Congratulations, Lao!. Sent from Vietnam. The project that China built very quickly and well. I really hope that China will help my country invest in the Saigon - Hanoi high-speed railway project. China is really good at railways.
China want to built a raileay for your country but majority of Vietnamese want the Japanese to built for them that why you don't have a high speed rail likes Laos or Indonesia. Thailand did the same thing before, they wanted American built for them but they never did and now they regret and asking China to built for them.
@@laosasean8482 You're right. Vietnam's media and education often do not speak well of China. It was like that when I was in high school. But when I go to work and learn, China is good. Vietnam's proximity to China brings great economic benefits that other countries do not have. Good cooperation is good for both - I hope politicians are wise when choosing contractors. I want China to do it because they do it very quickly and with quality. - I don't like Japan. They do too expensive and current construction projects in Vietnam. Japan also has serious incidents
@@vinhvanhoang257 I had lived in both US and China. I left Laos in 1980s to US and went to studied in China in my 30s and moved back to Laos in my 40s. We Laos are opening up to everyone for economic and development, but we against any foreign military in our a soil. US asked our government to put the military base on our soil and they told them NO!. and they told them if US really want to help us please built the hospital, school and dam for us. The US and China have different approaches in theirs foreign policy, US tries to dominate while China is tries to cooperate. Japanese was never for Asian, you can see how many Japanese girl marry guys that look like me and you, they either marry to the own kind or western men. I seen Vietnamese or Chinese girls married to the guys likes me and you. So Japanese are never for Asian and I would never count on them.
@@laosasean8482 I agree with you. Hello neighbor Laos. In Vietnam, when it comes to Lao people, they are loved because of their affection for Laos. Vietnam and Laos, our two countries have quite similar foreign policies. Vietnam also does not allow other countries to build military bases. Vietnam in the past made the mistake of not being neutral. 2 regions choose 2 superpowers in the cold war. The North chose the Soviet Union and China. The South chose America. I don't want to see that past repeat - I am neutral and a knowledgeable intellectual. I think cooperation with China is better for Vietnam and Laos. I often joke that: Without China, Vietnam will experience an economic crisis more than people imagine :)) - In my country they often talk too much about the Japanese: While they come to Vietnam to earn money and bring it back to Japan. (Nothing is free).
@@vinhvanhoang257 Hello my eastern neighbors Vietnam. I admire and respect your people, culture of the hard working and determination. I am from central Laos we have the largest Vietnamese population, our province of Khammoun. And thank you for your being all weather friend toward us, we never has any conflict with your country. You helping us and we are helping you in good time or bad time. I know that you guy have same culture as Chinese as we have the same culture as Thailand, Cambodia and Burma. We re must learns from the past that way we will not repeat the same mistake again. We must never allows US or anybody using us like Ukraine against Russia, war is bad for everyone. America, and western world still have that colonial mentality they always want to dominate the others instead of cooperation and respect with others. America at some point will crumble because they have so much internal problems theirs infrastructure are crumbling, racism, debt, inflation and others issue. As world starting to de dollarization, they won't be able to print unlimited dollars to fund the war adventure anymore and that how America will end.
The ticketing information is so useful. Even though the ticket is way more expensive, I am also using a third-party agent to get my train tickets. I don't want the stress of buying tickets when I am supposed to be holidaying in Laos. Apparently the train company in Laos doesn't accept many foreign credit cards and the queues can be long.
@Hadrianus01 hello there, thanks for watching our vlog. Happy to hear that you found our info useful. While it definitely costs more to buy tix through agent, it did save us the stress as you correctly pointed out. Hope you had a good time in Laos. For folks who are more adventurous, it is possible to collect from the agent office (save delivery costs) and buying direct from rail office (unknown+ station is far from city centre).
Thanks for dropping by and watching our vlog! 😄 Buying train tickets can be quite stressful indeed, especially so in a foreign country. Hopefully the process can become more seamless and convenient for tourists in the future. The Lao-China Railway has a great route & I would definitely be keen to explore more!
once china opens up 🙏🙏. i definitely will go to Laos from Kunming. i prefer to join a tour from Kunming ( i think it will happen ) so that i don't have to worry about anything. LCR railway will probably be packed with tourists from china if and when china opens up. i look forward to visiting Laos. thanks for this very informative video. love from canada.
Kunming is a lovely city and it would be a very fun train ride. We are sure you will enjoy Laos when you visit, be it on your own or through a tour group. Do drop us a comment on your trip when you do
Once China opens up for international travel, I'm sure the tourists numbers will soar globally. Anyway, we hope you'll enjoy your trip & train ride when the time comes~ Do check back and share with us your experience then! I'm sure it'll be a different one.
@@oheyjelly a Laotian friend said with the railway now when she go back to visit family she doesn't have to do the 5+ hours bus ride to her village when she land at Vientiane.
Fantastic 😊 Looks similar to China . I travelled by train in China a lot. I wish they would build one in Vietnam and connect China and Vietnam and Laos 🇱🇦
Now China has not opened up, the railway is a little busy. Thee freight train also carried a lot of supplies. The railway is vital to a landlocked Laos, both for people and goods, and will be an important part of opening the door for Laos in the future. .
hey guys, the commentary in this video is great. Like having a personal tour guide. having captions are wonderful. keep up the good work!! (Note: Just say US$ instead of USD. Mr. P can you slow down a bit when you speak for people who are non singaporeans. love commentaries from both of you )
haha thanks! glad you enjoyed the video and we had a chuckle at the feedback. Not sure if its a bit of my Singlish / nerves but will work towards slowing down a bit in future. And yes consistency on terms!
The interior of the train stations looks exactly like the ones in China! Hope soon we will have high speed train between China and Singapore (the most southern point of Asia continent)... Currently can only take train from Woodland to JB, have to make several changes to reach Laos for this high speed train to China....
We're thrilled to learn that you found the video useful! :) We're no longer in Laos now, and will be unable to showcase the other segments of the railway. Will do so if we head back next time!
Yes, indeed. The bigger network is the Pan-Asia Railway, which is still being developed slowly, and hopefully eventually we'll be able to experience the full journey! 😊
@@irritatedanglosaxon1705 Unfortunately, corruption is a very real issue. Its tough, but it is better if we accept it earlier as part of life. Hopefully things will become better with your new Prime Minister, all the best.
Very good 👍 👏 and Narrative video. I'm Lao grown up in the USA 🇺🇸. On my bucket list is moving to 🇱🇦 Laos within a years or 2. It is booming now and at least 21 Special Economic Zones. I like the ThautLaung Lake Zone best.
Thank you for your kind words! And...yes! The development and progress in Laos is amazing. I hope you will eventually check that off your bucket list! ;) I have a few other countries and experiences on my bucket list as well. 😉
The American government said that the China Laos Railway would threaten the national security of the United States, while NATO and the European Union would say that the China Laos Railway would threaten the security of the West.
Middle finger to both US and EU, and even Australia, they are racists and all they care its about themselves they never want to see Asian and others world to be prosper. They goal is to dominate us and they will never treat us as equal partnerss.
Hello! Thanks for watching our vlog & joining the @oheyjelly RU-vid family! We're happy to know that you found the video useful. We had a good experience on the Lao-China rail!😊
In Southeast Asia there are two countries that have bullet trains (Indonesia and Laos.) The difference is that bullet trains in Indonesia are not yet connected to China and they connect cities in Indonesia with the aim of growing new industrial areas, especially growth in the electric car battery industry ( Indonesia Battery Corp / IBC, LG Energy Soultions and CATL have started producing electric batteries for all EV brands in the world and controls more than 70% of the world's electric car batteries ). So many electric car brands have been produced in Indonesia (Hyundai Ioniq 5, Wuling Air EV, Toyota Innova Zenix Hybrid, BZ4X and others) and this not only assembling like in other countries because in Indonesia they also produce electric car batteries. Very different from the bullet trains in Laos, they are directly connected to cities in China.Things that are very unbalanced and profitable for China, with the completion of this bullet train it will be easier for China to expand economically to Laos and Laos only as a consumer for Chinese goods / products.
The reason that Indonesia and Laos got the high speed rail was because they allowed China to built its. Vietnam and Thailand and Vietnam didn't wanted China to built for them because they think is substandard. They want the Japan or US to built for them but they never did only lip services now Thailand felt regret because we Laos got its before them and now they asking for China to helps them built the railway for them.
As Laotian who been living and studied in both US and China for many years I don't see its that way, we Lao will also profitable from this project not just China. Its turned from landlock into the land link country, its will increase tourism and not just from China but the rest of the world also increase trades as well, we are now don't have to heavily depend on both Thailand and Vietnam for seaports.
@@laosasean8482 I do believe that better transport systems hold so much more potential to a better world & international economy overall. But of course, we need to have a growth mindset & global view to truly appreciate such advancements.❣

@4:16, well hello there Swee Heng bag (Swee Heng is a Singaporean neighbourhood bakery). For a flimsy looking plastic bag, you certainly play a part lasting all the way from Singapore till the last day of the Laos trip, carrying our snacks, food, domo and water supplies. LCR is easily one of the cleanest, fastest train we have taken. Base ticket prices were certainly reasonable. Due to the Chinese Covid measures, the border to China are currently still closed. To the south, it was definitely doable to connect from Vientiane to the Thai Border and into Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) via train, we just didn't have the time. What was your experience with the LCR, let us know in the comments below!
@jamesl9371 hello there, thanks for our watching our vlog. Yes it was a strange first experience to be seated apart, and in very different ends of the train. Luckily, our seat buddy was another couple with the same issue, so we ended up just swapping seats. There’s something about train connections across borders. Hopefully the Vietnam one links up soon 🚊
Hello there @anish4775 do check out our other Laos vlogs for the places we visited. We had a really enjoyable but brief time in Laos. Vientiane: Patuxay monument is a fabulous sight modeled after Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Vang Vieng: cross the Namsong bridge. We had a nice cycle/hike to Nam Xay viewpoint Luang Prabang: phousi hill and kuangsi waterfall. If you are up early, don’t miss the alms giving ceremony with the local monks. Enjoy, and have fun with your trip
@anish4775 Hey Anish, thanks for watching the vlog & leaving us a comment. Hope you found Mr. P's reply useful ☺He's usually the "master planner" of our trips, so he definitely knows his stuff! 😄 Laos is a beautiful place and we enjoyed our trip tremendously.
No and depending. We bought our tickets immediately on arrival at Vang Vieng for a train that was scheduled 2 days later to Luang Prabang. Local station counters only sell tickets for the day itself + 2 days in advance. Hence there were available seats for us. If you purchase your ticket on the day of travel and if it happens to be peak period (eg weekends), there is a likelihood that there will be no seats for your preferred train timing, and you are stuck/caught at a railway station that is 15-30 mins out of the city centre. Hope this helps!
Hi Ashleigh! Referring to Mr. P's accompanying comments, perhaps the best way to summarise is...travel plans and preferences? Leaving it up to "chance" or planning ahead in advance to minimise possibilities of being stranded without choice? Haha! Hope this helps. 😃
@beckham48 hello there again, from our research, there is a border customs control when you disembark at either Boten or Mohan. It sounds similar to the passenger train from JB Singapore where passengers go through a fairly quick customs check upon arrival. We hope to try it someday!
Thanks for watching my vlog! 😊 In any case, I'm sure that border immigration is required for all travellers going from a country into another, regardless travel via plane, train, bus, ship. 😀

@@Danin4985 , you mean like Greece, where western banks got paid back in whole whereas the Greek people are forced to repay the IMF over decades. If you are so kind, your country is welcomed to give Laos cheap loans at zero interest rates. Problem solved.

Hi, the chinese border wasn't open when we took the train, so we do not have any info on this. Do let us know how was the crossing/ whether you manage to get the visa on arrival, good luck!
Hi Naveen, the train operates at 160km/hr for normal service and 120 km/hr for cargo service. There should not be any differences whether the trains runs in the day or night. Hope this helps, cheers!

The Chinese tsunami was happened a long time ago. The merchants of Thonburi utilized the Mekong river for transportation and Vientiane was technically a base camp similar to Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
Regardless, with the LCR, it's a great step forward in many aspects such as trade, tourism and general ease of transportation for many stakeholders, apart from Laotians. 👍🏻
This is only a single-track and high-standard ordinary-speed railway. It is much lower than the standard of China's own widely built high-speed railway and its cost is lower.
Hello there. Sorry, I tried using Google to translate what you're trying to say from Korean to English, but I don't understand the context of your comment.
