The signal goes over the "bonded" cellular networks to what is called a "SRTLA ingest" which sucks in the signal from both modems and turns it into a single video signal which is them captured by my computer at home which is running OBS. 4. The OBS machine then adds all the overlays and has some custom software to flip to a "BRB scene" if all my cellular connections fail (in a tunnel/elevator, etc) and automatically comes back to "live" when the signal is re-established. The OBS machine feeds the entire thing up to twitch (or youtube or wherever) as usual from there. There are some apps and stuff people have built to help you monitor and control everything while you are out and about. It's all pretty wild tbh, and a borderline miracle it works LOL.

14:00 so the dji reciever can work without being plugged into the sony cam during a livestream or just recording an audio?

not much, but in theory she will be able to just hold the camera on a selfie stick or something if we want. Audio is going to get complicated, however and I'm not totally sure what to do.

Hey bud, I’m trying to build a back pack based off of your build. The one thing I was curious is if the M6 pro is worth it. I noticed you used the m1 for the build. Does the 4g cut it? Or should I try and run the M6 I found one unlocked for Verizon… by any chance can I hit you on IG or somewhere to ask questions about building also I have some questions about launching the actual stream. Like does my computer need to be running the whole time. If I’m going to be streaming somewhere hours away how would I do that? Stuff like that. If you don’t have time to answer totally get it. Just figured I’d ask.
@EricKlein
@EricKlein 4 месяца назад
I don't use an m1 modem, it's a sh52b, but it's specific to my cellular network here in Japan. I'm not personally familiar with the m6 Pro so I can't speak to that. Your computer does need to be on and running for the stream of course, most people just leave it on at all times I suspect. Your best bet for support and ideas is to hit up the belabox discord, i hang out there a lot but there are also a lot of other people who can help with specific questions.
